I stayed at Pengover House, Liskeard for 1 week's respite care. The staff were wonderful. They were very caring and sensitive to my needs; I couldn't have received anything better. The food was excellent, and drinks always available. Pengover House is somewhere I would consider visiting again. It is
a very bright and happy place. The staff always have a smile on their faces. Thank you Pengover House.

My experience was 2nd to none. My dad was only in Chyvarhas for a week until he passed away, but was made to feel cared for and very comfortable. The excellent nursing staff took great care of my sister and I while dad deteriorated and ultimately passed away. Would highly recommend.

My sister has recently moved to Trevarna and I am so pleased that we have found such a lovely place for her. The staff are so caring and take time to engage with all the residents. She has been made to feel so welcome. Further the rooms and communal areas are very clean. The manager was so easy to talk
to and made the effort to welcome me as a family member. Thank you Trevarna!

My sister-in-law was at Pengover for only a short time (palliative care). The nursing care was absolutely top notch - they were absolutely on it when it came to adjusting her syringe driver and deciding on top-up medications as necessary to keep her comfortable in her final days. The whole team were
fabulous, very caring and attentive and together they did a wonderful job of looking after her (and us), bless them. Nothing was too much trouble and we really couldn't have asked for better care. They were always smiley and lovely, and made us very welcome (including our dog), night and day . We were so glad she came to Pengover!

Cedar Grange Residential and Nursing Home

from C B (Daughter of Resident) published on 8 September 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5
Our experience was that this care home was not the right placement for our mum following her stroke, and it was necessary to find more appropriate care . The care followed a very structured routine, with little flexibility for individual needs.
It did not feel person-centred, which caused mum to
acquire unnecessary anxiety around everyday tasks like eating and personal care. The home was also unable to consistently provide meals at the appropriate IDDSI levels, which added to her anxiety around mealtimes. At a time when Mum needed gentleness, kindness, and reassurance, the unyielding schedule did not adapt to her situation. This was very difficult for her, and as a family, it was hard to witness. For someone vulnerable but still very aware, the environment did not provide the comfort or dignity we had hoped for .Mum is now settled in a new home that totally supports her needs. Our experience was difficult, but we hope sharing it helps families make informed choices.

As a family, we love the level of care and attention that mum receives at St Martins. The staff are kind and attentive, and the layout of the building really suits her needs. We have experienced many care home environments during periods of respite, and St Martins has always been the best. Mum seems
very comfortable there and is now a permanent resident. A big shout out to the manager and his staff who are always very patient and kind to me and my family. Despite our endless questions! This care home comes highly recommended.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
This is a general review of how fabulously kind, caring and understanding all the staff at Trewartha are at all times and how nothing is too much trouble, the friendly welcome we always receive, the levels of care and compassion that our mum is always shown and the speed and efficiency that any enquiry
or query is dealt with. We had to find somewhere at reasonably short notice to get mum into after some problems at home and hospital visits left her unable to cope on her own. Me and my two sisters faced the difficult decision to move mum from her long time home into care, but the whole experience was made much easier by the reassurance and compassion shown to us all by the Trewartha team .Mum is happy and safe, fed and watered, has her own lovely room, is well known by the staff and it has given us all peace of mind knowing that mum is so well looked after. We cant speak highly enough of Trewartha and all of its staff, our mum could not be in better hands! Thankyou for everything you do

On arrival I was greeted at reception and went downstairs all staff I saw smiled and friendly mum was sat in lounge/tv area - she was sleeping. Staff came up to me welcoming, got me a chair. Mum was really cosy with a blanket, clean, washed and fresh. Her room was clean and fresh. It is lovely to see
how the home has improved over the last 12 months, friendly staff, who care and she is always looking clean, hair washed etc. Sadly she can't join in with activities so much these days but lovely to see and read that so much is going on. Thank you.

Cedar Grange Residential and Nursing Home

from S C (Daughter of Resident) published on 1 August 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5
My mother was admitted to Cedar Grange following a severe stroke and required nursing care, a Level 5 IDDSI diet, and full mobility and personal care support. We encountered ongoing issues with her dietary and continence needs. Meals were often unsuitable for her swallowing difficulties, creating safety
risks. Personal care was strictly scheduled, so she sometimes waited an unacceptably long time for assistance, leaving her uncomfortable, distressed, and anxious. Over time, she lost confidence that staff would respond promptly when she needed help.
Two safeguarding concerns were raised - one by us and one by visiting professionals. We also observed low staff morale and a lack of visible leadership. When concerns were raised, responses felt defensive rather than collaborative.
We moved Mum to a different home, where she now receives more appropriate, attentive, and compassionate care.
Reply from Fae Doherty, Senior Marketing Officer at Cedar Grange Residential and Nursing Home

We are truly sorry to hear that you do not feel your mother's time at Cedar Grange met the standards of care and dignity we are so proud to provide at our home. Your concerns raised continue to be investigated by our home and regional management team who will be in touch with you shortly.

All the staff were friendly and welcoming and built up a wonderful rapport with my mum. They provided excellent care and made her quickly feel like part of the family. She enjoyed taking part in most of the activities provided. The atmosphere at the home was calm and unhurried and spotlessly clean.
The dining room was the hub of the home and was set out to welcome everyone. The food was very good and nourishing. Mums food preferences were acknowledged and alternatives provided. It was nice for the residents and their families to be able to spend time in the garden although it was a little overgrown. Staff always had time for a chat and showed an interest in mum. We all felt she was well cared for and safe. The only issues were the difficulties in parking when visiting and knowing if the entry bell had rung and been heard.

Since my sister has been in Blackwood house her health has improved such a lot. Within a week we could see a difference in her. All the staff are caring and very friendly. Everything is clean and bright. We can rest easy knowing she is well cared for.
