Overall Experience
Val has settled into her new home nicely. At first she was upset and wanted to go back to her home but with the support of the staff she has settled and most importantly is safe now.
She is well cared for and looks that way. She is dressed nicely I'd say 96 times out of 100 there were a few occasions where she had the same old cardy and t shirt on. But that is a rare occurrence.

The staff now her well and she responds fondly to them. They also welcome us as visitors and make us feel at home. We've had afternoon teas so Val doesn't miss out on Birthdays and there is always plenty of activities and events to look forward to.

I was extremely hesitant when my mother had to move to a nursing home after 7 years at a local residential home; however, I did not need to worry. The staff are so attentive and genuinely care about each and every resident, treating them as individuals, with kindness and respect. Mum is always clean and well presented. She has put on weight since arriving a month ago. They took fantastic care of my mum's complex needs whilst I was poorly over Christmas. She has never looked so well and content.

Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt review. We understand how difficult it can feel when a loved one moves into nursing care, so it is wonderful to hear how well your mum has settled.

Overall, very happy for my husband being in your care.
I think sometimes understanding can cause issues, not just for the resident but the staff too.

Ongoing niggle is the car parking. Just a simple remedy of some white lines would improve this. One area needs careful thought on the while lines to give maximum parking.

I have selected good for all questions except activities, where I have placed it as satisfactory. This in no way reflects on the activities coordinator, who is very good. My relative would like to see more external activities, eg visits out, which may be cost prohibited.

I am very happy overall with the experience of High Peak, as is my relative who has dementia; however, I have no experience of other care homes, but feel confident she is in a good home overall.

So my grandma has been a resident of High Peak since October last year, she is so well looked after we can't fault them. She is 102 in a couple of weeks and wow they are pulling the stops to make sure it is special for her. The lady who looks after the social side of stuff is just amazing and has gone above and beyond to ensure this happens. The staff take an active interest in my grandma which is so lovely to see and although she doesn't know why she's there (still independent and thinks she's lazy) it is heartwarming for us as her family.

A very friendly atmosphere. Staff who obviously enjoy working there and are willing to answer any queries. My husband is very deaf and this does create communication problems at times but these can be overcome with patience. I think everyone is looked after very well and it is a joy to visit.

I cannot recommend this nursing home highly enough. For the 3.5 years that my mum was a resident. The love, care and kindness shown to her were exceptional. She was always treated as part of the family because that is what High Peak is, just looking at the length of service of the staff where 10 years is a 'newcomer' is such a good indication of the home and its ethos. Definitely 10/10 all around.

Mum has recently been discharged from hospital, but still has complex care needs. The staff manage her needs very well whilst also being super kind, friendly, and caring. There's a really nice atmosphere and they provide a wide range of activities, there's a lot of laughter here.

I am a resident and will say the nursing staff are excellent.

Regarding food, some meals leave a lot to be desired and made always hot. I know some people may have to be careful if it is hot, can hurt you, can always leave it cood till you can eat it.

All thre staff are very professional and caring to Mum and to us. Nothing is too much trouble. The care manager was amazing in getting Mum admitted into High Peak Residential & Nursing Home from hospital. The chefs reform Mum's food to represent "real" food as Mum has difficulty in swallowing. during our last care meeting some of the questions related to when Mum passes away ie. what did we want her to wear to be buried and what readings at her funeral. We were unprepared for this and was very distressing. This should be done by the undertakers at the appropriate time. This is our only criticism.

My mum had a fall at home and broke her arm which meant she needed a safe place to recover and regain her confidence. It's now three weeks later and Mum doesn't want to go home at the moment which speaks volumes for the staff at High Peak Nursing Home. I visit everyday and am made to feel welcome and Mum's enjoying the food, especially the homemade soup. I feel lucky to have High Peak near to where we live.

My Mum went into High Peak towards the end of the Covid epidemic. It was a difficult time for everyone yet the staff were accommodating and compassionate throughout her stay. All the staff were wonderful from the manager and administrator through to the nurses, care workers, chefs and room support. Whenever I thought there was something I should mention, I would ring and find out it had already been noted and anyone who needed to know was already aware. She was very well looked after and cared for.
