Nunthorpe Oaks is a beautiful home which has recently undergone a stunning refurbishment. With a warm family feel the moment you walk through the door, it feels like home from home.

Providing residential care, the team also offers respite care breaks, which are ideal for carers looking after loved ones, who would like to plan a short break themselves.   

There are spacious lounges and a garden room, as well as a new bistro-style café area. And there’s a hair salon and nail bar, for regular appointments with the mobile hairdresser, plus pampering sessions with facials, manicures and hand massages.

The gardens are beautiful and are the perfect spot to relax with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. Nunthorpe Oaks also has a private family and friends Facebook group, where families can see what their loved ones have been enjoying doing, even if they can’t be there in person.

The residents enjoy so many activities, with music from local choirs and musical entertainers to karaoke. The home even has its own choir. There are regular gentle exercise sessions, crafts, knit and knatter, baking and cocktail evenings, as well as trips to local parks, shopping and garden centres and coffee shops.

In the dining rooms, the residents enjoy delicious home-cooked meals prepared by the chef, who was proud to be crowned Best Performing Chef for the entire region at Sanctuary Care’s annual Chefs’ Conference (2023). From roast dinners with all the trimmings, to fish and chip Fridays and lighter bites like home-made soups. And there is home-baking every day for afternoon tea, with the chef’s cheese scones and cakes always going down a treat.

The local community are embraced into life at Nunthorpe Oaks, with regular church services and hymns in the home to visits from local school children.

Our mother was in Nunthorpe Oaks for 12 nights respite. Although she wanted to go home and said so many times we were very happy with her care. The staff are all wonderful and we the relatives treated kindly. Its a very nice care home and we wouldn't hesitate if she felt it necessary to live there permanently.

I found all the staff at Nunthorpe Oaks outstanding. They showed Dad kindness and gave him super care. They ensured he was always safe.
The bistro set up was lovely, the food excellent and the staff there very friendly.
The entertainment team worked tirelessly to include Dad and encourage him to
mix.
All Dad's needs were met including making his room as homely as possible so thank you to house keeping and maintenance.

I can only say the experience is 2nd to none ie helpful, informative & caring. One member of staff is an asset here & has helped me tremendously with my stay here. He is so helpful & no job is too small for peoples comfort & well being. I'm enjoying the new summer menu but the previous offerings were

I would definitely recommend Nunthorpe Oaks to anyone requiring respite or long term care. My mother has settled in well and I am happy knowing she is safe, well fed and entertained daily. It gives me peace of mind, not having to worry about medication. The staff are excellent and provide a good family
atmosphere whilst still maintaining a professional and personal touch. Her recent birthday was celebrated with excellent entertainment followed by afternoon tea for all the residents.

It would be wrong of me to report that everything is fine with the home at this time. I have had a number of issues recently regarding my mother's care, however, my concerns where addressed immediately by the management and staff to a satisfactory solution.
The home at this time is quite busy and
I feel that this may be affecting the current performance over my previous years reviews. That said, I have to thank all staff for their daily efforts in careing for my mother. Keep up the good work Nunthorpe.

Excellent staff who really looked after all the residents, I have only ever seen care and compassion from them all. Mum loves them all. I am updated whenever I come in. The food is lovely, the laundry, cleaners and all other staff are great.
I have and will recommend this home to anyone looking for

I visit my mum 2-3 times weekly and there is always a welcoming atmosphere. There are regular / daily activities that are optional but encouraged and these allow for sociability amongst residents. The communal lounges are pleasant, the garden room in particular is lovely with a nice view of the garden.
My mum has developed in confidence and generally when I visit she is getting involved/ observing the various activities which is a reflection of the positivity the staff have. The home is modern and clean and has excellent food and laundry services.

My mother is extremely well cared for by the wonderful staff who are always so helpful, kind and obliging. The food is of the best quality and good variety. Hygiene is very good and there are weekly visits from a hairdresser and monthly from a chiropodist. The staff work very hard to provide a variety
of activities for the residents.

The staff are always very helpful, friendly and always smiling. The home is always clean and has a lot of activities going on every day. The food always looks delicious and always have a tea trolley coming around. I have been visiting for over six months and would recommend Nunthorpe Oaks to anyone

The care given to my dad is exceptional. The staff are all so good and patient with him. The food is very good and well-balanced. He is very settled here and it makes such a difference to know he is somewhere lovely and taken care of and safe. Would highly recommend.

This home is outstanding in so many ways. The care my brother is receiving is second to none. I have never seen my brother so happy. The residents are all happy. During December staff made lots of effort to provide a good atmosphere for all residents which Mum really enjoyed. Mum had a fall in late December and the staff went above and beyond to help her and stay with her until help arrived. I always find the staff helpful and friendly and willing to talk to
me and answer any questions. Well done to everyone.
