Firgrove House, rated OUTSTANDING Jan 2019 is a Georgian period property providing residential care as well as dementia care. The home is ideally situated a short walking distance from Yate Shopping Centre and the newly opened Riverside development with access to shops, cinema, cafes, a library, health centres and links to local public transport services.

Client rooms are comfortably furnished to create a homely environment and are equipped with TV aerials and call bells. Some rooms have en-suite facilities, some private wash and commode facilities. The home has client friendly computer equipment and Wi-fi facilities.

Firgrove House invests in training staff to ensure exemplary standards of care for clients. 24 hour care is in place within both the Main House and Coach House, day and night. At Firgrove House, carers always remember that they are working within the residents' home, their private space, therefore all residents are treated with the utmost dignity and respect at all times.

Firgrove House ensures that clients enjoy daily activities, organised events, entertainment and outings. They also provide Day Care, seven days a week.

When I first visited Firgrove it just felt right, I knew my mum would settle there and I wasn't proved wrong. Mum really enjoyed her stay. The food she said was excellent as was the care provided. The staff were great nothing too much trouble. Mum made lots of new friends and was looking forward to
the better weather so she could sit outside in the lovely garden. Thank you all.

We put Mum into this home three years ago. We looked at a few homes and didn't want to put Mum in them as they were too big and didn't feel right. As soon as we walked into Firgrove, we liked it - was home from home. Lovely staff, and everyone had a smile. We knew straight away she would be safe and
looked after. Mum loved it as well. Can't think of anything bad to say about Firgrove, Mums every need was met. Good food as well.

Mum has settled in so well at Firgrove. I cannot fault the level of care and consideration she has received - it has been excellent. Residents are treated as individuals and family are kept informed of any concerns. They go that little bit further for activities to keep residents occupied. It has a

Living in the area, we already knew Firgrove House had an excellent reputation and this was confirmed as soon as Mum moved in. She was very well looked after from the beginning and she often said in my pod visits /facetime calls (she lived there during covid times) that everyone was lovely and that
she was well looked after. What more can you want? Mum had dementia but there was a good understanding of her needs and she was treated with love, respect and dignity. There was excellent support for us as a family too, we were given information, were listened to and made to feel part of mum's care. The manager is excellent... friendly and professional and clearly cares about those under her care. The staff were all lovely and have worked so well to cope with the extra challenges that covid has brought. Sadly, mum passed away, in hospital, due to a sudden illness (not covid). Communication, support and care was excellent throughout this time. Well done and a great big thank you!

My mother has been living at Firgrove House for about 3 years. During that time we have seen many changes of staff. However, the level of care has always been constant and has actually improved with each new manager. Mum took a while to settle in but the fact that she did was purely down to the professionalism
and lovileness of the staff - all the way from the owners, admin staff and the people that are on the premises day and night. The lady in post now is wonderful, she has an afinity with the residents that is 2nd to none. She understands Mum's condition and they spend a lot of time singing. With encouragement Mum has gone from staying in her room all day to coming down and having her meals with everyone also staying to sit in the conservatory.


I'd like to say that the way they've dealt with the Covid-19 situation is amazing. They have put many measures into place, taken extra care and built a gazebo in the garden so we can visit. To me that's above and beyond and we're truly grateful.

From the moment we saw Firgrove we knew it was exactly the right place for Mother. Very friendly and efficient staff and lovely surroundings. So much warmth and care. Mother is healthy and well-fed and is treated with the utmost kindness, respect, and dignity. Her needs and wishes are more than catered
for and she is as happy there as she would be anywhere. She loves the company and entertainments.

My mum has now moved into Firgrove House and has a lovely room with all her special things. She has lived there for nearly a year and has never regretted her decision. The staff are lovely. They are friendly, cheerful, caring and welcoming which makes Firgrove feel very homely. They have a wonderful
relationship with all the residents and know them all so well that it's like one big happy family. Mum's needs couldn't be better met. She loves her food and "special treats". Thank you all so much.

Dad has been in the care home for almost 1 year now and I haven't seen him look so well for a long time. The care he receives is second to none. He is clean and tidy and well-fed. When we were looking for a residential home for our mum local to where I live, that also gave us peace of mind that mum would be well looked after with care, patience, dignity and with friendly staff, and most importantly mum would be happy and feel safe, thankfully we found it in Firgrove House. The
staff are wonderful, patient, caring and above all they take time to talk to all residents. They encourage mum to join in activities but also respect her choice to join in or watch.

My Mum has been a resident at Firgrove House for just over 6 months now. The care she has had is of the highest quality and she has settled really well. This is a small care home, friendly, homely and welcoming. They have been mindful of my Dad now living at home on his own, making sure he can be with
Mum as much as he wants. We are always welcomed warmly and contacted if there are any issues or if Mum is in need of any personal items. As a family we are very comfortable knowing she is being looked after, her personal care is wonderful and she looks really well.

I am extremely happy with the care provided at Firgrove Residential Home. Good physical care is provided by caring staff and my Mother is treated with dignity and respect. Regular and varied activities are provided for the residents to keep them engaged and stimulated. It is a well-run home that looks
at the individual and their specific needs. Staff appear to be well briefed on each shift as to the needs of my mother and act accordingly. I am also very appreciative of how my Father is treated when he visits my Mother.

You need to know about my mum, she was a loving, kind person, so her family needed the same from a home. Firgrove matched my mum's needs and made a huge difference to my mum and her family. Management, carers, cooks, and cleaners worked together to create a great home (within a home). My mum and

We have found the staff extremely helpful and friendly. On all levels, they have provided information care and reassurance to us (the family) and the resident. They have gone out of their way to support us when the resident's husband and our father died to make the transition into care as easy as can
be possible. We are using their dementia care services and feel that all staff and the key worker in particularly understand the care needs of our stepmother.


We have found the home clean and homely with plenty of different seating areas where the residents can find their favourite niche of the day. The garden area outside is well kept and recently was the location for a family garden party celebration, which was a lovely occasion with lots of happy people. Our stepmother constantly tells us she is very happy and loves living there, which is tremendously reassuring.

We would just like to express our gratitude to yourself and all the staff at Firgrove. As we mentioned when we spoke to you on the phone we were very apprehensive about using respite care for mum, but your caring and happy environment put our minds at ease.
A couple of things we were especially pleased
with was that mum managed to put on some weight whilst staying with you, as getting her to eat properly has become an issue whilst staying at home. Also, she said she really enjoyed the activities and chatting to other people in her own age group, which we feel has helped to stimulate her mind.
Once again, thank you and all the staff for the care provided to Anne during her stay, and be assured that Firgrove House is a care home that we would definitely like to use again for Anne respite needs and would have no hesitation in recommending to other people looking for a safe and caring environment for one of their relatives or friends.

Mother is looked after extremely well and with great respect and dignity. I am included in any health conditions and always informed by phone calls if there are any issues.
Food is made on the premises and there is a lovely purposeful atmosphere about the place. Staff are terrific.

My mother has been in Firgrove House for well over a year now. Firgrove House and their staff look after mum's needs well, always putting her first. They also like to look after mum's visitors regularly. The home is always tidy and warm. The food is always good according to mum. The home is now progressing
well in the renovation of their Victorian property, replacing windows, shutters and carpets as necessary. I would recommend this care home to anyone looking to rehome their relations in the Yate area.
