These are ideal for family carers who would like to take a short break themselves, with the peace of mind of knowing their loved one is in safe hands.
The home features a fully enclosed, internal garden, which is a wonderful space to enjoy summer garden parties and relax with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. Many of the residents also enjoy gardening activities, growing their own flowers and produce as they would have done before moving into the care home, giving them a sense of continuity and purpose. With wheelchair friendly pathways and plenty of seating areas, the garden is a hub of activity.
Inside the home there has been an extensive refurbishment by not-for-profit leading care provider Sanctuary Care, including spacious, welcoming lounges to enjoy activities.
Life is always busy at Trevarna, from animal therapy sessions to live entertainment, with everything from singers to magicians. And a mobile hairdresser also visits for appointments with the residents in the home’s salon.
Situated in the heart of St Austell, the team is passionate about keeping those community links alive with trips out and about. From the neighbouring library and Poltair Park, to the beach and Charlestown Harbour.
In the dining rooms, delicious, home-cooked meals are prepared by the home’s chef. From roast dinners with all the trimmings to fish and chip Fridays, and freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea.
Situated in the town centre, within walking distance of the train station, the home has excellent transport links and plenty of parking for visitors.
Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2025 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1604 and for nursing care £1995, but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.
*If you require more specialist care such as 1-2-1 support, your weekly fee could be higher.

When we were shown round it looked really good and we felt Mum's needs would be catered for: there were daily activities and a lovely dining room. We were told Mum could call for assistance at any time, and regular comfort checks would be made. Unfortunately, due to a shortage of staff, this wasn't the case - Mum often waited a long time for her bell to be answered - then staff were rushing. The 'activities' were mainly television, or something different from the hydration trolley. Few residents had capacity, so Mum stopped going to the dining room. After almost choking, we were assured Mum would have soft food, and someone with her at mealtimes - but that didn't happen. Residents wandered in to Mum's room. Laundry was hit and miss, so we took it home. The staff were polite and kind, but were under pressure and didn't have time to spend helping Mum: at least one went off with stress. Fortunately Mum had visitors daily. Staff did their best, but I feel it needs to improve.

I visited Trevarna St Austell with a friend whose wife is a resident. It is the second time I have been there and my first impression was good. I mentioned to the staff how nice it was there. I have worked in nursing homes and have witnessed how bad things can be. Trevarna is clean, bright and airy and although I know how hard it is to keep homes smelling fresh, it is not always possible to be perfect, but Trevarna ticks all the boxes for 'good'. My close friend arrived at Trevarna in early January 2024, having spent a month in hospital. I live in France and was keen to make sure he had settled in well on arrival. The receptionist could not have been more helpful, informative or friendly over the phone and she became the constant point of contact for me pretty much every day until my friend passed away. I spent 10 days in Cornwall, organising proceedings for my friend, and became well acquainted with just some of the staff, nurses and carers there. I cannot praise them enough for their foresight, kindness, empathy and sense of humour. The care was second to none.
