The nurturing care my father receives at Barony Lodge is something I will always be grateful for. There are so many activities and opportunities for residents to take part in, and it's wonderful to see how much thought and kindness goes into every day.
Today created memories I will treasure forever.
When I visited today, Dad was listening to Carl, who had come in to entertain the residents, and he was able to join in singing songs from his youth. I honestly can't explain how happy - and emotional - this made me all at once.
A massive thank you to all the staff at Barony Lodge who go above and beyond every single day. Moving Dad here was definitely the best decision we could have made.
Reply from Jacob Hardie, Design and Marketing Assistant at Barony Lodge Residential Care HomeThank you for sharing such a heartfelt review. My dad has been at Upton Dene since March 2023, during that period we have been through every emotion trying to navigate the difficult journey that is Alzheimer's. The amazing staff at Upton Dene have been with us every step of the way, their support, empathy, kindness and practical advice has been
vital and so much appreciated.
Dad is well cared for, always clean and comfortable, especially now he is confined to bed. Leaving a loved one in a care home is the hardest thing ever, however, every single staff member has helped us learn to deal with this and the cheerfulness even in difficult times means so much. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone.
Thank you

My 106 year old mum was taken very ill in late December with an oral abscess and needed 24 hour care.
At very short notice the staff at Upton Dene made a room available for mum and I was able to take her in on Christmas Eve.
Mum had never previously experienced a care home but settled in immediately.
With
constant care, three meals a day, which she loved, and careful attention to her medicines mum made a strong recovery over the next two weeks.
She thought all the staff were very kind and without their diligence and support mum would not have been able to recover and ultimately go home to resume her independent life .
We, her family, are also very grateful for the love and attention that mum received and wouldn't hesitate in recommending Upton Dene to family and friends.
Many thanks

My neighbour Derek and his wife Muriel moved into Upton Dene in March 2023 as they were too old to care for themselves. They were happy there and found the lounges and decor was like a hotel, with plenty of staff to care for them. They joined in with activities, Muriel played bingo and Derek liked the
singing and the visits from the Veterans association. They enjoyed the food as it was tasty and nicely presented with flowers on the table. Muriel passed away in September 2024 and Derek on 11th January 2026. I had chosen the home for them when Derek came out of hospital. They had to be house on separate floors as Muriel needed extra care but they met regularly. Sadly I have had dealings with three other care homes and this one was far the best. The staff made me welcome when I visited and worked hard. It is not an easy job

My mum was taken seriously ill in April and was rushed to hospital. The staff at Upton Dene supported us throughout, helped liaise with hospital staff to make sure mums needs were addressed and in place on her return and mum was genuinely welcomed back with huge smiles and relief. The care given to
us as a family and my mum in particular was superb, as always.

The lodge provides a variety of spaces for residents to rest, take part in activities and keep busy or rest quietly. The garden, with its sunroom also provides a great space for keeping active. On settling mum (dementia patient) into the home, the staff (Adele in particular) were warm, reassuring and
provided great support for my brother and i in convincing mum that she would be comfortable. Since then staff have been warm and friendly to mum and all her visitors. Any arising issues (meds, showering, laundry etc) have been dealt with swiftly and in a fashion that left us with confidence that they would be reliably fulfilled. The activities provide good stimulation for patients who need/want to keep busy. A nice place to come and visit!

On our initial visit to Bradwell Court we observed the lounge and dining area and the interaction between residents and staff. We immediately got a really good feeling which was further reinforced after discussions with the Deputy Manager. Although Dad has only been at Bradwell Court for nine weeks
we have come to know many of the wonderful staff and the way the home works. The atmosphere is homely and peaceful. Every time we visit we thank our lucky stars that we chose Bradwell Court. There isn't a 5-star hotel style reception with a dedicated receptionist, but more importantly there are incredible caring and dedicated staff for whom nothing is ever too much trouble. The residents are clearly the number one priority, and there's always a very warm welcome for visitors too. We know that dad is receiving the best possible care and attention, his needs are being met, he is treated with respect and dignity and he really does matter to those caring for him. We couldn't ask for more.

