Beechcroft Residential Home is a boutique care home founded on the principle that every resident deserves the same level of care, kindness, and respect that one would provide for their own family members. The dedicated staff take pride in fostering an environment that feels like an extended family, where residents are not just cared for but truly valued.

At Beechcroft, most residents maintain a degree of independence but benefit from the warmth and reassurance of 24-hour support. The home’s small size allows for a close-knit, friendly atmosphere where residents form meaningful relationships with both carers and each other. It’s a place where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, and a sense of community thrives.

Residents are encouraged to participate in daily activities, enjoy nutritious meals, rest comfortably, and maintain connections with their loved ones. The home’s focus is on rekindling a zest for life, ensuring that each resident’s individual needs and preferences are always met with personal attention.

Beechwood has strong connections with the local community, welcoming regular visits from the nearby nursery and monthly visits from the vicar.

Beechcroft offers both long-term residential care and flexible day-care options. Day-care guests are welcome to join for the day and return home in the evening, while shorter visits for a few hours are available for those who wish to enjoy the home’s warm and welcoming atmosphere, whether for a cup of tea, a relaxing bath, or participation in daily activities.

The home is proud to be a winner of the Top 20 Care Homes in South West England Award 2025.

So lovely to see Mum settled so quickly! Everyone is so helpful and caring. Nothing is too much trouble and I feel that this really is the best place for Mum to get well and enjoy her life.
Beautiful house and light and airy, just like home.

Beechcroft is a warm and welcoming residential home. After having to find a home for my grandfather I couldn’t believe our luck when Beechcroft had a room available just at the right time. The staff are friendly, approachable and caring towards my grandfather and have made him feel very comfortable
and welcomed at a difficult time. My grandfather enjoys the food, it always smells delicious when I visit and his needs are being met adequately. The atmosphere in the home is relaxed and they have lovely activities for those who wish to join in. Knowing that my grandfather is being looked after and cared for in such a lovely environment is all that I could wish for.

I find this a very friendly happy home with carers working hard to help me with everything I need. The home is very clean indeed which is a priority to me. I am able to make my room my own space. The meals are very good with very delicious sweets and my needs are catered for. I enjoy my breakfast in
my room, drinks are available throughout the day. The gardens are beautiful to sit out in, with plenty of walking areas. I am very happy to have found this home.

I have made some friends, it's nice to feel safe at night. When I have had a couple of falls, staff have been very quick to help. I enjoy home cooking, it would be nice to have more activities/entertainment.

An outstanding care home: our mother moved to Beechcroft Residential Home in January 2020 at the age of 97. After a period of hospitalisation, it was clear she needed residential care. She first moved into another home in August 2019. She was not happy there and the care was indifferent so when the
opportunity for a place at Beechcroft came up we moved her. The care at Beechcroft has been exemplary, she received the best care and attention possible. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. As her health deteriorated her behaviour became increasingly challenging, yet Beechcroft always dealt with her with kindness and professionalism.
She died in the home in the most peaceful way and, again, Beechcroft's staff were outstandingly caring in a difficult time.
I have no hesitation in recommending Beechcroft as a Care Home. It would be difficult to find anywhere better.

I would like to thank the Beechcroft staff for their excellent care of my Aunt who recently passed away after 4 years of care in the home.
Throughout her stay, my aunt was treated with compassion and respect. After developing dementia the staff did everything they could to keep my aunt happy and contented.
During the lockdown, it was very difficult to communicate with my aunt but the staff kept me up to date with her condition. We were able to have some outdoor visits last summer which were much appreciated. During the last week of her life, I was able to visit at any time and sit with my aunt.

My sister is new to the home and being in this kind of setting but is happy with her choice of home. She was lonely at home but now has the wonderful staff looking after her and she has made some new friends too. I and our family are so grateful to them all for doing such a great job.

The care team at this home is of a very high standard for everyone within their care, it's a real 'home from home' experience and you can tell the staff really do care for their residents above and beyond the basics of care needs. My Mother who has lived here for over a year now is very content living
in this small family type setting.

My Godmother has been a resident in Beech Croft a number of years and she is very happy there. The staff are all extremely professional and very kind to her. They are patient and caring and she loves them all. The manager is approachable and always finds time for a chat or to sort out any worries. Lots
of activities are arranged for the residents who want to take part and my Godmother always enjoys them. The food is excellent and they have a choice for meals so there is always something she likes. They have a great sun room which they can all sit in with a really nice garden.

My mother has been cared for at Beechcroft for over 2 years now and really feels at home there, and loves her room as her own 'place'. The quality and care that goes into each meal is exceptional and varied. Medical issues are dealt with professionally and the network of support from the local GP and
nurses is always used as soon as required. So my thanks go to all staff as I can't imagine what we’d do without you.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Well managed home. Residents are well looked after and food is good. The home is always clean and tidy when we have visited.
Rooms and ensuites are not the biggest but are more than adequate. We are quite happy with the care provided to our 97-year-old mother.

I came to Beechcroft as a daycare lady and decided to move in 3-years ago. I am very happy here. I have made so many friends, I enjoy the activities and making cards to send to my family.
The staff are extremely caring, and understand when I get anxious and need to stay in my room; they check on me.
The food is good and a variable choice. I know I can see the manager at any time, her door is always open for any of us.

Our Aunty has been a resident at Beechcroft for several years. She's very happy there, has a comfortable room which is kept very clean as is the rest of the Home. The staff are exceptional, kind, caring and friendly. Many have been there many years, so the continuity of care is excellent. We are very
impressed how the manager and staff have managed the current virus. They entered lockdown early, though did inform the relatives, and have encouraged communication between residents and families. They have provided extra activities and events to keep the residents content. It’s been a great reassurance to us that Aunty has been kept safe and happy. We would highly recommend Beechcroft.

My Grandmother is a long term resident at Beechcroft and I am delighted with the service she receives which is a comfort to me as I live almost 200 miles away! My brother visits her often as he is much closer by! A recent visit showed me just how happy she is at Beechcroft! She tells me she’s very
happy and the staff on site 24 hours a day are always there for her whatever she needs! Grandma was 97 in February and as I say it’s a huge comfort to me that she is so well looked after!

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.949)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.949) out of 10 for Beechcroft Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.949 for Beechcroft Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (225 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 237 Ratings = 4.949
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Beechcroft Residential Home is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 18 registered maximum number of service users is 3.6, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
