I’m responsible for the care of my husband's first cousin. He has been a resident for 9-10 years. He has a large bedroom overlooking bathe front door. Light and comfortable. He has a daily paper and enjoys his many books and Music with TV in the evenings. He walks aided downstairs for meals. He enjoys chatting with a superb/patient secretary. Longing for the post that never comes nowadays, all so much tec today!
His room and appearance are clean tidy and homely.
He wears quality clothing and somehow it’s lasting, due to care.

I can recommend Trevern.

My sister's husband sadly passed away and the staff at Trevern were so supportive and helped her through this difficult time. A carer accompanied her to the funeral and took good care of her. The care at Trevern is so good for my sister.

Unfortunately, my father had a stroke so mum had to go into care during the lockdown from September 2021. She had the onset of dementia so it was very difficult as we were not able to settle her in or visit regularly. We thought she was in the best place for care but we were unaware that her medication was changed and therefore she suffered with her bowel movements and went downhill, losing over two stones in weight. She had severe sores with apparently no cream available or applied at times. In normal times these things would have been picked up by us immediately. Nearly all her clothes went missing even after new ones were brought in which were named, even her new Christmas ones and her dressing gown disappeared which is unacceptable. I know because of the confusion and the onset of dementia mum may have been difficult at times but this is a professional care home set up to deal with this sort of situation and I do not feel Mum had this care.

As a service we are very sorry for any upset or distress these incidents have caused, the matters raised have been fully investigated and we have taken the learning on board and have changed our processes to ensure a similar situation doesn't arise again.

My husband was in Trevern for 14-months with complex needs after a series of strokes and a bleed on the brain. He was left prone to difficult and challenging behaviour, but the staff at Trevern were unfailingly patient and caring. His dignity was respected at all times, and I know in his better moments, he appreciated that. The staff got to know him and would work around his fluctuating moods to ensure he received the personal care and nourishment he required, and no doubt, some disruption to their own schedules. I was reassured to find there was a nurse in attendance at all times and good liaison with local GP for his changing medical needs. The end of life care was compassionate, and I was relieved to witness how he was allowed to move peacefully towards his end. I also appreciated the emotional support I received.

My mother was a resident at Trevern for two years and sadly passed away in August. The care she received whilst there was amazing, and when she passed away, the staff on duty were wonderful to me also.

My brother-in-law spent 5 weeks end of life care at Trevern in Falmouth at the start of COVID-19. The care he and our family received was exceptional, every single member of staff were wonderful, when he died they were so caring even down to putting a picture a child family member had drawn in his pocket, even though we couldn't visit we know 100% he was being cared for with love.

The staff and management of Treverne really understand the true meaning of care. They have taken the time needed to fully understand my mother's needs in order to give her the best quality of life she can have. My mother feels confident that she can ask any member of staff for help and support and they will do their best to meet her needs. Thank you to all the team at Treverne.

When my mother first arrived at Treverne, she was suffering from extreme anxiety due to her condition (COPD). The staff at Treverne have been caring, considerate and efficient since her arrival in February, which has resulted in my mother becoming calmer and happier in her environment. I cannot praise the team enough for how they have improved the quality of my mothers' life. Thank you!

Trevern has of late been under the guidance of a new manager and has improved in leaps and bounds since her arrival. Agency staff (who do not always know the resident they are caring for) are becoming less in number which means that more Cornwall Care staff are in place and get to know their residents better. The staff are very caring and have a genuine affection for all the residents. Activities have improved in number and variety and seem to "hit the spot".
Rooms and communal areas are clean and bright and airy and the gardens are much improved too - both in cleanliness and appearance.
Communication with relatives is mainly good though there is room for improvement in communication between shifts/nurses/ etc.

There is always a friendly greeting on arrival and the improvement in atmosphere of late is very noticeable.

My experience of Trevern is that the staff are generally friendly, empathetic and hardworking, meeting residents needs. The home has appropriate safety measures such as coded sections. All staff love each other and residents equally and are non-discriminatory. The home is kept clean. Main areas, easy access in reception. Residents are given adequate dietary requirements. However, organisation and management is not always good enough. Some residents require more one to one opportunities. Communication should be improved slightly.

Last year my sister and I spent an anxious time looking for a nursing home for our mother, feeling unhappy at what we had seen until our last viewing at Trevern and we knew it was home. We felt so relieved, everyone was so helpful and friendly, we instantly knew it was right, and so far I cannot fault the care, the staff are all excellent. I give them ten out of ten.
