My 90 year old friend and neighbour became a resident at Lyons Court, Chelmsford at the end of Dec 2025. As a result of the outstanding care and support which she has received there, she has settled well and is very happy. Her room is beautiful, well equipped and spotlessly clean. She has her meals
in a beautiful dining room and also has the use of a communal lounge. A range of activities are available including seated exercise classes and church services. There is also an onsite hair salon and a chiropodist who visits regularly. The food is excellent and the staff very caring and supportive. Her laundry is always undertaken in a timely manner and special thanks go to the Managers, Gemma and Lorraine, who are extremely helpful answering all manner of questions. In short, my lovely ex-neighbour and friend has found a professional, caring environment for this new stage of her life. I would have no hesitation in recommending Lyons Court, Chelmsford to anyone needing residential care.

I don't think that there is another care home that can better Don Thomson. All the staff go above and beyond. It's a very welcoming place and I'm kept informed about any changes in my mum's care. My mum who is nearly 99 is really happy there

Mum has been living at DT for 4 years now, over which time her illness has progressed. At every stage the staff are understanding, caring and supportive to both mum and me! I describe the staff (every single one)as Angels , they are all friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
Mum is happy here ,
there is a lot of laughter and a lot of fun.
Since mum joined her happiness level increased in line with her waistband ... The food is home cooked, nutritious and plentiful

I cannot fault anything about Don Thomson House. My mother is settled and very happy and in her words, "can't grumble about anything". The care and attention to the residents is second to none and the staff are always very accommodating, going that extra mile to ensure the needs of the residents
are catered for. Everywhere is very clean and I have no issue with allowing my 9 month old grandson to crawl around when visiting my mother. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home.

My mum, has been in DT now for the last 9 years, I cannot praise what a wonderful job that all the staff do in caring for my mum enough. Mum has always been loved by all the staff and she has grown to love them. The Manager has grown with the home so therefore is the best person for the job, she knows
all the residents inside and out, she is always available for any problems that may arise and has always got a welcoming smile.
I would and do have no problem in recommending this as a lovely caring home and cannot be more grateful that my mum is so well looked after

We first visited Don Thomson House after a family recommendation and due to its location. We were immediately struck by how warm and friendly the atmosphere was and how accommodating the staff were. It has a light and airy dining room which overlooks the lovely garden. Since our mother moved in and
is settling down, we have continued to be impressed by the high quality of the care. The staff are kind, perceptive, supportive, flexible and efficient. They also have a great sense of humour which anyone with a family member suffering from dementia will appreciate. We highly recommend this home.

My husband has been in this care home for 20 months. I have found the manager and all care staff very dedicated people in all aspects of the job. They apply the same respect towards the residents as well as relatives, there are regular residents meetings and residents are given a weekly schedule for
activities, there is a monthly newsletter for all residents and relatives. My experience of the home is excellent along with the management and staff. I often tell people about the home if they should need it in the future for their relative. The manager holds regular meetings for the relatives. The manager and all staff are always very helpful if needed.

My Mother in law has been a resident at Lyons Court since June 2023. I have always been impressed by the care she has received. Over the years she has been a resident, her health has deteriorated gradually and her care needs have increased. The extra care she has needed has always been addressed by
the home without the family having to raise any issues.
Lyons Court is a small home, where the friendly staff know their residents exceptionally well and their needs. The care provided is excellent and my Mother in law is very happy there and has a close relationship with her carers and I do too.

Perhaps more importantly the Home Manager is (duties permitting) always available and very approachable.

My son was a resident at Lyons Court care home for a number of years where he received the very best love and care. You hear horror stories about care homes. This does not apply to Lyons court and was treated with absolute love and respect. The premises were always in absolute first class condition.
The food in line with a top hotel and if he wanted anything it was there for him straight away I could not forget the place. My son loved it there.
