With just 38 bedrooms and a team of devoted staff, The Winsor has a warm, family feel the moment you walk through the door.

The team follow Sanctuary Care’s Enriching Lives framework, based on the six senses people need to feel truly happy and fulfilled – a sense of achievement, belonging, continuity, purpose, significance and security.

They are passionate about encouraging residents to have an active role in how the home is run. The resident ambassadors love to get involved in everything from supporting with activity sessions, to providing feedback to staff.

The residents are also getting involved in the home’s gardening project, planting their own herbs and vegetables, which will be used in the kitchen.

The home is in a stunning location, a stone’s throw from the beach at Minehead. The residents enjoy trips down to the seafront and to places like Blenheim Gardens.

There is so much to do at The Winsor, from pottery classes to baking, with residents making everything from fudge and muffins to their own bread. There are singing and gentle exercise sessions, visits from school children and carpet bowls. Every week the residents love their visits from therapy dogs Grace and Maggie.

There are art and craft sessions, with residents creating everything from hats for St Patrick’s Day to making fat balls for the birds in the garden and items to sell at the summer fete.

The home has some lovely spaces to relax in with family and friends, who are welcome to visit at any time. There are cosy lounges and a garden room, plus a main lounge, with stunning period features.

The home also has a private Facebook group, where family and friends can keep up to date with photos and videos of what the residents have been enjoying.

The residents enjoy delicious home-cooked food in the dining room. There is also a sweet shop and a hair salon, with a mobile hairdresser visiting for regular appointments.

Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2025 weekly care fees for nursing care start at £1491, but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

The Winsor Nursing Home is a home with staff who truly care for the residents and show sincere and genuine compassion towards them. The staff were always willing to talk to family members and offered comprehensive information, care and concern. In two and a half years we had no cause to be anything
other than very grateful to the staff.

My mother has been in The Winsor since mid-July 2018. During that time I have been overall happy with the care she has received. If a small problem or query has arisen I have been happy with how it has been resolved. The management and staff have cared for her with kindness and dignity and when visiting
her I have noted that this applies to all the other residents around. She is always kept well dressed and clean, including her hair and nails.

Such a lovely home. They really do take care and look after the needs of the person that needs looking after and when you come to visit they always make you feel welcome. It really is lovely that they have got my mum into the sitting room to mix with other people.

Very welcoming, staff approachable. Notified if my Aunt is poorly or needs anything.
In the welcome brochure it stated residents go out for walks - lack of staff, this doesn't happen.

I am visiting family from overseas and have been visiting my aunt. I am very impressed with the facility. The food served looks fresh and appealing, cheese and fruit was served up this afternoon, very fresh. My aunt always looks well cared for, her room is lovely. Her belongings are clean and neatly
put away. The staff are friendly and very helpful.

Mum has been at The Winsor Nursing Home for just over a month now.
She has advanced dementia.
When she first arrived, she was so confused and agitated.
She has settled in really well. The staff are very caring and the food is excellent.

My husband of 59 years was only relocated to The Winsor Nursing Home a week ago - he had a very severe brain injury and the positive improvement and attention he has received in just a week is remarkable.


The staff are very patient and look for many ways to stimulate him and it definitely shows.

I and the family are very pleased and can only expect even better results going forward. Thank you.

All of the staff at The Winsor are very caring towards the residents and their families. I feel that my husband and I were always listened to throughout his time there. As a full nursing home, the atmosphere is small, intimate and welcoming.
The home is always very clean and it was comforting to know

My husband was in The Winsor for the last 5 days of his terminal cancer. During that short time, I cannot praise enough the care, dedication and kindness shown to my husband but also to me.
Nothing was too much trouble for them, they made sure he was comfortable and as pain-free as possible.
He
always looked so fresh and clean.
I cannot express my gratitude to all the staff enough, they were wonderful.

This nursing home is a home from home. The first thing you notice is it smells fresh and clean. Staff welcome you, are happy to chat and make you feel at ease. The residents' lounge is friendly and active.

A heartfelt thanks to all the staff at The Winsor. All the staff show so much care and compassion and this starts with the management and goes all the way down through the carers, reception, cleaners. The home is so clean. I'm so happy my dad has spent the last few months of his life here.

In the time that mum has been in the home (3.5years), I have felt comfortable enough to drop in at all times of the day, from very early to late evening and move freely around the home. (without invading privacy of the residents)
The staff were always being respectful, patient and caring. The building
is clean and attractive throughout, the meals are good and I love to hear the staff laughing and joking with one another and I'm sure the residents do too.
Office, nursing staff and management are very approachable and helpful.

Staff always helpful. Though one occasion no one was in the lounge with the residents. My mother's room is often a bit smelly and my mother is showered regularly. Activities often very lax not enough. No chair based exercise or such like either.
