The Park care home stands out for its dedicated team, providing residential, nursing, dementia, palliative and respite care, which can be pre-booked. The team enriches residents’ lives daily and warmly welcomes family and friends.

Operated by not-for-profit provider Sanctuary Care, the home features stunning gardens with wheelchair-friendly paths, sensory planting and a vegetable patch for those who enjoy gardening. These spaces are ideal for summer gatherings, and some ground-floor bedrooms offer direct patio access.

Mealtimes are a highlight, with a talented chef preparing delicious, nutritious dishes and home-baked treats for afternoon tea. Alternatives are always available on request.

Residents can relax in welcoming lounges, take part in activities, or visit the hair salon for regular appointments and pampering. Activities include painting, baking, gentle exercise and reading in the library.

Bedrooms are tastefully decorated, and residents are encouraged to bring personal items to create a homely space. The Park is located in a residential area close to shops and a library, with a large car park for convenient visiting.

Proud to be veteran-friendly

The Park is the first Sanctuary Care home to achieve Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) status, supporting the practical, emotional and social needs of the armed forces community living in care homes. The staff and level of care at The Park was very friendly and understanding during a difficult couple of weeks at The Park. I would like to thank everyone for their professional approach, good advice and kindness. In particular, the manager was very experienced, empathetic and knowledgeable, taking
into consideration the needs and welfare of the resident and family. A big thank you to all the staff.

After over 2 years of in and out of hospitals and nursing homes, we thought we were losing my sister. Then she came to The Park Residential and Nursing Home - Sanctuary Care, and her whole life changed. The staff there helped her eat good food, learn activities. She was treated with dignity and felt
safe again. She made friends with many residents and staff and learned to live a better life. When I called to talk to her, they would take the phone to her and hold it to her ear so we could talk. I visited the home, and everyone was courteous and friendly.

We found the home to be clean and appeared well run.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and seemed happy.
The food looked nice and drinks were offered throughout the day.
Once dad was given the all clear to walk using his Zimmer the staff encouraged him to walk to the dining room for meals.

I have found the Park staff to be very friendly and kind to my mum and to all our family when visiting. They showed us around and were very thorough and understanding of my mums needs. They have helped us and kept us informed of how my mum is settling in to her new home. They have allowed us to spend
a lot of time with her while she is transitioning into their care. The home has a good feel to it and it is clean and my mum has a lovely room with a door to the garden which is so lovely and we can make it her own.

Stepdad has only been at The Park a short time but he has been made to feel welcome. He has been well cared for and looked after. Everyone is very friendly and kind. There are lots of smaller sitting rooms that are lovely to use when the family visit. Bedrooms are comfortable and very well presented
with a warm cosy feel. One staff member in particular in admin has been great; so friendly, informative and helpful.

Having used two non-Sanctuary care homes for respite care 10-14 days prior to his admittance to The Park, I realise the three Sanctuary homes in Chaddesden are all not up to the aforesaid standard. These were the only ones offered at the time. My husband's room reminds me of a ship's cabin, nothing
like the room we were shown when we did the viewing. I appreciate my husband is doubly incontinent so most days the bed hasn't been remade as it is left to dry out. I would also comment I don't think he is encouraged to clean his teeth or put his plate with 6 teeth on it in the cleaning tabs I provided.

My brother-in-law has been in a room at The Park Nursing Home since November 2023. He has gained wirght and looks very happy. He is confined to his bed, but looks well looked after. My mum has been a resident since October 2023. The daily care staff are caring and considerate of Mum's needs. The nursing staff have taken appropriate action when required, escalating issues to the GP in a timely manner. The management and admin team have dealt with any queries or incidents with openness
and honesty, providing a speedy and satisfactory response. The overall internal condition of the building is clean and tidy. Mealtimes are at set periods which helps give mum a routine each day, as do set regular times for showering/bathing. Whilst some mindful and/or physical activities during the day may be arranged, as mum is aged 98 and has lost her sight, it is not always possible for her to engage.

Our step-mum's health declined quite rapidly during this month. Our experience at The Park during this time was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble and our step-mum's care was a priority. We, as a family, cannot speak highly enough of the staff at The Park, caring, dedicated and professional

My husband has recently been a resident of The Park Residential and Nursing Home. Unfortunately, he has since passed away.
The care he received in his final 36 hours was second to none. The carers came to see him every 30 minutes to make sure everything was OK.
From a personal experience, they looked
after myself and my family too, bringing us drinks and making sure we were eating. I myself do not wish to die at home and after seeing the care he received it would be a personal choice of mine to go to the nursing home.
There are carers that I would like to name but it's not advised, so thank you all for the loving care and attention you provided for my husband during his last hours.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.585)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.585) out of 10 for The Park Residential and Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.585 for The Park Residential and Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (181 Excellents x 5) + (70 Goods x 4) + (20 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 272 Ratings = 4.585
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Park Residential and Nursing Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
