The Park care home stands out for its dedicated team, providing residential, nursing, dementia, palliative and respite care, which can be pre-booked. The team enriches residents’ lives daily and warmly welcomes family and friends.

Operated by not-for-profit provider Sanctuary Care, the home features stunning gardens with wheelchair-friendly paths, sensory planting and a vegetable patch for those who enjoy gardening. These spaces are ideal for summer gatherings, and some ground-floor bedrooms offer direct patio access.

Mealtimes are a highlight, with a talented chef preparing delicious, nutritious dishes and home-baked treats for afternoon tea. Alternatives are always available on request.

Residents can relax in welcoming lounges, take part in activities, or visit the hair salon for regular appointments and pampering. Activities include painting, baking, gentle exercise and reading in the library.

Bedrooms are tastefully decorated, and residents are encouraged to bring personal items to create a homely space. The Park is located in a residential area close to shops and a library, with a large car park for convenient visiting.

Proud to be veteran-friendly

The Park is the first Sanctuary Care home to achieve Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) status, supporting the practical, emotional and social needs of the armed forces community living in care homes. The VFF is a collaboration between Armed Forces charities Royal Star & Garter and Royal British Legion, and NHS Veterans’ Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA).

I visited the home before my wife went into it, it was a very pleasant experience. No nasty smells and a great atmosphere - it was like walking into a hotel. The staff are very good and friendly and have been very helpful in helping my wife settle in. She is very happy there and very settled.

Terrible standard of care of my now deceased friend and myself when visiting. Not worth the risk. Please go somewhere else! Inadequate response to my complaint which took longer than it should to respond to.

We have found the care of Mum to be very good and very helpful to us, as a family. She was only with you for a short time before she sadly passed away but received kindness and support with all she needed. Thank you.

We're so sorry to hear of the loss of your mum but are reassured to hear how pleased you are with her care and the support our team showed during such a difficult time. Best wishes, Fae.

Though Dad was only in The Park Residential and Nursing Home for a couple of weeks his care was outstanding. The staff were lovely and incredibly thoughtful, were with Dad at his end and they were a source of great comfort. A big thanks to the manager and her team.

Very comfortable with all tests and Covid rules being done here. We were made to feel very welcome on all visits. The staff were always aware of where the residents were at all times when the confused people went on walkabout. Staff patience was always evident. Nothing was ever too much trouble for
the staff/ Whether it was something for us as a family visiting or a request for Mum. They are a lovely hard working and caring team.

Mum was angry and upset when she was first at The Park. Gradually, she has opened to the love and attention of the staff. Mum was depressed and grumpy at home, and we were constantly on edge as her daughters - and not living near her. Mum is now replaced, dare I say, happy, and is physically and mentally
so much stronger. Thank you to all those skilled and loving carers and all staff.

I visited The Park Residential and Nursing Home on the 30th of April 2021. The purpose of my visit was to see my brother, who I have not seen for over six months. The staff at the home were very efficient and welcoming, testing me for Covid-19 before I was allowed to see my brother. I was very happy
with the conditions in the home and in the room in which I met my brother. The appointment time adhered to, and I was able to see my brother for one hour.

Although we were reluctant to put mother in a nursing home, she really needed full-time care, which we could not provide. My father-in-law spent 6-years in the same nursing home, so we knew the quality of care provided.
I always find the staff very kind and respectful to both myself and my mother.
They ring us if they need to, always answer any questions we may have. Of course, things are very difficult at the moment, but hopefully, as things improve, visiting will also improve so my mother can see all her relatives instead of just me.
Overall, we are extremely happy with the care provided to my mother.

From my first meeting with a member of your staff, I knew that my dad was in safe hands! Everyone I came into contact with was pleasant, accommodating and seemed happy in their work. My dad was nearing the end of life, and I believe his stay was made as comfortable as possible. Thank you for everything
you did to make it possible for me and my family to visit him in these difficult times.

Welcoming, friendly. Excellently managed with a committed and motivated team. Very accommodating of individual requirements and needs as well as those of relatives. Nice gardens, food looks good! Suspect staffing levels, especially at night, make for hard work, but never the less, have found The Park
to be extremely good and would recommend.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.577)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.577) out of 10 for The Park Residential and Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.577 for The Park Residential and Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (164 Excellents x 5) + (61 Goods x 4) + (20 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 246 Ratings = 4.577
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Park Residential and Nursing Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
