Reviews

8.4 St Breock has a Review Score of 8.4 (8.364)

The Review Score of 8.4 (maximum of 10) for St Breock is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for St Breock in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.469 for St Breock is calculated as follows: ( (48 Excellents x 5) + (45 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.469

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.895 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Breock is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.5

    2. Target of 7.6 positive Reviews (38 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 3 Reviews ÷ 7.6 Target = 0.395

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My mother had been in 2 other homes previous to St Breock, I can honestly say how much my mum has settled down. The carers are so helpful and as I visit my mum, I listen and watch them empathising with the other residents. The home is clean and friendly with a welcoming smile at the reception. The manager and assistant manager are very quick in helping anyone that has a problem.

All staff are very helpful and caring. Food is good. Staffing changes have met with more agency staff at weekends who are not as familiar with residents which is unfortunate.

My wife has been in two different homes prior to St Breock. I have to say this home is superior in layout and I am more than happy with the care and support my wife has received since being here. The staff are kind, friendly and courteous even though they are always so busy.

The staff are always welcoming and immediately tell me how my mother has been. They always have her best interests at the fore i.e my mother has been turning everything in a circular motion i.e plates, glasses, cups etc. They have given her a non-slip mat and she is now able to feed herself although they assist when necessary and no negligible weight loss has occurred in someone who is in end stage dementia, well done.

The care and dignity shown to my mother from the manager and his brilliant staff make me feel at ease. Every detail of my mother's needs are looked at and a plan put in place to deal with her needs, as well as can be expected. All staff are very approachable and can't do enough to look after my mother.

Dad settled easily into life at St Breock. The staff are very attentive, very thorough records are kept of everything that goes on from day to day. We have always been swiftly informed of any particular issues or problems as it's occurred. He eats well, and seems to be calmer and less agitated than he was before he moved into St Breock.

My mother was at St Breock from January to March, when she passed away. The care at the home was amazing from management and all the staff. The warmth we felt when visiting, and the way my mum's last few weeks will be remembered always. She was happy interested in everything that was going on, we only wished we could have had more time with her there. Her family can't thank you enough for giving us quality time with our mother.

It was wonderful to have Mum so loved and cared for every minute of the day and night during her last
fifteen months of her 98 years of life at St Breock. Mum had lived in the countryside all her life - full of us her seven Children and Dad of course but for me it was brilliant to witness Mum making new friends and with one lady in particular. The Staff made my Mums daily life special. She chose to sit in Reception where she could see all the comings and goings - some days there was quite a party atmosphere. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and the management - who would have thought Mum would actually go to the Royal Cornwall Show - well she did - was taken in the bus and loved it. My mum was not alone, had good stimulating company, wholesome food, warmth and genuine loving care - I shall be eternally grateful - thank you.
