The Park care home stands out for its dedicated team, providing residential, nursing, dementia, palliative and respite care, which can be pre-booked. The team enriches residents’ lives daily and warmly welcomes family and friends.

Operated by not-for-profit provider Sanctuary Care, the home features stunning gardens with wheelchair-friendly paths, sensory planting and a vegetable patch for those who enjoy gardening. These spaces are ideal for summer gatherings, and some ground-floor bedrooms offer direct patio access.

Mealtimes are a highlight, with a talented chef preparing delicious, nutritious dishes and home-baked treats for afternoon tea. Alternatives are always available on request.

Residents can relax in welcoming lounges, take part in activities, or visit the hair salon for regular appointments and pampering. Activities include painting, baking, gentle exercise and reading in the library.

Bedrooms are tastefully decorated, and residents are encouraged to bring personal items to create a homely space. The Park is located in a residential area close to shops and a library, with a large car park for convenient visiting.

Proud to be veteran-friendly

The Park is the first Sanctuary Care home to achieve Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) status, supporting the practical, emotional and social needs of the armed forces community living in care homes. I am always made to feel welcome by staff and management when I visit my brother. The care home looks very clean and tidy when I visit my brother is always shaved and clean. He likes all the staff and is very happy in the care home. I would like to thank everyone who works there for doing a good job.

I would like to say that my husband and I were very impressed with the care and concern for my mother.
The nursing staff were excellent.
The staff care for all residents and make visitors very welcome.
New improvements are being made in the environment around the inside and outside of the buildings.
I
feel however that more activities could be made available to residents who would like to get involved in order to stimulate their minds.
Health wise they are cared for excellently. But the mind also needs to be used.
There's a saying 'use it or lose it', that's why it is important that the mind is healthy too.

The Park is currently undergoing refurbishment which is being done without disruption to the day to day running of the home. It is clean and welcoming and has a nice homely feel to it. The management is friendly and approachable and has been incredibly supportive and understanding. The nursing team
are excellent ensuring that my relative's needs are met and adhered to. They always make a point of coming to see us when we visit. Any questions or concerns are dealt with immediately. They are very understanding and supportive. The carers have good knowledge of my relative's needs and provide excellent care. They interact well with the residents and the floor runs efficiently. Meals are good and plenty of fluids are offered.

Mum has been well looked after by all staff, not just care staff.
All staff are friendly to all residents that I have seen, and genuinely seem to care.
I find management and administration very good; welcoming, informative, humorous and professional.
Food appears to be fresh, plentiful and there
is always fruit, biscuits and drinks either available or served.

The home is going through refurbishment which will make the facilities much better when complete. The staff and care workers are of a high standard and the management very helpful, cooperative and supportive.
My only concern is the level of mental activity available, it could be that many residents
have reached a point where it is difficult to get involved but I am able to get Mum more involved with encouragement. There are charitable organisations that would help if invited to do so.

We have found management very easy to talk to and very helpful. There are some very caring staff who go the extra mile for our mother. The food is excellent and drinks are always available. The rooms are clean and tidy with fresh sheets etc every day. The nurses keep us up to date without mother's care
and will phone me if necessary. Everyone is kind and polite to us. Our mother is very comfortable and happy. The carers are lovely to her.

Since my wife moved to the park 16 months ago she has been treated with care, dignity, respect and compassion.
I visit my wife for a few hours every day and I see management, nurses, carers and domestics going about their daily tasks in a most professional way.
I would like to say on behalf of my
family and myself, thank you all.

Having worked alongside the staff in the home on several occasions - I was always made to feel part of the team within the home and was always offered additional support when needed with my client. Any concerns or issues could be raised with the management team, who listened and responded promptly,
offering solutions to enable my client's care to be maintained and enhanced.

The Park has lovely friendly staff, who are really caring and helped our family through a lot whilst our mother was in the home. Staff always made our family feel welcome, and important even though there are many other residents. We hope to attend open events soon, to see the staff and home.

Very disappointed with the lack of communication and ignorance of management. Unfortunately, you can count only on one hand the number of carers who actually care about the residents in the home. Only after a complaint and safeguarding raised was my dad starting to receive the care he should of received
from day one, this was then too late. I have also called 6 times since the passing of my dad for his missing clothes and still no phone call back.

It's a difficult thing to manage something with so many competing demands and so in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. There's always things that could be done better. I feel in all respects from the care of my mother to my access to management of the home, they do a terrific job. My mother couldn't
be in better, safer or more caring hands.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.577)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.577) out of 10 for The Park Residential and Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.577 for The Park Residential and Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (164 Excellents x 5) + (61 Goods x 4) + (20 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 246 Ratings = 4.577
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Park Residential and Nursing Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
