Juniper House is a beautiful modern home, which is at the heart of the local community, next door to a GP surgery.

Providing residential and dementia care, the home also provides respite care breaks, which can be pre-booked in advance.

There are regular visits from toddlers from the local nursery, who join the residents for activities. The home has strong links with the local Age UK group, and hosts community coffee mornings, inviting local people to join the residents for a catch up over coffee and cake.

The gardens are stunning and are overlooked by a beautiful garden room, where residents take part in activities, from a book club and arts and crafts, to a knitting club and music. The gardens are surrounded by wheelchair friendly pathways and are a wonderful space to relax with loved ones, who are welcome to visit at any time.

Juniper House also has a minibus, for residents to enjoy trips out into the community.

And next door is the Noble House retirement living scheme, which has a bistro, which residents are welcome to visit. The scheme also welcomes residents across for events and celebrations. It also has a hair salon, where they can enjoy regular hair appointments with a mobile hairdresser.

The residents enjoy delicious, home cooked meals in Juniper’s dining rooms, from roast dinners with all the trimmings to fish and chip Fridays. And residents are welcome to dine in the neighbouring bistro.

Their bedrooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and furnished, with walk in wet room showers. There are adjoining and larger rooms for couples.

The home is a stone’s throw from the centre of St John’s, which has shops, cafés and a library. There is also a large car park for visitors.

I was recommended the Sanctuary group by a friend, whose auntie had been residing in one for some years. I chose Juniper House being the newest built one in the Worcestershire area. The manager Jana was extremely helpful and approachable, providing a wealth of information, prior to attending our home
to assess Mum for respite. The rooms are very spacious, nicely decorated, well equipped, with en-suite wet rooms. The home benefits from being purpose built, which for my mother, who is living with Alzheimer's, is essential so as to assist her navigating around the building. All of the staff were extremely friendly and caring. And nothing was too much trouble for the maintenance guy. All of Mum's clothes were freshly laundered upon my collecting and she looked very well turned out. I have now booked in Mum for some further respite. THANK YOU to all of the team. 'Long term' financially the Sanctuary Group offers the stability, other fully privately funded care homes lack.

This is a very difficult time for families finding a suitable place of care for our loved ones
We have been pleased with the advice from the manager and staff at Juniper House.
Answering all our maybe silly questions. John has been in for nearly 3 weeks now, and he loves it; all the staff are very
kind and friendly.

My mother reached a point where she was unable to cope at home alone. So we began to search for a care home which was a daunting prospect as we had never had anything to do with care homes before. I am delighted to review and report that Juniper house has been fantastic. The staff have been very approachable
communicating and explaining everything that we need to do and the process of moving my mother into the care home was simple and stress free. My mother's experience ,although it takes time to adjust to the new surroundings, has been fantastic. The care home is very clean and all of the staff are very attentive and my mother has been extremely well looked after. I would highly recommend Juniper House as a residential care home for a relative. It is such a relief for all of our family to know that our mother is well looked after here.

I have visited my aunt at the care home since she moved there at its opening ten years ago. The combination of compassion and professional ability that the home provides has always been clearly on display. The happiness and friendliness that my aunt has experienced, and herself spoken of, is very easy
to appreciate and be thankful for. Now that my aunt withdraws into herself and faces the changes of her later days, it is a relief to know that this compassion and professional care continue. I have full trust in this from the time that my mother was in the same care home and experienced the same excellent level of care before she passed away.
Reply from Jacob Hardie, Design and Marketing Assistant at Juniper House Residential Care HomeThank you for your kind words and continued trust over the years. My father was in Juniper House for one week's respite care. From the receptionist to the senior manager(s), I cannot fault any staff members - they really did care, not only for the residents, but for relatives as well. The home itself was clean, tidy, and there was plenty of communal areas for residents.
I would not hesitate to recommend Juniper House to anyone. Thank you to all, I am sure my Dad will be back!

