My mother went here for a few weeks the staff couldn't do enough for her. Rooms are exactly what you want when you leave your own home. A room like home but this is more like a hotel great food staff that really care even the management are great there is always something going on, all the residents
seem to be very happy, I cannot thank them enough for looking after my mother and I mean all staff from top to bottom.
Reply from Richard Deverson, Operations Director at Windmill House

Thank you very much for this feedback - we are delighted that your mother was so settled and enjoyed herself at Windmill House. You rightly identify the importance of great staff who work so hard across the care industry. We are very lucky to have such a dedicated team working at the home.

I am happy with Windmill House care home in the way they care for my loved one. When dealing with the manager and assistant managers, I feel I am listened to and they carry out certain wishes that I ask for. However, I have a couple of frustrations. Despite asking for my loved one to have her hair done
in the hairdresser once a week, it does not always happen, even if I remind the care home the night before. I feel it very annoying having to wait a very long time sometimes to be let in the front door, especially when my loved one is with me because after all, this is her home.

Very friendly staff. The grounds were kept well maintained in a beautiful setting. My friend is very happy here. The only downfall was that it was not communicated that we were coming to visit and by the entrance, there was a step and another resident and family member needed my assistance to get her
wheelchair up the step. Health and safety issue! Thank you for allowing the dog to visit. My dad appreciated your staff shouting out 'aren't you gorgeous!'
Reply from Richard Deverson, Ops Director at Windmill House

Many thanks for your feedback and we are delighted that your friend is happy at the home. We welcome visitors at any time so please do not feel the need to call ahead first. Thank you also for the feedback on the single step in the hallway – when we refurbished the entire home in 2012, our architects and builders worked extremely hard to make the home single level as far as possible. The installation of 2 lifts achieve this including a sophisticated 4 stop lift to overcome one change in level. The charm of Windmill House is the historic nature of the entrance hall and to retain this, the small single step in the entrance had to stay – the alternative would have entailed the loss of the historic entrance door and remodelling of the whole entrance to the home and this was deemed too damaging to the home. When required there is alternative level access for wheelchairs to the left of the building and through a rear entrance from the garden – this will be highlighted to all visitors should the need arise again. We always welcome pets to the home and we are delighted that your father enjoyed this visit.
