Our mother has been living at Cleeve Lodge for the last 5 years. As a family, we cannot thank the staff enough for the care she received until she passed away last week. From the day she moved into the home her care has been amazing, being adjusted, as necessary, to her additional needs.
There were
always plenty of different activities for her to join in if she wanted to do so. The food has always been varied, tasty and plentiful.
Whenever we visited, we were made extremely welcome. Over and above everything, the staff at the home are the reason for the success of the organisation and for our mother’s and our satisfaction with her care.
Once again, our heartfelt thanks to everyone for caring so well for her.

This is the second care home Mum has been in. The difference between the two is night and day! She is very happy here, well looked after with wonderful staff. I would say 10/10. Very friendly, helpful staff and management.

Mum was a resident of Cleeve Lodge Residential Care Home for nearly a year, in that time they brought the fun and laughter back into her life with all the activities. We as a family were made very welcome. The team gave my mum excellent care, respect and dignity and they all worked extremely hard to
give Mum the best care possible.
This is an amazing home with an amazing team who showed dedication not only to their work but for the residents as well. It’s hard to sum up our appreciation of the care Mum received but thank you to all the staff.

My mum recently spent a week in respite at Cleeve Lodge after suffering a stroke and I have to say the care and consideration given to her whilst she was there made it actually enjoyable for her. Although her room was small it was kept spotlessly clean and she never tired of telling me how kind everyone
was. Thank you to the staff at Cleeve Lodge for making Mum's stay so safe and comfortable, she says that she felt genuinely cared for.

Cannot believe, we, as a family, were so lucky in finding such a special place for our mum to spend her last 2-years. The staff are amazing, not only caring for residents' needs with compassion and dignity but go out of their way to make the families feel welcome as well. The home is spotlessly clean
and well cared for, and everyone is treated with care, dignity and compassion. Residents are always kept entertained and very well cared for.

My mum has been a resident at Cleeve Lodge for 2 years. Mum is very well looked after by everyone, the staff are so caring and loving. The home is always spotless and doesn't smell like a care home which others did when visiting. They have plenty of activities to stimulate them. This home is first class,
I would highly recommend to all. The chefs cook all the food from scratch and always makes me feel hungry. Well done Cleeve Lodge.

One morning their quick response when they found a lady that was unwell, calling the doctor and ambulance was excellent. On coming out of hospital they have continued with excellent care for this lady.

Since Mum coming to the care home in February and unfortunately her declining health, Cleeve Lodge staff have been treating Mum with great dignity and respect. Making her last few months feel that she is in a family environment.

My Nan stayed here on respite whilst I went on holiday with my parents. She really enjoyed her time here, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food must have been good as she actually ate. My Nan even joined in with the activities and enjoyed the company.

My mother recently died aged 103 after moving into Cleeve Lodge three years ago. Whilst independent, her eyesight, hearing and progressively mobility, deteriorated and she became increasingly dependent on staff. She was indeed fortunate to have been placed in Cleeve Lodge. All the staff looked after
her in a professional, caring and respectful manner. The ethos was fully inclusive and the care excellent. I have nothing but praise and respect for the staff at all levels. On her behalf, thank you.

In that time he has been looked after exceptionally well with all his personal care as well as his physical and entertainment needs. The management, as well as all of the staff, are superb and always make time

Wonderful staff with a truly caring attitude, have made my mum most welcome and at home. Mum has smiled more in the last year than she has done for many years and the staff have helped myself and my sister through a difficult time. I could not recommend Cleeve Lodge any higher.

Risa Jobbins

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2008

I am Cerisa, known as Risa, Registered Manager at Cleeve Lodge Residential Home in Downend. We care for adults over the age of 65 who require support with their daily living or who simply require companionship.


I first started working in care in 1998 and moved to Cleeve Lodge in 2008. I have NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Health & Social Care and recently achieved my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management.


Outside of work, I live with my husband and three teenage children. My household is very busy and noisy with my children and two dogs but I wouldn't change it for anything. My children forever make me smile.


The most important lesson that I have learnt has been that working in a team achieves much more than working in isolation. The best piece of advice that I was once given was to believe in myself as I can achieve great things.

I am Helen Haughton, I support the Homes in the Kew Care Group as Operations Manager. I started working in health & social care in 2001 when I graduated from Cardiff University and joined Kew Care Group in 2008. I was the Registered Manager of Cleeve Lodge Residential Home for 10 years achieving an Outstanding CQC rating in 2018. In addition to this, I had been working alongside the other Managers within the Group for several years but took on the operations role full-time in 2018 and now split my time between the four Homes.


The best piece of advice that I was once given was to teach and mentor others and they will be the best reflection of you.