My wife was admitted to Bradwell Court at the start of February. It has been a difficult period of adjustment for her and for myself but the carers have been unfailingly kind in helping me to negotiate this difficult transition. My wife is still struggling to adjust to her new environment and changed
circumstances and I will be able to offer a more informed judgement about the care home when she has been resident for longer - but thus far I have been happy with the support we have both received and with the overall provision

Mum moved into Baraony Lodge in December 2025. It was a very difficult time for me and my sisters, however the deputy manager and all the staff have been so kind and supportive, not only to mum but to us and the family. They made us all so welcome allowing mum to settle in relatively quickly. The hygiene
standard is amazing, everywhere is so clean. All staff are really friendly, patient and professional in their approach to the care they provide to all residents. It is a pleasure to visit mum and spend time with her in the lounge/dining area of barony Lodge. I have to also comment on the exceptional standard and quality of the food at Barony Lodge, my sisters live in Devon and have enjoyed meals with mum when they travel up to visit her. I/we can relax knowing mum is being well cared for and her every need catered for. She also enjoys the daily activities provided at the care home with new friends she has made there.

My parents moved into Barony Lodge for respite care in early January 2026. Sadly my dad passed away a short while after they moved in. My mum chose to remain as a full-time resident and is very happy with her decision. She is very well looked after by the staff who are all very caring and helpful
and as she puts it 'they all have time for me and nothing is too much trouble'. She likes the food very much and the surroundings. There are plenty of activities available for those who wish to join in. As a family we are very impressed with all aspects of Barony Lodge and feel confident that mum is receiving the best care. I recently had the opportunity to visit Bradwell Court Care Home, and I was impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are consistently attentive, professional, and compassionate, taking the time to understand the individual needs of each resident.
The facility itself is well-maintained,
clean, and thoughtfully designed to create a comfortable, homely environment. Communal areas are inviting, and there are plenty of opportunities for social interaction, which seems to contribute positively to residents' wellbeing.
One of the standout aspects is the range of activities offered. From creative arts to gentle exercise programs, residents are encouraged to stay engaged and active, which is clearly reflected in their overall mood and engagement.
Meals are varied and nutritious, catering to different dietary requirements, and the staff are accommodating when residents have specific preferences or needs.

Bradwell Court Residential Care Home has just been included the Top 20 of all care homes in the North West for the 2nd year running. Not only that but have just been awarded the accolade of 6 Steps to Success for End of Life Care. These successes are truly spectacular in an industry where many other
care homes fall short of the mark.
My husband has been in Bradwell Court Care home for nearly two years now, and I am impressed daily by the care an attention he has received during that time, by the most wonderful staff. He is always clean and tidy, and states that he is very happy there. He comments daily on how good the food is, and he has recently been moved to a lovely sunny room on the ground floor, so that the staff can keep a closer eye on him as he is becomes more frail and they can reach him more quickly should the need arise. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and they always have his safety and well-being at the forefront of their minds. I don't hesitate to recommend them.

We were naturally anxious and apprehensive about moving mum into care. Barony Lodge couldn't have been kinder, more supportive or more helpful. They listened and understood our concerns then bent over backwards to make mum feel comfortable and at ease. The staff are beyond amazing, They're cheerful,
helpful, kind and caring, literally nothing is too much trouble, The food is excellent, the menu varied but if there's nothing on the menu you like they will find you something else. Barony Lodge is spotlessly clean, like a 5 star hotel. We didn't think mum would settle and had contingency plans in place but she is very happy. There are many and varied activities if residents want to join in but equally they are encouraged to choose and be independent. I can't recommend Barony Lodge highly enough.

My mother has been resident here for over four years. Throughout that time she has received exemplary care from all who work at Barony Lodge. The staff treat her with gentleness, respect and kindness. We could not have wished for a better experience. Although bed bound now, she still enjoys her one-to-one
