Nunthorpe Oaks is a beautiful home which has recently undergone a stunning refurbishment. With a warm family feel the moment you walk through the door, it feels like home from home.

Providing residential care, the team also offers respite care breaks, which are ideal for carers looking after loved ones, who would like to plan a short break themselves.   

There are spacious lounges and a garden room, as well as a new bistro-style café area. And there’s a hair salon and nail bar, for regular appointments with the mobile hairdresser, plus pampering sessions with facials, manicures and hand massages.

The gardens are beautiful and are the perfect spot to relax with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. Nunthorpe Oaks also has a private family and friends Facebook group, where families can see what their loved ones have been enjoying doing, even if they can’t be there in person.

The residents enjoy so many activities, with music from local choirs and musical entertainers to karaoke. The home even has its own choir. There are regular gentle exercise sessions, crafts, knit and knatter, baking and cocktail evenings, as well as trips to local parks, shopping and garden centres and coffee shops.

In the dining rooms, the residents enjoy delicious home-cooked meals prepared by the chef, who was proud to be crowned Best Performing Chef for the entire region at Sanctuary Care’s annual Chefs’ Conference (2023). From roast dinners with all the trimmings, to fish and chip Fridays and lighter bites like home-made soups. And there is home-baking every day for afternoon tea, with the chef’s cheese scones and cakes always going down a treat.

The local community are embraced into life at Nunthorpe Oaks, with regular church services and hymns in the home to visits from local school children.

Mum took a while to settle into Nunthorpe Oaks but the staff took time to get her needs and personality. She gets the best of care and is really happy to participate in events. The new manager is a great improvement and now that renovations are complete, the home looks lovely. The food is excellent
too. The care staff are doing a great job in these difficult Covid times.

This is over and above a care home. The care is amazing, as are the carers. The food is excellent, and the rooms are so pretty, functional, accessible and so clean. The facilities are brilliant, with various meeting and seating areas, both quiet and buzzy, and even a bistro restaurant as well as a dining
room. What I did notice is that the encouragement to mix has meant that the home is alive and has something for everyone. I cannot praise this home for my dad enough, and both my brother and I agree we made an excellent choice. It is light, bright and happy and gives very good vibes. Their Covid precautions are excellent.

My mum came into the home at the beginning of May 2021. We have found most things have been good. A few issues with the booking in system for visits but overall we are very pleased. I do think we could be advised on a regular basis how our loved ones are doing, especially when my Mum arrived, there
seemed to be no one to speak to, I had to look for the manager in the end. The Covid testing lad tended to be the only one who knew how she was doing. He wasn't a carer but tried his best to fill me in.

The staff are friendly, but the restrictions on home visits isn't great. Two visits a week is heart breaking. During a difficult time in February Nunthorpe Oaks Residential Care Home were fantastic. It's difficult to comment as we have only just been allowed inside the home. The pod took too long to
be sorted.

Mum has recently become a permanent resident of Nunthorpe Oaks having previously had several respite visits. She was always made very welcome, and the staff remembered her each time. Respite care was always readily available for us.
Now, as a permanent resident, the feeling is just the same. All the
staff are very caring and aware of the individual needs of their residents. If there are any problems or small issues, the staff are very approachable and take the time to listen, discuss and take appropriate action. I know they hold regular meetings to discuss the resident's needs and any problems that might have occurred.
Now that care home visits are allowed, the staff have made us very aware of what is required, and I have had no problems in booking a slot to visit um. The visits take place in a nice setting and are all done safely with Covid testing and the wearing of appropriate clothing.
I feel secure in the knowledge that Mum is being really cared for in these strange times.

Excellent home for respite care, and the only home in the area you can pre-book with certainty.
Mum is always made very welcome; she knows most of the staff there now. She enjoys using the garden and gets involved in the activities.
She also appreciates the fact that she is allowed to go to the shops
occasionally under supervision.

We don't live in the area and can't visit as often as we'd like, so it is even more important to us to know Gramps is getting the best possible care. With Nunthorpe Oaks, we have that confidence. The staff couldn't be kinder, nothing is too much trouble, the atmosphere is friendly and fun with care

On the whole, this residence is satisfactory and I personally feel that Mam is in a safe and secure environment, where she can be looked after without the worries of the family.
My mother feels at home and is well cared for. She feels that the meals are good and varied though can be repetitious on
a weekly basis. She says that at times she feels alone and that there is not the daily interaction and varied entertainment that was promised some twelve months ago when she became a resident. The recent pandemic has accentuated this, however, I appreciate why the isolation had to happen and hopefully, now we can move on, indeed I believe that she is now being allowed out of her room on a more regular basis as things get back to normal.
You may note that I have scored the home poor in the rooms area. When Mam became a resident last July, we were promised that the home was being prepared for total re-decoration... virus aside... this has yet to happen.
On the whole my thanks to all.

My neighbour since March became a resident. Although the home has had to cope with this pandemic they have kept me up to date with what's happening with her and kept her safe. It has been hard for me to expand on this due to the pandemic and been unable to make regular visits.

Our residents at Nunthorpe Oaks come first. I love interacting with them and supporting them to feel happy and fulfilled. We have so many lovely activities going on to enrich their lives. I am deeply passionate about involving the local community in life in the home, keeping those community connections alive for our residents to enjoy.
