Bluebell House Care Home is one of a group of ten Residential Care Homes owned and operated by the Stonehaven (Healthcare) Group in Devon and Cornwall. As with all homes in the group each Resident enjoys a very high standard of care in a 'home and family' focused environment.

Bluebell House offers 25 bedrooms (mostly single) where elderly people, elderly people with physical disability and elderly people with dementia, are expertly cared for.

There is a dedicated and highly trained Care Team whose compassion and skill make Donnington House a real HOME where frequent recommendation and positive feedback are regularly enjoyed.

Carers understand that for many the prospect of a move to a Residential Home can be a daunting one. To help dispel any concerns, carers offer free a 'Familiarisation Day' to prospective residents (so long as capacity allows) - where a prospective resident may spend a day at the home with a family member or friend.

It is the desire to ensure that all who come into contact with Bluebell House leave with an overwhelmingly positive impression of the home.

The staff are caring and well-skilled, and the management is extremely good and leads well. My mum has been in Bluebell for 13 months, and her health has improved. Activities are super, and Mum is always involved. The staff have a great sense of humour, which Mum loves. Any problems were easily solved,
and everything to help Mum recover after a fall had been done. As a family, we can not thank them enough. Mum has always been there for lots of people besides her own family and now has really good care. Thank you to each and everyone at Bluebell House; you are all very much appreciated.

I will be putting in a complaint about this nursing home. They took my mum knowing all her problems with dementia saying they could cope within 3 months. They gave her a month to move because they can't cope. The matron was never available when we needed a chat, always put on to an assistant. My dad
put money in their coffers for mum to have her hair cut and to see a chiropodist but that never happened either. Now as Mum broke a TV they are trying to make my dad pay for a new one, way over the odds. I was also told that dad could visit any time. That was a lie as he was turned away at least twice because they hadn't booked him in when I know we did. I will be taking this to CQC and head office.

Since my husbandd has been in Bluebell House Care home all the staff have done everything to help him settle in. Every time I visit he is always clean and tidy as is his room. There is a range of activities to encourage residents out of their room even when they are reluctant to join in. If I needed
to go into care I would be happy to go into Bluebell House.

I cannot thank the staff enough for the amazing care they have given to my mother and the support they have shown the whole family. They go above and beyond their duties making sure that Mum is about to communicate through video calls to ourselves abroad. Mum is always well dressed and her interests
addressed, in particular with her joy of playing the piano. I cannot recommend this home enough. We have been so lucky. Mum is very happy.

Dad having to go into care was an extremely emotional time, however, he has been at Bluebell House for over a year now and although it has been a tough time for all due to the pandemic, throughout it all the care he has received has been kind and professional. Whenever I ring for an update the carers
are always happy to fill me in on how dad is getting on and book me in visits. I feel the carers know dad’s personality and character and genuinely care about him. Dad is a wonderful man who deserves the best and I feel he is certainly getting that at Bluebell House.

The staff genuinely care about the residents and are aware of the emotions involved when placing a loved one into a residential setting. Staff actually talk "to" not "at" the residents and are warm and friendly as well as being professional. They always have time to chat to you and ask questions; of
which there are many, for those of us for whom this is a new experience.
The home is very well managed; the paperwork and testing trail is excellent, which is extremely reassuring, especially in the current climate.
I haven't met the Directors but Mum assures me she has seen "him" and he is nice!! Before any of the Directors get too excited...Mum has dementia

The care Dad has received from Bluebells has been outstanding. All staff have been supportive, dedicated, caring and above all seem to care deeply for Dad which is reflected in their interaction with Dad and their collective knowledge of his needs, well being and behaviours from whomever I speak to
when I call to check-in. Doesn't matter who I speak to, they all seem well aware of Dad and how he is progressing. A recent spate of non attended falls has been monitored closely and responded to with total professionalism and care, providing Dad with the safest possible environment for his needs.

My experience here at Bluebell House has been wonderful. Food is good, staff cannot do enough for you, everything you need in the rooms, a button to press if you need help and staff coming straight away. Lovely views from the windows (sea etc). The staff continuously come to the room to see if you want
anything else to eat or drink. I would strongly recommend it to anyone.

Having had only 3 months here (I came in September 2020) with the whole world affected by the Coronavirus, my review will be brief. It has been easy settling here and my outstanding thought is the superb work of the carers, so kind and always willing to help.
The new visitor's room is excellently designed.
Although I am somewhat deaf, I was able to hear and see my daughter in comfort when she visited.

I have visited my friend at this establishment only four times to date and have been received by friendly, helpful staff - including the management. My friend has expressed his full satisfaction with services rendered and has told me that much kindness is given. It appears to me that all physical needs
are being met. He exercises his right to either get out of bed in the mornings, or to 'lay-in' if that's his preference. His room appears to meet requirements, however, its window faces directly onto the wall of a nearby building and so, in my opinion, makes the outlook rather 'dingey' - my only criticism!

My friend has been at the care home for 6 months and has enjoyed her time there, always looks good, well dressed etc. Personal care is done with kindness and care. Enjoys time in the lounge watching TV with coffee, tea and cold drinks always available. Entertainment, visiting art is, pets, games, crafts,
all dealt with and a few trips out in the minibus.

I have been very pleased with the way the care manager interacts with both the residents and the visiting family members. She communicates with the residents seeking to understand their needs and is pro-active in her (and the team's) responses.

Happy with all aspects of treatment given to the residents, especially with the activities as they are encouraged to take part but not forced. We can visit at any time and the family pets are accepted as well. The only downside I have seen is that their clothes are sometimes misplaced and so they are
dressed in other resident's clothes.

I came to Bluebell in 2019 as Deputy Manager and then in 2020 became the Registered Manager of Bluebell House. It is a wonderful home and is a home with a heart. Our residents are our family members.
