I am writing this review having just returned from visiting my mother in Nunthorpe Oaks, where a great time was had by all residents, staff and visitors. A 'dress as the decade you were born in' day had been arranged, complete with a singer and people in fancy dress. A brilliant atmosphere was created. For anyone who finds the idea of care homes 'depressing', you really need to visit. The staff here don't just care for the residents, they care about them. A team of activity organisers ensure that residents are engaged at a level they can access, as well as meeting their physical needs. Brilliant!

This care home is a very great credit to its manager and all her staff. The manager and all her staff are very resident-orientated with all their thinking. It is a pleasure to go and see everyone happy, with clean rooms and excellent food. Visitors are treated like one of the Oaks family.

My mother-in-law has been a resident since May 2022 and the care she has received has been excellent from the manager to care workers and kitchen staff, they all made her feel so welcome as well as ourselves. The entertainment team are excellent and never fails to keep the residents entertained at all times. I cannot praise the team enough for all their hard work and care is definitely their number one priority. Well done to the Nunthorpe Oaks Team, you are simply the best!

In general, the home is lovely. Staff are very friendly, rooms are welcoming, food is of a very high standard and the activities team is amazing.

I do feel improvements could be made on the personal care front, e.g. nails (both hands and feet), hair (i.e. brushing and styling, especially after a shower) and generally the attention to detail over and above the basic care. Note: I understand staff can't cut toenails but keeping an eye on when they need doing is important.

Having been put in the situation of finding a home for my aunt after becoming unable to live at home and not knowing what I was looking for I came across Nunthorpe Oaks after many many hours searching reviews on many many homes. I contacted Sanctuary and they put me in touch with the deputy manager. From seeing the home on the website and speaking to the deputy manager I immediately knew this was the place for my aunt. The home, gardens, food and activities are just spot on. The care my aunt receives is unbelievable, kind, compassionate, professional and dignified in all areas. The communication from all the staff is fantastic as I haven't a clue if what I was/am doing is right. Having spent a few months in emergency care to moving in here it's like going from a 1* to a 5* hotel! My aunt's first response to her lovely room was "Oh my god is this my room, it's just beautiful (tears) and I could have a disco in the middle of it!"

I cannot say thank you enough times to everyone!

We have recommended this home to a friend whose father needs respite. We love

it. One of the best new additions to the team is a new Activities Coordinator who goes above and beyond to keep residents active and entertained, ably assisted by the other Activities Coordinator. We are looking forward to the beach day, there seems to be so much more going on. Our mum has dementia and is 90 she did the exercise class with the Activities Coordinator this week. We are so grateful.

Very pleasant and helpful staff. Good food and a nice room although the bathroom is maybe a little small in regards to people with mobility issues and staff getting in as well etc. A call button near the chair as well as on the wall may help as well. Overall though, very good.

A lot of effort was displayed by staff in ensuring my mum's transition into a care home was as easy as possible for her. It is lovely to see her developing relationships with the staff, who treat her with dignity and have good banter with her. This is a good outcome for mum and the whole family. We feel happy that she is safe, comfortable and cared for. Thank you and well done.

Dad's care has been excellent and all of the staff have been lovely and caring. Dad has flourished in the time he has been here and we haven't seen him looking so well for a long time. He is joining in lots of activities and loves the company of the other residents. All the staff are so cheerful and support my dad. We are kept connected with my dad through Skype which has given us great peace of mind.

Mum was taken in here after she had a fall and fractured her wrist and ribs on Christmas day. The staff cheered her up and the food and service to my mum was excellent. She was never alone there and even though she was diagnosed with dementia, she was and is still very bright. She has had two more falls since and once again been admitted to this home she was looking forward to seeing them all and rang me today to say don’t worry about me I'm happy here. This means the world when you know they are happy. Thanks guys, your work means the world to us.
