I find the care my husband is receiving very good. He is well looked after and I have no worries about him. I phone him every day when I am not able to go to the home and everyone is so helpful to me and my husband.

This is our second experience of a care home and I have been very favourably impressed with the efforts made to cope with the restrictions on activity caused by covid. The staff have cared for my wife (and me) in a very good way.

My wife became a resident in December 2019. "Covid-19" restrictions have been in place for 12-months. Visiting has thus been severely restricted or stopped for two "lockdown" periods, so personal observation on the review options were limited. The ratings relied on her descriptions and family phone calls with management and staff - all extremely satisfactory. The nursing and care for my wife has been very good and a great reassurance to the family and I.

I have found the staff and management team at The Winsor, are one of the most caring and thoughtful people I have ever associated with. In this unfortunate time, (Coronavirus), they have kept me fully aware of what is happening. I have been involved in other nursing homes in the area, and The Winsor beats all.

Staff at The Winsor have always treated my mother with care, patience and with a cheerful disposition. During the pandemic, when I or others in the family have not been able to visit Mum in her room, we have always been confident that Mum is in good hands. If we contact the home with a concern or query, we are always dealt with efficiently, co-operation and polite cheerfulness.

I visited this home with my wife in September 2019 and we were both impressed. It was up to my wife to decide and she said yea to The Windsor. The staff have taken good care of her even with the extra stress of Covid-19. I will be glad when it's all over so as I can take her out for walks along the promenade.

I have not been able to enter the care/nursing home since my husband was transferred from hospital in May this year, but staff have been very helpful in enabling me to see my husband regularly in the garden room. He is, however, rather forgetful and lonely. He does enjoy the meals very much.

Review from E L (Resident / Service User) published on 21 August 2020 Submitted via Postal Card

This is a good nursing home and I am happy to be here but I am very surprised at the poor quality of some of the food. I suspect much of it comes pre-cooked or frozen, the fish is inedible and menus not well balanced. The government is constantly urging us to eat five a day, support local traders and to buy British and seasonal food when possible, thus reducing food miles and causing less atmospheric pollution. Since lockdown, this is even more important and it is a great pity it is not carried out here. Try the menus for six months yourselves.

Reply from Fae Doherty, Senior Marketing Officer at The Winsor Nursing Home

Thank you for your kind words about our home and for your feedback about our menu. All of our meals are home-cooked and our menu has been selected with both nutrition and the tastes of our residents in mind - I will be sure to pass your feedback on, as it is truly invaluable to our team. The Winsor Nursing Home is a home with staff who truly care for the residents and show sincere and genuine compassion towards them. The staff were always willing to talk to family members and offered comprehensive information, care and concern. In two and a half years we had no cause to be anything other than very grateful to the staff.

My mother has been in The Winsor since mid-July 2018. During that time I have been overall happy with the care she has received. If a small problem or query has arisen I have been happy with how it has been resolved. The management and staff have cared for her with kindness and dignity and when visiting her I have noted that this applies to all the other residents around. She is always kept well dressed and clean, including her hair and nails.

Such a lovely home. They really do take care and look after the needs of the person that needs looking after and when you come to visit they always make you feel welcome. It really is lovely that they have got my mum into the sitting room to mix with other people.

So pleased the person I love has come into such a great home. Thank you.

Very welcoming, staff approachable. Notified if my Aunt is poorly or needs anything.

In the welcome brochure it stated residents go out for walks - lack of staff, this doesn't happen.

I am visiting family from overseas and have been visiting my aunt. I am very impressed with the facility. The food served looks fresh and appealing, cheese and fruit was served up this afternoon, very fresh. My aunt always looks well cared for, her room is lovely. Her belongings are clean and neatly put away. The staff are friendly and very helpful.

My husband of 59 years was only relocated to The Winsor Nursing Home a week ago - he had a very severe brain injury and the positive improvement and attention he has received in just a week is remarkable.

The staff are very patient and look for many ways to stimulate him and it definitely shows. I and the family are very pleased and can only expect even better results going forward. Thank you.
