I have now been a resident here for 5 weeks. The staff are good, caring and interested in my well-being. Before Christmas, we had an outing to a nearby Garden Centre, which was enjoyable.

The staff were very nice and kind and looked after my husband for 8 days respite stay very well. I found the staff friendly and helpful when I came to visit, or my son came to bring him out for part of the day.

Very poor care. Nan suffers with dementia yet staff dont seem to understand that, call her by the wrong name continuously. Very poor care, water/fluids always being given in cups/mugs that are too heavy for my grandmother to lift....she is 95! And they are always placed out of her reach, leading to dehydration. She has lost ALOT of weight since being there, she struggles to see and doesnt seem to be given much (if any) help with meals etc. Her personal items are never anywhere to be seen, ie her knitting. No homely comforts and the inside of the building smells of urine. Very dated.

2 days ago she managed to fall out of bed and ended up in hospital.

The dementia care here is very poor. My mother-in-law's liquid intake is not measured or monitored, causing dehydration, resulting in a hospital stay. She is often found in dirty clothing. They clearly are not suitable for dementia clients as staff are not trained.

The home is old, tired and frequently smells of urine as residents are not looked after often due to a lack of staff. The majority of staff there are very caring and helpful, but not trained sufficiently.

Overall care is good. All staff are friendly. Manager good, will help with any issues, is very approachable when want to see her, except weekends. At times seems to be a breakdown in communication between manager and staff. Staff can sometimes be difficult to understand. Personal details not always noted. EG, in his room should have white coffee, often arrives black, no milk, has own sweetners but rarely is a spoon provided, at least when I have been there, important things to him. .Medical care is very good, weekly visits. Does now go down for lunch with other residents, and joins in with some entertainment, so improving.

I was very worried when I had to find a care home for my sister when she was diagnosed with dementia. I needn't have worried, Oaktree Lodge is certainly to be recommended. It is very friendly and comfortable. There is always a welcome for you when you visit. The management is very supportive and reassuring, and the staff are so friendly and caring, nothing seems too much trouble for them.

Oaktree Lodge is extremely friendly and welcoming. We are always offered refreshments when we visit and on one occasion when my friends taxi had to cancel at short notice three of us were given lunch.

My friend always says how happy she is there and always looked very well cared for. Management and all the carers are brilliant.

My husband who has dementia moved into Oaktree Lodge full-time in December 2024. From the start, it was obvious that this place really was caring. The carers are welcoming have smiles for you and are obliging, if something needs doing. The kitchen staff are equally welcoming, offering you drinks or food which is of a high standard. My husband enjoys the dance/exercise activities. The musical afternoons and comedy videos! The manager and office staff are also welcoming, they listen to any concerns you may have and act upon it.

My mum went into respite initially but is now a permanent resident in the home. The management has been so supportive throughout the whole process giving support to my mum but to me also. I would also like to mention the kitchen staff as they have been helping to encourage my mum with her food by asking and preparing food that she likes.

From the moment we walked through the doors of Oaktree Lodge we knew we had found the perfect respite space for my mum to recover from quite a traumatic period. The staff here are nothing short of amazing, the manager is incredibly patient and welcoming and all the care staff who have been just fabulous...their dedication, compassion and professionalism are evident in everything they do.
My mum is always treated with the utmost respect and kindness, and it's clear that her wellbeing is their top priority. The environment at Oaktree Lodge is warm and inviting, impeccably clean and well-maintained - the outside courtyard is a favourite spot for Mum!
The variety of activities that Mum talks about has kept her engaged and happy and it's heart-warming to see her so content and well cared for.

I would highly recommend Oaktree Lodge for anyone seeking a loving and nurturing environment for their loved ones.

Mum has been a resident of Oaktree Lodge for several years now. My sisters and I have always been impressed by the genuine care shown by all of the staff towards the residents. Additionally, staff are always willing to answer all of our questions. Each of us live overseas, so having access to information about our Mum is very important to us. Although it is challenging to get through on the phone at times, information is always readily provided. The building/facilities could do with some updates but we are aware that some of this is being addressed. Overall, we are very pleased with the care provided at Oaktree.

Lovely care home. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. My aunt and uncle are very well looked after and always dressed and washed whenever we visit. Food always looks nice and I am often asked if I want to stay for lunch and offered tea and cake. Staff make every effort to keep the residents happy and well and are really patient and caring. Happy to have found such a nice place for them.

I have worked in health and social care for most of my adult life. I've worked as a carer, senior, care coordinator, manager and now a registered manager of Oaktree Lodge. Although I did not set out in life to work in care, it's something that came naturally to me by taking care of loved ones and people around me.

Oaktree Lodge has been a learning curve for me but I'm so proud of it and the culture and friendliness it gives out. Its a loving home where individuals needs are put first and care for in a person-centred way. Its a positive atmosphere and each day is enjoyable. I would be more than happy for my relative to have a place here and be cared for by wonderful carers.
