9.6 Group Review Score (the average from all locations with a review score)
  • Care Homes Owned by Sanctuary Care Ltd
Sanctuary Care was first established in 1995 to provide older people with a range of high-quality care services, including residential, dementia and nursing care.

Part of Sanctuary Group, which is an exempt charity, Sanctuary Care has over 110 homes across England and Scotland. They are proud to be a not-for-profit organisation meaning the surplus made by Sanctuary Care is reinvested into the business which allows them to provide residents with excellent standards of care from well managed and well-maintained homes.

They believe in going above and beyond to enrich people's lives - whether that's residents, their loved ones or staff.

For residents, Sanctuary Care looks at what makes every person unique, the people close to their hearts, their passions and dreams yet to be fulfilled, and the continuity of living they need to feel content, happy and fulfilled. Knowing all of this enables the teams to deliver truly person-centred care to each and every individual who lives in the homes.

Review of

Allanbank Care Home

from Peter W (Son of Resident) published on 26 June 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum has been an Allanbank resident for around 5 weeks at the time of writing this review. Initially mum went in capable of walking, talking, dressing and feeding herself (albeit all with a little help) She was however struggling on her own and becoming increasingly anxious. As a family my brother sister
and I all lived 2 hours away and had been supporting mum at home for over a year. After a series of hospital stays Mum chose Allanbank herself as a way forward.
It was a huge step for us all to consider full time care for Mum and it was huge relief when Mum chose this herself. However, what has made the whole process easier is the quality of care given. Every enquiry is answered efficiently, every concern or request is considered and discussed in a patient manner.
Mum got off to a good start but sadly she took a mild stroke and needed a step-up in care and assistance and staff have excelled in this.
From the outset our experience of the management and staff has been excellent.
Reply from Jacob Hardie, Reviews team at Allanbank Care HomeThank you for sharing such thoughtful and heartfelt feedback. We're so pleased to hear that your mum felt comfortable choosing Allanbank and that our team has been able to support her with kindness, responsiveness and care, especially during a more challenging time. It means a great deal to know this has brought reassurance to you and your family.

Willow Gardens Residential and Nursing Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Respite was needed for 6 days and from start to finish I couldn't have asked for anything better. The Care Home Manager of Willow Gardens explained everything to me and made me feel so supported. The communication was exceptional. I visited the home a couple of weeks before the stay & was given full
access to both floors, I met lots of staff and residents and that told me everything I needed to know, that Willow Gardens was definitely going be my choice for mums care.
If I am lucky enough to have mum still with me next year I would not hesitate to request another respite stay for her there. I thank all of the staff there who provide such amazing care and due to this, such a lovely atmosphere.

Very happy with Willow Gardens. Nothing too much trouble, carers and managers always kind and responsive. Always find a positive and practical approach from everyone. I know is a challenge to accommodate everyone's wishes/tastes but might be useful to survey residents on the dishes they enjoy most.
Also give access to seasoning eg salt pepper according to taste. Mum really enjoys the supper and looks forward to it. Thank you all.

not been disappointed. The staff and what they provide are excellent. We have seen a massive improvement in my mum's overall health and, more importantly, her attitude to life. I am so pleased we made this hard decision to place my mum in this care home. It was undoubtedly the correct decision.

My Father recently returned to meadow view after a short respite stay. Michael and the team welcomed him like an old friend and nothing was too much trouble. The amazing staff helped him settle in and we could relax again knowing he was safe and being cared for. He loves the banter with the team and
genuinely enjoys the atmosphere. EVERY member of staff we have met have been outstanding and updated us regarding dad's condition and needs. I would not hesitate to recommend meadow view and it's truly wonderful staff who always go above and beyond what is expected.

My Mother in law has been in East Park for 16 months, her care is second to none resulting in her mental and physical health as good as its been for a long time. The activities are brilliant, varied and professionally organised. The staff are so approachable, they keep you updated when necessary, and

My Uncle has been resident at Pitcairn Lodge for a month, and I can honestly say his health and wellbeing have improved immensely.
I wasn't sure how he'd adapt, being naturally reserved, but he is happy and absolutely thriving in the warm and caring environment. All the staff are so friendly, and
their gentle encouragement has persuaded my uncle to participate in the excellent range of activities and events on offer.
He's really enjoying the delicious, nutritional meals, and these have contributed to the improvement in his health. Housekeeping and maintenance staff ensure that the home is immaculate, and cleaned to a high professional standard. Every member of staff has been incredibly friendly and compassionate with a 'can do ' attitude. I knew as soon as I met Ruth and Elaine, that the residents welfare and happiness is their priority. In their leadership of the highly professional team, I have total confidence that my uncle is receiving the very best of care. Thank you !

Redannick Residential and Nursing Home

I cannot speak highly enough of the care my mother received. The Care Team are exceptional as are all the staff who work there. The staff were all friendly and approachable. Nothing was too much trouble. My Mum was treated with dignity and respect. The home is very clean and the facilities are sufficient
and functional. The Food was nutritious, tasty, well presented and varied. There are regular events held which the residents and family are encouraged to join in with.
My family members and myself were made to feel very welcome. I was so close to my mother and the staff recognised that and respected this. All the staff were a great support to me throughout. I would have been lost without them. I was never made to feel a nuisance and was allowed to stay with my mum as long as I wanted. All the staff would greet me by name when I arrived and they became my new family for the short while my mum was there. I miss seeing them all very much.
I thoroughly recommend Redannick to everyone.

St Breock Residential Care Home

My Aunt is in her 90's she has been in full time care at St Breock for 18 month's. On admission she was in poor health and struggled with the transition from living independantly in her own home to living in the care home. The first 6 months were pretty tough for all concerned and to be honest I
did question wether or not we had made the correct decision by putting my Aunt into care at St Breock. My concerns were put to rest as my Aunts health and wellbeing started to improve which is predominantley a direct result of the overall care and attention she has received at St Breock.
I fully endorse the comments other reviewers have made about the calibre of the the staff and the overall good performance of the home. Communication is also very good, with phone, texts and emails used to good effect keeping us informed. We all want our loved ones to be safe, happy and well cared for and that is exactly what St Breock Care Home delivers every day for those they care for.

Shaftesbury House Residential Care Home

We visited a number of care homes for my Dad and Auntie, Shaftesbury House was the best, and it has proven to be a good choice. The staff are friendly, everyone always appears to enjoy or at least like their jobs, which translates into really good care for both Dad and my Auntie. Everyone puts a lot
of effort into keeping the residents engaged, and if possible active. My Dad is certainly more lively, and is finding it easier to stand, whilst there is a long way to go, the carers are always looking for opportunities to encourage him to stand which is slowly paying dividends. It is also clear they spend time focusing on the residents needs and likes which makes everything personal, residents are not just a number but someone they get on and actively interact with.

We are happy with the home. Staff are friendly and helpful. Treat residents with compassion and respect. Listen to residents' requests.
Food is served in a friendly manner. Looks healthy and is presented in a tasteful way, taking into account individual residents' needs.
Rooms are well presented,
and clothing is well taken care of, e.g., laundry care and labelling. Mam's room always smells clean and is well ventilated.
Only criticism would be occasional urine smell on the 1st floor corridor.
