With just 38 bedrooms and a team of devoted staff, The Winsor has a warm, family feel the moment you walk through the door.

The team follow Sanctuary Care’s Enriching Lives framework, based on the six senses people need to feel truly happy and fulfilled – a sense of achievement, belonging, continuity, purpose, significance and security.

They are passionate about encouraging residents to have an active role in how the home is run. The resident ambassadors love to get involved in everything from supporting with activity sessions, to providing feedback to staff.

The residents are also getting involved in the home’s gardening project, planting their own herbs and vegetables, which will be used in the kitchen.

The home is in a stunning location, a stone’s throw from the beach at Minehead. The residents enjoy trips down to the seafront and to places like Blenheim Gardens.

There is so much to do at The Winsor, from pottery classes to baking, with residents making everything from fudge and muffins to their own bread. There are singing and gentle exercise sessions, visits from school children and carpet bowls. Every week the residents love their visits from therapy dogs Grace and Maggie.

There are art and craft sessions, with residents creating everything from hats for St Patrick’s Day to making fat balls for the birds in the garden and items to sell at the summer fete.

The home has some lovely spaces to relax in with family and friends, who are welcome to visit at any time. There are cosy lounges and a garden room, plus a main lounge, with stunning period features.

The home also has a private Facebook group, where family and friends can keep up to date with photos and videos of what the residents have been enjoying.

The residents enjoy delicious home-cooked food in the dining room. There is also a sweet shop and a hair salon, with a mobile hairdresser visiting for regular appointments.

Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2025 weekly care fees for nursing care start at £1491, but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

So glad my husband is in 'The Windsor Hotel' (The Windsor Nursing Home). Staff are friendly and polite and he seems to get on very well with them, which of course is the most important thing. Sometimes the food is not hot enough so he doesn't always finish his meal.

Dad was transferred from a nursing home in another location. The transfer went well with good communication between the two homes. The home has a good atmosphere with all staff helpful and friendly. Relatives have good access at all times.
Management is excellent with a 'hands-on' approach. I have
seen evidence of management going above and beyond to the benefit of residents and staff. Before Dad moved in I had good feedback from different sources from external sources.

I've been visiting the home for almost a year, there is nothing I can be negative about. During this time, they have made my friend so comfortable and at home, they have gone the extra mile to make sure she is happy. The staff are amazing, they are always going in to see her, making sure she has everything
she needs, popping in to just chat etc. One of them even writes down all the football fixtures for her in her own time as she's a big football fan. I always feel welcomed when visiting, the staff are so friendly.

I have been impressed and incredibly relieved to find such very good care at The Winsor. The staff are excellent and much more proactive than in our previous care experience. My husband has only been here for three weeks, but already, his horizons have been widened - he now has a wheelchair, goes downstairs
from time to time - has been wheeled outside today!

All the staff are very helpful, kind and very respectful of Dad's needs. The atmosphere of The Winsor Nursing Home is very homely, light and bright, not at all utilitarian. Lovely and friendly. Very welcoming.

The Winsor Nursing Home is a beautiful place. The standard of care is exceptional, and the staff are all very caring and friendly. It is spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. The food is very good too. My mother is settling in well and has enjoyed the pottery sessions. She particularly loves the
visiting dog, who comes to the home quite often.

I find the care my husband is receiving very good. He is well looked after and I have no worries about him. I phone him every day when I am not able to go to the home and everyone is so helpful to me and my husband.

My wife became a resident in December 2019. "Covid-19" restrictions have been in place for 12-months. Visiting has thus been severely restricted or stopped for two "lockdown" periods, so personal observation on the review options were limited. The ratings relied on her descriptions and family phone
calls with management and staff - all extremely satisfactory. The nursing and care for my wife has been very good and a great reassurance to the family and I.

Staff at The Winsor have always treated my mother with care, patience and with a cheerful disposition. During the pandemic, when I or others in the family have not been able to visit Mum in her room, we have always been confident that Mum is in good hands. If we contact the home with a concern or query,

I visited this home with my wife in September 2019 and we were both impressed. It was up to my wife to decide and she said yea to The Windsor. The staff have taken good care of her even with the extra stress of Covid-19. I will be glad when it's all over so as I can take her out for walks along the
promenade.

I have not been able to enter the care/nursing home since my husband was transferred from hospital in May this year, but staff have been very helpful in enabling me to see my husband regularly in the garden room. He is, however, rather forgetful and lonely. He does enjoy the meals very much.

This is a good nursing home and I am happy to be here but I am very surprised at the poor quality of some of the food. I suspect much of it comes pre-cooked or frozen, the fish is inedible and menus not well balanced. The government is constantly urging us to eat five a day, support local traders and
to buy British and seasonal food when possible, thus reducing food miles and causing less atmospheric pollution. Since lockdown, this is even more important and it is a great pity it is not carried out here. Try the menus for six months yourselves.
