My brother is currently a resident at Serenita Care Home due to alcoholism. They have taken such wonderful care of him and us as a family, keeping us updated on his process, or if we call or email them, they are very quick to respond. My brother has made great strides while being at Serenita due to
the programme they have put him on; they are truly kind, caring and professional in everything they do. Cannot recommend Serenita enough. Without them, we can't imagine where my brother would be now, certainly not in a good place.
Thank you to the whole team, managers and all the staff; we are truly grateful to you all.

Staff extremely caring and friendly, but my son does nothing to help himself. He won't go swimming or on twice daily walks, I doubt he reads his daily newspaper or TV book. The staff have an uphill struggle to relieve his apathy.
Reply from Pip Harris, Marketing Manager at SerenitaThank you for taking the time to write this review. We really appreciate your feedback and it is good to know you have found the staff caring and friendly, I will pass your feedback on to the team. Kind regards.

I do admire the work all staff put into supporting their residents at Serenita. I am pleased to hear communal furniture is being upgraded and am especially glad new vehicles being bought too. What I would really welcome is more inclusion in care plans, possibly in the activities and progress of my friend!
Currently, I hear nothing. Many thanks.

ARBD service users have significant challenges for many reasons. Despite this, the managers and staff listen to residents and try hard to respond positively to suggestions whenever possible. I would like to especially stress the deep understanding of this complex condition allowing the care to be sensitive,
life-saving and kind.
Reply from Pip Harris, Marketing Manager at SerenitaThank you so much for taking the time to write this considerate review about our Serenita ARBD care home. I will pass on your feedback to the manager and staff team who will be delighted to read it. Kind regards.

Living at the Serenita was like living in a hotel. My mother took me to America, and we stayed at a hotel, Serenita was just as welcoming, clean, friendly and I enjoyed my time there. I wrote to Boris Johnson about my experience here.

Serenita has cared for my dad for 6 years. During that time they have provided a safe, comfortable environment for him to live. His needs are met with compassion and understanding. The staff do their utmost to keep me informed and have done amazing during the pandemic. They've kept my dad and the other
residents safe and well cared for. I am truly grateful to them.
Reply from Immacolata Jacobs, Media Marketing at SerenitaWe really appreciate you completing this wonderful review. It is lovely to read your positive comments on the care and support received by your dad. Our staff take great care and respect when providing support for all our residents and their loved ones. And we are particularly proud of the incredible work they do each and every day while we work through COVID-19.
I will personally ensure all the team at Serenita are aware of your positive feedback.

My husband has been a resident in Serenita for nearly 2 years. He is always well presented, his room is always clean and free from odours. There is always plenty of activities on offer should he wish to partake. Food is always plentiful and I am always offered to join when I visit. Staff are helpful
and there is always a senior member of staff available should I wish to discuss any areas of my husband's care.
Reply from Tracy Peart, Manager at SerenitaThank you for your kind words of encouragement regarding the care we deliver here at Serenita. We welcome all family and friends and I will gladly pass your comments to the whole team. Thank you so much. Kind Regards.

Me and my family have been made to feel very welcome from the first visit and continue to get better after more visits. My children really enjoy coming to visit their grandad. They enjoy being invited to eat dinner or tea with him. I can see the improvements in him as well, very happy indeed.

I have been living in Serenita Care Home since 27/10/14. I was staying before in a hostel in Bristol. In the year 1st September 2014 I had an epilepsy attack. I have had a pancreas operation. Because hygiene reasons consultants put me here in Serenita Care Home.
It's a right place to stay for alcohol
and drug users. Because most of them have had lost their knowledge a very long time ago. In the past Serenita Care Home was running as a motel not a care home. since I am here, there are ongoing repair works in here. Blocked loos and washbasins. There is always a big container for builders on the front. Otherwise it's a heaven for the residents. Not for me.
Reply from Sharon Warren, PR Manager at SerenitaMany thanks for your review of Serenita. Feedback is so important to us and I would like to answer some of the points you have raised. Prior to Notaro owning the building it was indeed a hotel, but this was changed when we purchased the building a number of years ago and we've been running it as a care home ever since. Due to the age of the building, unfortunately it does require maintenance, along with our standards of wanting to provide the very best for our residents. We continue to refurbish the home and also the home which is situated next door to Serenita, hence the need for a skip. We are looking into the possibility of moving the skip shortly, as we appreciate it is an eye sore.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.827)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.827) out of 10 for Serenita is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.827 for Serenita is calculated as follows: ( (202 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 237 Ratings = 4.827
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Serenita is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
