Dedicated to enriching the lives of their residents, they provide residential, dementia, nursing and palliative care, as well as respite care breaks. These can be booked in advance, so are ideal for family carers who would like to book a short break themselves, with the peace of mind of knowing their loved one is in safe hands and enjoying a break of their own.
Activities are a huge part of life in the home, which is often filled with music, from singers and guitarists to pipers and violinists! The lounges, which have views over the Firth, are a wonderful space to relax and enjoy activities, from gentle exercise sessions, bowling, baking and painting, to interactive games on a special giant tablet and animal visits.
With the beach a stone’s throw from the home, residents enjoy trips to the seaside, the local cathedral, shopping, coffee shops and pub lunches. The home is also opposite a community allotment and orchard, where the residents can enjoy picnics and walks in the summer.
The Meadows has a hair salon, and with a member of the team also a trained hairdresser, this room is popular for pampering.
The home’s chef prepares delicious home-cooked cuisine, from roast dinners with all the trimmings, to lighter bites and freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea.
The team is passionate about the residents and their loved ones having a very active role to play in how their home is run. There are resident ambassadors who provide feedback to the team on everything from the menu to the activities on offer and are very involved in residents’ meetings.

My aunt is now deceased but she had the best death possible at The Meadows. Staff sat with her 24 hours a day so she wouldn't die alone. I was kept informed at every step. They made sure her death was dignified and respectful, even accompanying her out to the funeral director's transport to say goodbye. Three wonderful members of staff even used their day off to come down to the funeral. I will always feel grateful to them for making the 3.5 hour journey.

My mother is a long term resident @ The Meadows following on from a stroke. The staff are excellent and thankfully the facilities are now getting the time and money spent on them. Unfortunately the bedrooms could do with more space with ensuite facilities but appreciate this is probably a longterm wish. My main concern now is the withdrawel of the home bus - my mother is wheelchair dependant but loved her trips out in the bus for some unknown reason the bus has been removed from service though a 'shared' bus has been purposed. Taking this vital asset from the home needs to be rethinked please for the sake of the residents.

We as a family are delighted by the care that our father is getting at The Meadows. The management and their supporting team are exceptional. Our father has been here since May 2024, and they have made what can be a traumatic experience for the family, as easy as can be. They have not only settled Dad in with great care and sympathy, but have been a great support to our mother and us, looking out for her, and reassuring her along the way of this difficult journey. Since their arrival, we have seen such great improvements having visited it prior to them joining, and it is truly a much-improved home and head and shoulders above the rest, and we are delighted and very grateful for the care that Dad is receiving. From experience elsewhere, there are no lingering smells, the food is good and varied, there are no alarms constantly going off, and the friendliness, warmth and flexibility from all the staff is noticeable. My Mum was offered a place at The Meadows Care Home. Initially, I was concerned about the distance from Inverness but both my and my Mum's minds were put at rest when the member of staff came to visit my Mum and I prior to going into the Care Home. The Member of Staff was lovely and very caring and understanding. We took my Mum to the Nursing home the following day and all the staff were very friendly and helpful, making my Mum, myself and my Husband feel very welcome. All the staff have been excellent since my Mum moved into the home at the beginning of May, they have all been very caring, providing a very high standard of care to my Mum and keeping me informed of any changes in my Mum. My Mum loves living at The Meadows Care Home and I am delighted with the care that she is receiving there.

I moved into The Meadows Nursing Home at Dornoch in May and I am very happy here, as the staff are very caring and they all mix with the residents it is like one big happy family and no one is left to feel alone. Today I was resident of the day which means you get pampered all day and you get to have a meal with one of the staff. This happens for every resident each month and my door number is 4 so every month on the 4th I will be resident of the day so every day is a resident's day, and no one is left out. I think that is a wonderful idea. Thanks to every member of staff for being so kind and helpful, I just love it here. Any relative or friend need not worry as everyone is taken very good care of and it is a marvellous place to live.

The Management team and all the staff are just fantastic and really can't thank them enough for everything they have done for Mum. Eilidh is the Home Manager at The Meadows, bringing 30 years of experience in health and social care. Her journey into the sector began unexpectedly after developing asthma while working as a department head in a local fish factory. Seeking a change, she took a temporary role as a care assistant in a residential home over Christmas, initially planning to stay for just six weeks. However, she quickly discovered a passion for care that has shaped her entire career.
Eilidh went on to work in home care for Highland Council, where she built extensive experience and a strong work ethic, often covering overtime and varied shifts. Encouraged by her sister-in-law, a district nurse, she applied to train as a nurse and began her studies soon after. From that point on, she never looked back, progressing into roles within nursing homes as a staff nurse, primarily on night shifts, before moving into a deputy manager position and eventually becoming a home manager.
She has recently joined The Meadows and values Sanctuary Care’s charitable ethos, particularly its commitment to reinvesting in homes and residents, promoting compassionate care, and embracing diversity within its workforce. Eilidh is passionate about understanding what matters most to each individual resident and using that insight to enhance their quality of life. She thrives in environments where she feels needed and enjoys the challenge of problem-solving and supporting others, particularly in times of crisis.
Throughout her career, Eilidh has continued to develop her expertise, training as a Dementia Champion with Alzheimer Scotland and as a facilitator in dementia care with the University of Stirling. She has also completed NHS training in psychological care and was involved in the launch of the Promoting Excellence framework. Her career highlights include supporting a resident to return to Colombia to be with family, taking a resident on holiday to France, achieving recognition as a runner-up in a Scottish Care palliative care award, and helping individuals regain independence and return home.
Outside of work, Eilidh’s greatest pride is her children. She also enjoys a wide range of creative hobbies including jewellery making, origami, costume design, writing, and poetry. In her spare time, she enjoys visiting castles and travelling back home to Lewis, particularly during storm season.
