The team at The Beeches, many of whom have been with the home for years, are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents and empowering them to have an active role to play in how their home is run.

Providing residential, dementia and respite care, the team are proud to involve the residents and their loved ones in every aspect of life at the home. There are resident and family ambassadors, who get involved in everything from taking part in staff interviews to providing feedback on everything from the menus to the activities.

Food is a highlight of the day for many residents – and the chef is an award-winning baker with a passion for cakes! The food is very much shaped by the residents and there is a mixture of traditional dishes, like roasts with all the trimmings, to flavours from around the world if the residents would like to try them – including Caribbean, Greek and Indian.

There are so many activities to enjoy, from pampering in the salon, cheese and wine evenings and live entertainment, to gentle exercise and gardening in the home’s vegetable patch.

The team embrace the community into the home, with visiting students and community volunteers.

The Beeches also has a namaste room, a cinema room and a café, where residents can relax with friends and family, who are welcome at any time, over tea and homemade cake.

The home also has a Magic Table, an amazing piece of technology designed for people living with dementia, where residents can play interactive light games together.

The gardens are a beautiful spot to relax in, with raised planters and wheelchair friendly pathways. Some of the bedrooms, which are all ensuite, have patio access to the gardens.

My Mother has Dementia and has been a resident of the Beeches since 2019. Her Dementia and her mobility have both deteriorated greatly in that time requiring a change in her care needs. The staff have met this challenge and are always lovely to Mum, they have become like family to her. I know that
when she was in hospital last year she became quite withdrawn and seemed really pleased to back at the Beeches.
Until a few months ago there was a lot of musical entertainment, dancing and exercises for the residents and although Mum cannot take part I think she enjoyed watching the other residents enjoying themselves. It would be good if these activities could be restored.
I would like to thank the staff for all they do for Mum, it is very much appreciated.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the team. Nothing is to much trouble and is a really fun place to be where residents feel they have another family. My Mum has been here over 2 years now and was the hardest decision the family had to make, through the help and support of this home
made everything so so much easier and mum soon settled in. Keep doing what your doing thank you xxxxx
5 star all the way

My great grandmother had been a resident at the care home for a couple of years, up until her sad death on 20th October.
Nan had dementia and sadly declined quite rapidly. The staff at the Beeches have always been incredible. They became like family to us and treated our wonderful Nan Win with such
care and compassion. They kept us updated on every aspect of Nan's care.
They were particularly wonderful during Nan's last couple of days. My Nan and Mum stayed overnight on one of the days just before Nan's passing and they could not have done enough. They made sure my Mom and Nan had food, drinks and a comfortable place to rest. They provided so much reassurance and support to us during the most difficult days. They are angels on earth and deserve all of the love and respect and thanks in the world. We simply don't have enough words to express our gratitude. Nan didn't recognise us at the end but she sure knew who her friends (the staff) were at the home and we cannot thank you enough.
Reply from Jacob Hardie, Design and Marketing Assistant at The Beeches Residential Care HomeThank you so much for your heartfelt words. It means the world to know that our team could offer comfort and support during such a difficult time. We're truly honoured to have cared for your Nan and to have been part of her journey. Your kind words will be deeply appreciated by everyone at The Beeches.

We looked at a fair few homes in roughly a 5 mile radius whilst looking for dad. The Beeches was the last one we viewed after not being too impressed with the previous ones.
It was an instant winner with both Frankie and Conner making us feel that this was the place for dad.
As soon as we walked
in you could feel that this was a place where people genuinely cared.
Dad always says that everyone is lovely and that he feels safe there. He really enjoys the food and takes part in the activities. 10/10.
Reply from Jacob Hardie, Design and Marketing Assistant at The Beeches Residential Care HomeThank you so much for your kind words. We had both my mum and dad at the beeches - mum for dementia care and dad in residential. Unfortunately my dad passed in January leaving mum there. As much as we know mum is safe, warm and well fed at the beeches, we feel that there are not enough activities for the dementia patients to keep them occupied
- more so for those with not severe dementia. We hoped there would be a little more on offer in way of distraction for her. I have mentioned this and been assured this will happen. My aunt stayed there fir a month as a resident whilst mum was getting over dad passing, and she also mentioned that there wasn't a lot of activities going go on for the dementia patients. Just hoping this resolves as the staff in the home are all so lovely and we are all made to feel welcome visiting g there. One BIG disappointment is the WiFi. Mum isn't able to FaceTime her family from her room due to the WiFi cutting her off. Again, we have spoken to the staff and hope this can be resolved soon!!