Very friendly atmosphere. Very clean everywhere. Carers very caring and treating residents with respect. Everyone very helpful and listen to any queries we may have. Could have more consistent activities - some days no activities, needs more stimulation. Some days a bit boring.

I am delighted that my mum is in Juniper House! The staff are always happy and cheerful, communicating with the residents with care, respect and dignity. My mum has taken some time to settle, but this time has been treated with patience and understanding. Food is plentiful and has some choice, well
prepared and served to all residents in the dining room, important to those who need some company!

From my first visit here, I have been impressed with the caring, calm and friendly atmosphere. This first impression has continued through the week while my husband has been here for respite care. All the staff have been so patient with him and so reassuring to me whenever I have called. I know he would
rather be at home with me at his 'beck and call', but I really, really have needed this break. To know that he is in such good hands has enabled me to relax and catch up on sleep and my own life. It is a lovely place.

My mother was fortunate to reside in Juniper House for past 8 years, until she passed at the end of April. The home is friendly, well led and safe. Mum was always very happy and all her needs were met. I was always informed of any changes in mums health. Any issues that I raised were addressed quickly
and efficiently. Care staff work very hard, they are patient and always have the residents best interest at heart. I spent two weeks with mum as the end approached, I have nothing but admiration for the staff, they work so hard, in an often challenging environment, they always had a smile and their patience is commendable. Well done Juniper! and thank you.

Mom has been a resident at Juniper House for 8 1/2 years. Unfortunately she has an accident in January and had a stay in hospital which was unsettling and at times traumatic for her. I have only the highest praise for the manager and staff are juniper as she has excelled since returning to the home

After careful consideration and looking at various options, We chose Juniper House and it has been the best decision we could have made. The premises
is lovely and modern and very clean, The staff are very professional but at the same time very friendly and helpful. Mum is very safe and well looked after and we have no concerns whatsoever.

What a wonderful place! I was the sole carer for my mum before she came to live at Juniper house. I didn't think anyone would care for her like I did. Well how wrong was I!
Mum was welcomed into her new home with upmost respect and affection by all the staff (and I mean all!) and that continues today.
Mum was allowed to bring her armchair, photos and china figurines which has helped her to settle in.
The Lounge and Dining room is a very social space where mum and her friends (yes mum now has friends!) have their breakfast, dinner and tea, the carers wait on them hand and foot and nothing is too much trouble. The food is delicious too!
Mum loves going out in the minibus and taking part in some of the activities. She's played bingo, done some Zumba, played skittles and taken part in a quiz.
She didn't do anything before she came here, and now her life has been enriched! It's changed her life for the better and mine too. Thank you so much to the manager and your team!

The residents likes and dislikes are catered for. I always see staff around when I leave and arrive. I am welcomed and it is very rare that I am not offered a drink and even rarer that I am not greeted, even if the staff are extra busy. I have been around when something needs to be done and have noted
that residents are patiently informed and the message has been repeated in a kindly/appropriate manner, with time and care taken for the resident to think and reply. Signage and instructions are clear. Additionally, staff are around and happy to help and/or explain when needed. Temporary decorations are regularly refreshed/changed for other pertinent/seasonal ones and cleanliness/repair/decor is kept well and attention paid where needed. This makes visiting as easy as possible even on a difficult day. Many thanks to all involved.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.820)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.820) out of 10 for Juniper House Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.820 for Juniper House Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (302 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 361 Ratings = 4.82
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Juniper House Residential Care Home is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have been working in health and social care since 2005. My passion has always been to provide the best possible care and service for my residents, with a focus on person-centred approaches as well as effective communication with my teams. My goal is for everyone to be happy living and working in a nice, friendly, welcoming environment which they are proud to call home, where all visitors and the local community are part of the residents’ daily lives.

Encouraging my team's and colleagues’ continuous personal development boosts their confidence and competence and enables them to enrich lives with the quality of their care.
