Located in a beautiful rural setting, with views over Westhill, Pitcairn Lodge is a home which is truly part of the local community. The team, many of whom have been with the home for over 10 years, are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents with activities and experiences which bring them joy.

Providing residential, dementia, nursing and palliative care, they also provide respite care breaks. These are ideal for family carers looking after loved ones at home, who would like to plan a short break themselves.

The community are embraced into life in the home, keeping those special connections alive. The team take the residents to churches they have gone to all their lives, as well as welcoming church groups into the home.

Local school and nursery children are regular visitors, joining in with activities and performing for the residents. There is a regular musical memories exercise group, a touring puppet theatre and therapy dogs. And the residents enjoy regular shopping trips, pub lunches and visits to community cafés.

The home has a large garden. This summer the residents have enjoyed growing their own produce in the raised beds, harvesting it for the chef to use in the kitchen.

Mealtimes are a real highlight of the day, with the home’s chef crowned winner of the regional Best Performing Chef award at Sanctuary Care’s MasterChef Conference. From delicious roast dinners with all the trimmings, to freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea.

There are welcoming lounges to enjoy activities and spend time with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. And there’s a private family and friends Facebook group, where families can see what their loved ones have been enjoying doing, even if they can’t be there in person.

A hairdresser visits twice a week for appointments with the residents in the home’s salon. And there are regular pamper sessions, with manicures and hand massages.

Mum has been so well looked after by all the staff since her arrival in January 2025. She has a different interaction with each staff member which is so nice to see. She won't let them walk by without a wave or a hug. ALL the staff have endless patience on the more challenging days and I'm so appreciative
of them all.

Mum had been resident in Pitcairn for just over a year. The staff took the time to get to know her and help her settle in well. They also made sure Dad was looked after on his daily visits. They both enjoyed the activities arranged in the home and a couple of trips out.
As a Family we were kept informed
about Mums care and were involved in all decisions made. On the occasions a GP visit was required this was done promptly and we were kept fully informed.
Weekly emails on activities and events was appreciated and meant we could join Mum for some of them.
Pitcairn has bright sunny rooms and Lounges, is well maintained and clean with a lovely secure outdoor space which the resident's and Families can enjoy.

Sister in law very well looked after. The home is really nice and carers are so good to the residents they interact with them really well. There is plenty going on for them to keep alert. The manager is very good at her job and very welcoming

My mum moved in to Pitcairn Lodge at the beginning of May. She was given a very warm welcome by all the staff and is settling in well. She has very much enjoyed getting involved in activities and has been out in the minibus for trips to a local nursery and to a concert. Nothing is ever too much bother
for the staff who have been great in their interactions with her. Management and Admin have also been very helpful in getting my mum settled in.

My Dad is a recent resident and from the start he has been made welcome and has been well cared for by the staff. He hasn't been the easiest to look after, especially at night but all efforts have been made to ensure his comfort and safety. I very much appreciated a phone call from one of the night
nurses to discuss Dad's usual routine, likes, dislikes etc to try to help him settle as she had not been able to see me in person.
Communication has been good with nursing staff phoning in a timely manner with updates on GP visits etc, chatting about how Dad is on every visit and regular emails keeping me up to date with events and activities coming up.
There were some difficulties in communication with Head Office initially with regards to finance, necessitating several phone calls, but this has been resolved.

Mum was very reluctant to move to a care home but she has really settled into Pitcairn Lodge. The staff have been very supportive and she loves her bright, sunny room. The food is excellent and just to her taste ie. not spicy and how she remembers food from her younger years.
There are lots of activities
on offer which the residents can do as much or as little as they choose.
The building is very clean, modern and all on one level so that has given Mum confidence in moving around.
She is looking forward to spending more time in the lovely gardens when the weather gets warmer.

The staff at Pitcairn Lodge Nursing Home are very friendly and welcoming. They are very good with the residents and I have no instances where this wouldn't be the case.
The facility is well kept and there is always fun activities and events for the residents.

My mum wasn't able to to come to my house for Christmas Day celebrations but Pitcairn Lodge Nursing Home did an excellent job of making sure my mum had a lovely day with all the other residents. This gave me peace of mind and eased my guilt immensely.

My dad has been a resident at Pitcairn Lodge Nursing Home for over two years. During this time all his needs have been met with care and attention. Nothing is too much trouble, especially as my dad has a severe food allergy and the kitchen staff go out of their way to prepare food he can enjoy. Laundry
is turned around very quickly, I have never had to go looking for any items of clothing . There are always activities residents can participate in if they wish and seeing photos of them on Facebook enjoying themselves is reassuring. Staff and management are always available for a chat.

The staff are always so friendly and helpful. They make the visiting experience as normal as possible for me and my family. My grandma is a part of the dementia unit and they do their very best to include her in activities and days out which we are very thankful for. The team works extremely hard to

Pitcairn looks great since it's refurbished, very light and airy and the addition of the family room is lovely. My mum has been at Pitcairn for a few years now and has always been well cared for and the staff are always very friendly and helpful. The varied activities offered at Pitcairn keep Mum entertained.

I find all the staff in Larch caring and attentive in their duties. The lines of communication are always open and they keep you well informed.
Very impressed with the new management, who I believe will bring the home to a higher level.

Always a good atmosphere with plenty of staff looking after the needs of the residents. Residents always appear to have a good relationship with carers and also appear to be well-known and on first name terms.

Staff are available to talk if necessary at all times. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Good communication from staff regarding any changes to meds etc. They adapt quickly to Mum's needs. Regular emails from home regarding activities etc

My wife, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, has been a resident of Pitcairn for nearly 8 years now and I simply cannot fault the service that she has received throughout this period.
Every aspect of the Home from location, staffing, service provision and facilities, etc is top-notch.
I simply cannot
imagine anywhere else that would be better for her.
My thanks, appreciation and admiration go to all the staff and home management team.

It's now coming up to the Christmas period and from the photos on social media (that are posted very regularly), they show how happy my mum is attending all the events (when she lived at home she never wanted to go out due to anxiety/dementia). There are always events she can take part in e.g. crafting,
baking, the nursery children visiting, going to a panto and rotary Xmas dinner, and it's wonderful to see her enjoying herself. Mum is well-fed (always gets her cup of tea), clean, dressed every day, has a routine and interacts with the staff and other residents in a positive way. Also from a medical perspective, the local GP and staff keep on top of any medical conditions that may arise. I know that she is receiving excellent care. I really want to give a big thank you to the management and staff who make Pitcairn a lovely home for my mum and a welcoming environment for us to visit.