I flew out from USA to be with my mom and my family after my father passed. I spent a lot of time with mom in the home and I must say that I really missed it when I left to go back home. The care staff were wonderful, the manager is very responsive when addressed and the place itself is lovely and
homey. The only complaint I may have is the food, it wasn't very appetizing and my mom often will complain. I realize in an institution like the beeches that they have to please many people and not all will like the food, but it could be improved upon. Other than that and the terrible WiFi connectivity which severely restricts my ability to communicate with my mom, I have only good things left to say.
Reply from Jacob Hardie, Design and Marketing Assistant at The Beeches Residential Care HomeThank you for sharing your experience. We're so glad to hear that the team and the home made a positive impact during your visit. Your feedback on the food and WiFi has been noted and will be passed on to the team. Wishing you and your family all the best.

The home is amazing. Spotlessly clean. Great food. The carers are some of the best people I have ever met. Kind, considerate and loving towards my mother. Myself and my family are welcomed into the home as family members. I don't know how to thank them for the care and love they give to my mother.

For over two years, this was dad's "home" for dementia care-unfortunately, not a good experience. On arrival, no one greeted us or handled discharge papers. After 90 minutes, we went to his room ourselves. It was filthy, with an unmade bed and belongings from the previous resident. No apologies, no
management, and we had to clean and settle him ourselves. This lack of care continued. After a fall, dad was hospitalized for over 3 weeks. We gave notice, yet the home never checked in-not even a well-wish. The only prompt response was the final bill. With Sanctuary Care, you're just a transaction. Staff showed minimal interest in residents; dad had 4 regular visitors-many residents had none. The new manager is trying hard, but it's unclear if she's supported. If we had POA earlier, we'd have moved him long ago. Thankfully, dad's now in a far better facility where he's truly cared for. We do not recommend The Beeches for dementia care.
Reply from Jacob Hardie, Design and Marketing Assistant at The Beeches Residential Care HomeWe are truly sorry to hear that you feel your father's time with us did not meet the usual standards of care and compassion that we are so proud to provide. Your feedback is invaluable to us and we understand how important it is for families to feel confident and reassured in the care their loved ones receive. Again, are so sorry that we fell short. We appreciate your recognition of our manager's efforts and we are committed to supporting the wider team in making meaningful improvements. We're glad to hear your father is now well settled in another home and if you do have any further feedback for us, our team would really like to hear from you.

In February 2024, our mom moved into the Beeches Care Home. Mom was very anxious, disoriented upon moving in, but the care, compassion and patience shown to her was overwhelmingly supportive, to both Mom and family. Mom is very happy now. More recently, Mom broke her hip, which meant it looked like
she couldn't return. However, after numerous phone calls, with very supportive new manager and Deputy Manager, they pulled up all resources, Mom returned and Mom has come on leaps and bounds. Excellent care team. Thank you.

Both my parents moved to The Beeches in February of this year after living in the same house for over 60 years. Due to Dads dementia and Moms disability they were not safe at home. The staff and management helped in more ways than one , not only with the emotional and physical transition for them moving
in but also the emotional support for both my sister and i , as we were wracked with guilt at having to make this decision. I can not praise the staff enough from cooks , cleaners , maintenance , office staff , carer's and managers. My Mom and Dad are now safe , very well fed ( food delicious ), cared for and more importantly are made to feel part of an extended family where they are valued and loved .

I don't feel having dogs in the home is acceptable off leads. Having a phobia of dogs myself I feel it unnerving. The food is awful, too much fried food and not enough fresh veg. Lack of fresh fruit offered. The cornbeef hash that was served was far too salty and was too hot to eat. Also why is my mom
being woke up at 6:00 am to be given medication? The medication only needs to be given 1 hour before breakfast.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.637)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.637) out of 10 for The Beeches Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 33 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.637 for The Beeches Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (300 Excellents x 5) + (59 Goods x 4) + (23 Satisfactorys x 3) + (10 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 394 Ratings = 4.637
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Beeches Residential Care Home is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I began my career in care as an activities coordinator, discovering the joy of bringing happiness and purpose to residents.

Later, as a care assistant, I had the privilege of ensuring residents received tailored care informed by their unique histories and needs.

In my senior care roles, I embraced a person-centred approach, treating residents like extended family. I believe in truly knowing each individual, and helping them to live fulfilling lives.

Becoming a mother deepened my empathy for families, teaching me to address even small concerns with compassion and care. I always strive to view situations through the lens of how I would want my own loved ones treated.

Now, as Home Manager at The Beeches, I bring years of experience and a passion for creating a vibrant, welcoming environment where residents, their families, and staff feel valued and supported.

I am proud of Sanctuary Care’s ethos of enriching lives, and fostering a safe, nurturing home with engaging, personalised experiences that help every resident thrive.
