With just 38 bedrooms and a team of devoted staff, The Winsor has a warm, family feel the moment you walk through the door.

The team follow Sanctuary Care’s Enriching Lives framework, based on the six senses people need to feel truly happy and fulfilled – a sense of achievement, belonging, continuity, purpose, significance and security.

They are passionate about encouraging residents to have an active role in how the home is run. The resident ambassadors love to get involved in everything from supporting with activity sessions, to providing feedback to staff.

The residents are also getting involved in the home’s gardening project, planting their own herbs and vegetables, which will be used in the kitchen.

The home is in a stunning location, a stone’s throw from the beach at Minehead. The residents enjoy trips down to the seafront and to places like Blenheim Gardens.

There is so much to do at The Winsor, from pottery classes to baking, with residents making everything from fudge and muffins to their own bread. There are singing and gentle exercise sessions, visits from school children and carpet bowls. Every week the residents love their visits from therapy dogs Grace and Maggie.

There are art and craft sessions, with residents creating everything from hats for St Patrick’s Day to making fat balls for the birds in the garden and items to sell at the summer fete.

The home has some lovely spaces to relax in with family and friends, who are welcome to visit at any time. There are cosy lounges and a garden room, plus a main lounge, with stunning period features.

The home also has a private Facebook group, where family and friends can keep up to date with photos and videos of what the residents have been enjoying.

The residents enjoy delicious home-cooked food in the dining room. There is also a sweet shop and a hair salon, with a mobile hairdresser visiting for regular appointments.

Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2025 weekly care fees for nursing care start at £1491, but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

No problems, no worries, 'bloody marvellous'. As a friend of a resident I would say it is so nice to see my friend starting to enjoy life again. The staff are very attentive and he is very well cared for. He feels safe & secure & enjoys seeing all the staff who provide his care, meals, cleaning - everything.

Dad is very well looked after. The staff always talk to him and ensure he is comfortable. He has a lovely big room with nice views. The food is plentiful and of a high standard. The staff monitor Dad's food and drink intake and give him his medication in a timely manner. The staff are friendly and welcoming

The staff are always cheerful and caring. My mum has been a resident there for the last 3 years and is happy and settled. She loves joining in the activities and enjoys the food, especially the cakes she has every afternoon.
It gives me great peace of mind to know that she is well looked after and
safe. The staff report any concerns they have about her health immediately; this is a great comfort.

My mum recently moved into The Winsor, which is in a great location near the seafront. Staff have been welcoming and kind from day one. My mum has a lovely bright room which she has personalised with ornaments and pictures. She is enjoying eating lunch with others in the dining room and being able to
have a shower and get her hair done. Winsor has a calm atmosphere and is warm and friendly to residents and their visitors.

Lovely and clean nursing home. Friendly and informative staff and professional. Very facilitating to my dad's needs. Friendly welcome. I have put good for facilities due to some rooms visited could do with updating, not my dad's room we chose that's lovely, but others we looked at.

My mother's care has been exceptional, she is bedridden and yet she is encouraged to get involved in any of the activities. She is a loner and prefers her own company, she only likes visitors who she knows, someone has been visiting occasionally and she finds it difficult to talk to them as she doesn't
know them and has nothing in common with them.

My elderly friend has been in hospital for three months and was extremely frail when she moved into The Winsor in Minehead. She has a lovely big room and the staff have taken such good care of her, her health has greatly improved. The food is very good, she is eating much more than previously and is
much stronger, more alert, taking part in some activities, life in general. This is all down to the wonderful caring staff and surroundings and has enabled us to have more quality time with her. Can't thank you enough.

We have to move Mum from a care home to nursing home for the expertise of Mum and handling equipment and staff. Mum is at risk of aspiration and was lying down to eat/drink - needs to sit out for meals. The bed rail is higher than the mattress, makes getting out hard. Needs latest stand aid to stand
safely but the home doesn't have one and unsure if has a sling for the electric stand aid. No bed sensor in place as requested - re. falls.
The staff looking after Mum are lovely and very welcoming to family. Video call and activity coordinator - Mum's only way to hear and communicate with me is vid video call but only available Monday - Friday, 9-5 and I work too, need someone to operate it for only 10 minutes at the weekend please.

My mum moved to The Winsor at the beginning of this year. We have been so happy with the care, kindness and support Mum has been given. She has been surrounded by smiling, caring staff, who treat everyone with kindness and dignity. The Winsor is a happy and friendly home where visitors feel welcome.
Mum is so safe there, all her needs are met whilst she is treated with respect, patience and understanding by all staff. Thank you.

Mother has settled in well since her move from hospital. Although she is bedbound she seems happy and enjoys her time watching TV and doing her crosswords etc. She does seem to have lost most of her hearing which hopefully will be sorted soon.
