  • Care Homes Owned by Sanctuary Care Ltd
Sanctuary Care was first established in 1995 to provide older people with a range of high-quality care services, including residential, dementia and nursing care.

Part of Sanctuary Group, which is an exempt charity, Sanctuary Care has over 110 homes across England and Scotland. They are proud to be a not-for-profit organisation meaning the surplus made by Sanctuary Care is reinvested into the business which allows them to provide residents with excellent standards of care from well managed and well-maintained homes.

They believe in going above and beyond to enrich people's lives - whether that's residents, their loved ones or staff.

For residents, Sanctuary Care looks at what makes every person unique, the people close to their hearts, their passions and dreams yet to be fulfilled, and the continuity of living they need to feel content, happy and fulfilled. Knowing all of this enables the teams to deliver truly person-centred care to each and every individual who lives in the homes.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We were so impressed with Pitcairn when we visited and the very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We were even more delighted to have granny move there for a short time. We couldn't speak more highly about the care and attention that the nurses gave granny. Would recommend to anyone looking for somewhere
to care for a loved one.

Chyvarhas Residential and Nursing Home

from Thomas P (Husband of Resident) published on 9 December 2025

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I was unhappy about my wife, Lesley, being admitted to a nursing home. Lesley, as an SRN, has worked in several, and I have been less than impressed with almost all aspects of most and so, it was with some serious doubt that I agreed to her moving to Chyvarhas. The first couple of weeks dispelled my
fears, she could not be in better hands! Also, on quite a number of occasions, I have been in a distressed state on leaving, and the staff have noticed and showered me with kindness and care. My thanks to them all, they are wonderful.

It's been just over 3 weeks since Dad joined you now and it feels like he's always been there (in a nice way for us not sure about everyone else!). Everyone has made him, and us, feel so welcome and we just wanted to share with everyone how much we appreciate it. It was a hard decision that we weren't
expecting to make and you have all made it more bearable thank YOU ALL so much.

When I made the very hard decision to place my lovely wife into a nursing home because I could no longer cope with her Alzheimer's, I took great care to ensure that she would be happy and well looked after. I wanted somewhere:- 1)The staff were very caring, friendly and happy in their work. The majority
of staff have worked in this home for many years, which indicates that it is well run from the top down. 2) The building was clean, light and airy and well well-furnished and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Upon looking out of the windows, one can see beautiful tended gardens, open fields and hills. Good entertainment is provided and good well-presented, wholesome food. I definitely made the right choice.

My mum has been in Orchard House since March, I cannot praise them highly enough for the care they give her. I know she is being well looked after which gives me great peace of mind. I am always made welcome when I visit and nothing is too much trouble.
I have one negative and that is if I visit at

Mother-in-law (MIL) moved to Orchard House in mid-October as she could no longer be provided with sufficient care visits to keep her safe whilst maintaining a decent quality of life in her independent apartment as her dementia was getting worse. My wife and I were very concerned and sceptical at first
because MIL has always been a bit of a rebel and used to having things her own way, so we didn't think that she would settle easily. To date we have been proven wrong - and that's all down to the level of welcome, care and support that she has received so far from all the staff. We're incredibly grateful as MIL seems very relaxed, happy and settled, which gives us peace of mind. For one that has always been highly critical of anything that didn't meet her approval she has had nothing bad to say which, again, is testament to the excellent attention, motivation and support that she receives daily. It's still early days, but it couldn't have started much better.

I can't thank the staff at Park View for making it possible for my Nan to be able to attend my wedding in October. The staff did her hair, got her dressed and accompanied her to and from the venue. I visited my cousin last week in East Park Court and I was delighted to see her looking so well & happy after being poorly over the summer.
She had gained weight, had her nails painted & was interacting with other residents. Her cheeky personality had come back & she even told me herself that 'being
here has done me good'
The team there are so good, easy to talk to and very supportive. Even when I cant get to visit I'm kept up to date by a phone call or a prompt response to an email. I can't thank them enough for all they have done.

After a positive viewing of CG, I had no reservations about recommending it for a respite stay for mum.
The building itself is modern and very clean, mum's room is spacious and fresh with a pleasant view. With the windows open it feels close to nature which is lovely.
The staff have all been really
approachable and friendly. I would completely agree with other reviewers who have said that the staff are amazing and that nothing seems to be too much trouble for them.
Meals are varied and very well presented, the catering staff work hard to provide good food and happily bring alternatives when mum requests something different.
During my visits both mum and I have been treated with respect and a lot of kindness.
We are now in the process of asking if mum can extend her stay at CG.
Thank you to all CG staff for your caring approach to your work.

I visited my friend yesterday, who has only been living at Cedar Grange for a few weeks. She has settled in so well, thanks to the homely atmosphere and friendly, professional staff. She is better, motivated, moving around more, chatting to other residents and showing care and concern for them. It was
so reassuring to see her engaging with life again after a prolonged stay in the wrong setting and no visiting from her family. You are giving her a new lease of life.

Abercorn Care Home is just an absolute Sanctuary, it is part of the Sanctuary Group and the name is so best appropriate
I would also call it a Hotel for the VIP Residents as they are treated so well and looked after
The Care Home Manager, Assistant Manager, Administrative Manager, Nurses, Staff, Chefs
all work so hard to ensure the Residents are so cared for and attention to detail ix exceptional
Abercorn Care Home is a delight from when you enter, it has a wonderful atmosphere of happiness and it sparkles there is always something going on with the Events Team and they go above and beyond, they are such an inspiration and bring such joy and happiness to not only the Residents but the family and visitors to Abercorn, everyone is included and they are just the best thank you for all you do
I love visiting and they have given my Mum her life back on so many occasions we cannot thank Abercorn and everyone there enough for all they do. Thank you so much

My mum is a resident at the home with dementia. She has settled in very quickly and knows the staff faces, she sometimes forgets names. We were able to bring her own TV, plants, ornaments, pictures and photos which are in her room this has made her settle more easily. The staff on the 2nd floor
are all lovely, they interact with her and also welcome any family members when they visit, they even know our names which is nice. There are lots of activities organised by the home, unfortunately mum doesn't like joining in. The only moan from mum is 'they keep giving me too much food to eat' which is not a criticism , she enjoys eating in the lounge with the other residents and in her own room, it's nice for her to have options when she's not feeling up to it. I would have no hesitation is recommending this home for anyone who wants their loved ones to be cared for, knowing they are in safe hands which gives the family piece of mind.

My brother-in-law has been a resident in one of the flats in Trevern since February 2025. He lived alone previously, and had become unable to care for himself at home because of age-related physical disabilities.
The care he has received at Trevern has been amazing. The kindness and dedication of
the staff and carers is heart warming, and because of their care he has settled in really well now, and has begun to see it as home. He enjoys a chat with the friendly staff and the occasional bit of banter. He has always had a good appetite and he speaks very highly of the quality of the food.
I would thoroughly recommend Trevern to anyone looking for excellent care for their loved one.
