With just 38 bedrooms and a team of devoted staff, The Winsor has a warm, family feel the moment you walk through the door.

The team follow Sanctuary Care’s Enriching Lives framework, based on the six senses people need to feel truly happy and fulfilled – a sense of achievement, belonging, continuity, purpose, significance and security.

They are passionate about encouraging residents to have an active role in how the home is run. The resident ambassadors love to get involved in everything from supporting with activity sessions, to providing feedback to staff.

The residents are also getting involved in the home’s gardening project, planting their own herbs and vegetables, which will be used in the kitchen.

The home is in a stunning location, a stone’s throw from the beach at Minehead. The residents enjoy trips down to the seafront and to places like Blenheim Gardens.

There is so much to do at The Winsor, from pottery classes to baking, with residents making everything from fudge and muffins to their own bread. There are singing and gentle exercise sessions, visits from school children and carpet bowls. Every week the residents love their visits from therapy dogs Grace and Maggie.

There are art and craft sessions, with residents creating everything from hats for St Patrick’s Day to making fat balls for the birds in the garden and items to sell at the summer fete.

The home has some lovely spaces to relax in with family and friends, who are welcome to visit at any time. There are cosy lounges and a garden room, plus a main lounge, with stunning period features.

The home also has a private Facebook group, where family and friends can keep up to date with photos and videos of what the residents have been enjoying.

The residents enjoy delicious home-cooked food in the dining room. There is also a sweet shop and a hair salon, with a mobile hairdresser visiting for regular appointments.

Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2025 weekly care fees for nursing care start at £1491, but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

My husband was admitted to The Winsor Nursing Home in February 2016. Recommended by the local hospice as he is suffering from terminal liver cancer and three fractures of the hip which cannot pinned. From day 1 he was made comfortable and I was made to feel welcome. I spend about 5 hours a day with
him which includes having lunch in his room. The lunches are excellent and the staff now puree his food so that he can feed himself. Every member of of staff is very helpful, pleasant, kind and polite.
