My mum has been at Bluebell House for nearly 4 years and during all that time she has received outstanding care and support.
I have seen Mum blossom over the years and she is very happy to be in Bluebell House.

I am so grateful to all the staff - thank you so much.

I have always been very happy with the care provided by Bluebell for the resident and so has he.
I am also very pleased with the improvements that have been made recently both inside of the home
and outside in the gardens.
Also it is great that the annual fun day this year is centred on his 100th year and he is very pleased to know that his life is being highlighted and celebrated - thank you to one member of staff in particular for your efforts!

He has been with Bluebell now for nearly 6 years and has been very happy and content.

Bluebelle House has some great staff with caring and conscientious empathy with their residents. They do their upmost to enhance the lives of all the residents with a great activity schedule. Since my mum went into the care home, they have treated her wonderfully and kept me informed of how she's doing.

Mum continues to go from strength to strength with the care and support of the team at Bluebell House. There is always something happening and one staff member in particular works tirelessly to ensure all residents are involved in activities that bring joy and purpose to their days. In addition, another staff member has been working hard to find appealing food options to increase Mum's variety of food choices too.

Overall Experience
Most staff are caring and helpful, however, there are issues that are disappointing.
Mum pays c£1500 per week privately, serious mobility issues, we have been told she has dementia and is very confused and has entered EOL Phase. She has to privately fund her own wheelchair £25/wk, which is disappointing.
She has contracted several contagious illnesses and been hospitalised twice, once with pneumonia, during her 2 years at Bluebell. A staff member advised they have to work when they are sick as they otherwise don't get paid, which seems outrageous in a care home environment.

I am 3 hours away and it is difficult for me to visit, but I try to call most days. I estimate that 2 of 3 attempts to call the phone is not answered (50% during the week, 75% at weekends). It is frustrating as, when I do get through, Mum is often asleep, given her condition, so there are few chances to speak. She says she is very lonely, I think she receives personal care, food, but would benefit from more company.

I visit once a month with my Pat dog, and we are always made so welcome both by the staff and the residents.

Such a lovely location with amazing views and is always neat and tidy. Always some activity taking place to engage the residents, and the smile on their faces when they meet my dog makes it all worthwhile.

Very satisfied for my mother to be staying here. We don't visit too often and she hasn't recognised me now for a few years. It's a pity dogs are no longer allowed to visit because this was the only thing that made her smile and appear happy.

The staff are caring and well-skilled, and the management is extremely good and leads well. My mum has been in Bluebell for 13 months, and her health has improved. Activities are super, and Mum is always involved. The staff have a great sense of humour, which Mum loves. Any problems were easily solved, and everything to help Mum recover after a fall had been done. As a family, we can not thank them enough. Mum has always been there for lots of people besides her own family and now has really good care. Thank you to each and everyone at Bluebell House; you are all very much appreciated.

I will be putting in a complaint about this nursing home. They took my mum knowing all her problems with dementia saying they could cope within 3 months. They gave her a month to move because they can't cope. The matron was never available when we needed a chat, always put on to an assistant. My dad put money in their coffers for mum to have her hair cut and to see a chiropodist but that never happened either. Now as Mum broke a TV they are trying to make my dad pay for a new one, way over the odds. I was also told that dad could visit any time. That was a lie as he was turned away at least twice because they hadn't booked him in when I know we did. I will be taking this to CQC and head office.

I cannot thank the staff enough for the amazing care they have given to my mother and the support they have shown the whole family. They go above and beyond their duties making sure that Mum is about to communicate through video calls to ourselves abroad. Mum is always well dressed and her interests addressed, in particular with her joy of playing the piano. I cannot recommend this home enough. We have been so lucky. Mum is very happy.

Dad having to go into care was an extremely emotional time, however, he has been at Bluebell House for over a year now and although it has been a tough time for all due to the pandemic, throughout it all the care he has received has been kind and professional. Whenever I ring for an update the carers are always happy to fill me in on how dad is getting on and book me in visits. I feel the carers know dad’s personality and character and genuinely care about him. Dad is a wonderful man who deserves the best and I feel he is certainly getting that at Bluebell House.

The staff genuinely care about the residents and are aware of the emotions involved when placing a loved one into a residential setting. Staff actually talk "to" not "at" the residents and are warm and friendly as well as being professional. They always have time to chat to you and ask questions; of which there are many, for those of us for whom this is a new experience.
The home is very well managed; the paperwork and testing trail is excellent, which is extremely reassuring, especially in the current climate.

I haven't met the Directors but Mum assures me she has seen "him" and he is nice!! Before any of the Directors get too excited...Mum has dementia

The care Dad has received from Bluebells has been outstanding. All staff have been supportive, dedicated, caring and above all seem to care deeply for Dad which is reflected in their interaction with Dad and their collective knowledge of his needs, well being and behaviours from whomever I speak to when I call to check-in. Doesn't matter who I speak to, they all seem well aware of Dad and how he is progressing. A recent spate of non attended falls has been monitored closely and responded to with total professionalism and care, providing Dad with the safest possible environment for his needs.
