We had a lovely Valentine's Day at Woodlands. The decorations and attention to detail - menus for lunch, beautifully dressed tables - so much effort put in. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Hot drinks were offered. The entertainment was wonderful. The residents really enjoyed themselves. An overall lovely day. The staff always give 100%.

Like a previous reviewer I find it hard to put into words how amazing the staff at Woodland Care Home are, they go above and beyond what is expected providing a level of care not only for the client but for the whole family. The facilities are good and the rooms are very clean. Food is excellent and drinks are readily available. However, Woodland's biggest asset is their wonderful staff, the managers, nurses, caterers and cleaners are truly amazing. My brother-in-law went into Woodland basically for end-of-life care and could not of asked for better. He had a large family all of whom visited and were made welcome in the last weeks of his life. In the last week his daughters, granddaughters and sister stayed around the clock, usually three or four at a time during the nights and as many as eight or ten some days. They were never made to feel in the way, in fact, they were welcomed and treated as part of the team. This was a very difficult time for all concerned but it was made easier by the love and care provided!

It is impossible to put into words how wonderful Woodland is. This is now my mother's home and every member of the staff is her extended family. The care and kindness given by all is simply outstanding, placing the resident's needs, respect and dignity at the heart of everything they do. All carers are attentive to all resident's comfort, safety and well-being. They bring a holistic approach to care, showing interest and concern and consistently communicating with me in respect of all aspects of my mother's health. They are always quick to respond to any changes in her health and their exceptional care has given my mother, thus far, three years of a happy comfortable life which she would have not enjoyed without them. The home is always spotlessly clean and the homemade food is exceptional. They create a warm and welcoming environment, where nothing is too much trouble. I truly cannot thank each and every one of them enough. They are exceptionally special people.

At the start of the pandemic, we were told my mum had dementia markers, but she was high functioning, so we had plenty of time to get our ducks in a row. Fast forward three months, and we were all in a living hell as she deteriorated so rapidly. Trying to get any help or support during that period was impossible, but eventually, we got the call to say she had a place at Woodlands. Mum had the most amazing care in the 18 months she was there. It was a difficult time with restrictions in place with visits limited and often not possible, but the staff did everything they could to keep her safe and happy while giving us the peace of mind that even if we couldn't be there ourselves, she was loved and cared for. The staff genuinely cared for Mum and myself, and I will be eternally grateful for their compassion and care during a very difficult period.

Mum has been a resident here for 3 years. We have always found the atmosphere to be homely (they seem to go out of their way to achieve this) and the staff to be well trained and very caring. Although they are very busy the staff not only attend to the necessary things but also the additional comfort things making the resident as comfortable as possible and feel part of the overall family. We are also quickly informed of anything that happens affecting health and well-being as well as the more fun social events of which there are plenty.

Knowing Mum is in Woodlands and in the care of its team is a great comfort to me and I don't need to worry. Thanks to all the team, everything that you do is appreciated.

Woodland (Care Home) cannot be praised highly enough. My husband has been in its care for over twelve months. I have visited Woodland very regularly and stayed for a number of hours. During that time, I have only seen kindness and excellent caring from all the staff. However, I do have an excellent example: this year my husband and I have been married for sixty years. It was impossible to take him out of this caring home to celebrate so Woodlands offered me an opportunity to have my 14 members of the family enjoy a party in the home. The atmosphere was absolutely loving and kind. They provided all the food and entertainment but most of all they provided love to all of us and even an exact copy of my wedding cake. No home could have done better. All my thanks to Woodland for their care and love for my husband, myself and all their residents.

What amazing staff. My father was a resident for ten weeks. They all have hearts of gold. They couldn't do enough for him and our family. They are so supportive and caring. Especially at my dads end of life care. They didn't just look after my dad but all of the family when we needed support most. It was so reassuring that Dad was treated so well there. All the staff there are so smiley and welcoming when you visit.

Mum went into Woodland care home in June she was in the late stages of Alzheimer’s and passed away in August. The staff at Woodland care home cared for mum so well, they always made sure that mum was happy, comfortable, clean and tidy. They fully understood her needs and were so flexible with allowing us to visit. We couldn’t have wished for better care for Mum. Thank you to all of the staff there for all of the help and support.

My mum moved to Woodlands in May and we were immediately delighted with the environment in the home and the caring and responsive staff. There is always someone to discuss any concerns and we are relieved to have found Mum a place where she is so well looked after.

My mother fitted in very quickly and is enjoying herself.
I asked how she was getting on and she said, "I love it here".
Staff are very friendly and helpful.
The activities are certainly keeping her occupied, and the home is very welcoming to visitors.

I'm very impressed.

Overall Experience

My mother has been a resident at Woodlands for 5 years now; the staff have supported her extremely well through some very, very challenging physical, mental and underlying social issues, and have encouraged her in every way possible.

They have exceeded their remit, as an EMA registered home, and their care, under the guidance of their management and senior staff, has kept her out of psychiatric hospital.

The home has been superb in trying to access specialist services which she has needed, and the day to day care she has received from the kind and cheerful staff has been of the best quality. The food is good and residents' tastes catered for.

The activities are varied, and there is a member of staff who coordinates these, and, bringing a friend in for a special event, the friend, who has had a lot of experience of homes, commented on how bright and friendly the atmosphere was.

My mother said, a while ago "This is my home now; I feel secure here", and that meant a lot.

My mother was at the point when she needed 24-hour care.

Having worked in the hospital/care industry and knowing the care homes in the area, we chose Woodlands from start to finish. We were treated with dignity and nothing was too much trouble. Staff all pleasant, management flexible, it was the right choice for us. 5* treatment.

My husband received excellent care at Woodland. All staff were kind, compassionate and caring. It was a stressful time for me and my family. The staff supported us all the time. When I visited I was greeted with smiles and hugs. I felt they were my extended family. Without their support I would not have coped. They went well past their remit to look after us.

My brother was at Woodland for over three months and despite delays in finding a more suitable home for him, the manager and staff were truly amazing. He should have been moved months before, but all the staff were so kind and caring to him and his family. The staff, from the top to the bottom were always cheerful and very professional, despite lack of support from CPN Social Services in helping to get my brother in a more suitable establishment.
