Was very sad when Derek entered the care home. I would prefered to have looked after him myself but was not possible given my circumstance. However after several weeks, when he had settled down he seemed quite happy. The staff are extremely good to the residents & spend time talking to them. They go out of their way to ensure the residents are happy. Cannot fault the carers.

I visited my friend on 29th April, she has only been a resident for a few weeks. I was shocked because the room was smelly, and the carpet was dirty (and needed a deep cleaning). The carpet in the bathroom was similarly dirty. My friend was wearing dirty clothes that she should have changed every day because she dribbles. My friend uses a Zimmer frame for walking and cannot open the fire door to her room by herself. She needs to call for assistance to use the toilet, and hence, there is a commode in the room. She remarks that the home is short-staffed, so it takes a long time to get help. I compared the home that my mother lived in ( where she was spotlessly clean) I was shocked.

My mother after leaving hospital after a series of falls came to Menwinnion Home to be looked after in respite care. The service and care at Menwinnion has been excellent and the family feel she is safe and being looked after in a nice loving and fun way.

Unfortunately, there are too many care homes that fall beneath acceptable standards for our loved ones. Menwinnion is not one of them. In my opinion care homes are the last homes for the people we once had in our lives, letting them go, to be cared for by others is a truly scary time. Menwinnion has allowed me to hand over my mother in desperate circumstances knowing she is now safe and cared for 24/7.

In the last seven months with the exception of two days I have spent all of my time in three NHS hospitals and two care homes. The staff and management I have met at Menwinnion have all been with the only very occasional exception, kind, helpful and attentive and as a group of people made my life far happier than anywhere else. It is my wish that I will remain here.

My father has been in Menwinnion since 30/04/2022. He is being cared for so well, we cannot thank the staff at Menwinnion enough. we know that he is well-supported there. He is loved by everyone as he is such a character. The staff keep him clean, fed, watered, pain-free, safe and loved and we are grateful for this. We are so glad that he has such an excellent place to stay as we couldn't look after him with Alzheimers.

My experience of Menwinnion is excellent. The staff and management are respectful, kind and caring to the residents and do their utmost to keep them calm and happy in a person-centred way.
When Mum needed to go into care, it was such a difficult time, but decision-making was made easier because of the support we received from the team, helping us to understand every step of the process. Mum was fully involved, given informed choices and asked about how she wanted to be supported in the future when she became less independent. The fact that she could take her beloved cat also made a huge difference to her wellbeing. Mum's dementia has, at times, taken some cruel twists, but the staff adapt to these changes by offering more intensive support to ensure she maintains her dignity. Any concerns about changes to her health are always shared with me and followed up.

I can't thank Menwinnion enough for what they do for my Mum and for how they support us both through the dementia journey.

Our Uncle was resident in Menwinnion Country House for three years until he sadly passed away this year. During that time, we could not fault the care he was given, and particularly so when his health was very poor and his quality of life extremely limited. All the staff came across as warm, thoughtful and genuinely caring. As we all lived some distance away, we were very reassured to know that he was in such good, safe hands.

Menwinnion was always a homely and friendly place with a cheerful and positive atmosphere. The staff were attentive, kind and caring to both my mum and me as a visitor. Mum was treated with respect and the staff spoke knowledgeably about mum without prompting. I feel she had excellent care right up to her death.

My friend is not the most friendly person and has always told people to their face what she thinks of them, this at times is very embarrassing.
She often says she hates the place she is in and when we talk it through it's the best place in the world and the service is better than she gets at a top class hotel.
She has lost a lot of weight since being at Menwinnion but is a very fussy eater.
One thing I would like to see is a hand towel and flannel in her room for her hands to be washed after she has been put on the commode.

Staff and management are very good. Problems get sorted.
