The Lilacs Residential Home

The Lilacs has proved a friendly and caring home for my mother. She seems to be happy and settled there. I and my family are satisfied with the care she receives. I find the staff (and management) respond well to any criticism that comes their way, and I am grateful for that. Food is great, and her
room is kept clean (although I have had to request a clean once). Her bible has gone missing and not found and residents often go into her room unexpectedly.
Reply from Nathan Stone, Director. at The Lilacs Residential HomeGood morning David. Thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback. It's lovely to read that you find The Lilacs to be a friendly and caring home and that your mum seems to be happy and settled. Thankyou also for the kind words about the management and care team in general. And the positive feedback regarding the food. I am pleased to report that your Mum's bible has been found in a silver bag in her wardrobe. It's difficult to prevent residents from wandering into each others rooms - room doors can be locked but that generally creates the wrong atmosphere. I can only ask that you encourage your Mum to use her call bell if this does happen so one of the care team can attend and ask any resident who has entered to leave. Of course, if this is a persistent issues then please discuss with the care home manager so we can explore any other possible solutions. Again, thank you for your kind feedback. Kindest regards, Nathan.

A few more staff on duty would be beneficial, weekends and mealtimes especially. Room cleaning is fairly superficial and could be more thorough. With no proper dedicated cook, meals are pre prepared frozen plates, not home cooked. My mother is not keen. For the high fees paid something better would
be in order.
Reply from Nathan Stone, Director. at Kent House Care HomeGood afternoon CR. Thank you for your feedback. You've raised some concerns. We constantly review staffing numbers to ensure that they are correct to meet the needs of the residents in our care and are happy that those are Kent House do. We have a staffing ratio, rather than 1 to 1 - so on occasions some residents may have to wait whilst others needs are being taken care of. Our food offering at Kent House is fantastic, we use an external supplier who provide an extensive menu of delicious meals which are targeted in terms of ingredients to the bespoke needs of residents in care homes. Feedback is overwhelmingly positive and a significant improvement over the previous provision. Indeed, I understand that you and your husband joined Kent House for Christmas Lunch and loved the food. Please do take the opportunity to try some more of the meals. I'll ask the Care Home Manager to talk to your Mum and see if we can find some meals she likes. Kindest regards, Nathan.

I have been extremely happy with Dove Tree House, my mother, since being in there is happy and content. I'm confident that she is being well cared for. The staff are always very helpful.
Always good to know the management are around and if needed, no problem would be too great for them. The home is
kept spotlessly clean at all times. My mother enjoys and takes part in the regular activities each week.
Wouldn't want my mother to be anywhere else.

Despite resent senoir management changes I've been highly empressed with the professionalism, consistently and dedication of the frontline care team. Their care has not faultered and they continue to provide the highest quality provision with nothing but the needs of the residents at the forefront of
their prorities. They engage in their duties with warmth, compassion and always a smile. I'm grateful to all of the Kent House team for all they care they provide not only to my mother in law but to me as a family member.

St Petroc's House Care Home

from Sarah O (Niece of Resident) published on 26 January 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Auntie became a resident at St Petrocs nearly three years ago and remained there until her recent passing.
Her admission was an emotional experience for us both. However, the team at St Petrocs made the transition for us both as painless as possible.
The team took their time to get to know my
Aunties likes and dislikes, and catered to these, providing her with personalised care.
At all times she was comfortable and well cared for. The team were responsive in changing health care needs, involving outside support as necessary.
I was always made welcome and involved in my Aunties care. Importantly care is a collaboration between resident, family and the dedicated care team.
St Petrocs really do provide a homely care experience, never did i feel care was task orientated.
Reply from Nathan Stone, Director. at St Petroc's House Care HomeGood evening Sarah. Firstly, please may I offer my condolences for the recent sad loss of your Auntie. May I also thank you so much for leaving this really positive review and providing detail that is bound to be helpful to other families who will find themselves in the emotional situation of sourcing the right care home for their loved one. It's lovely to read how our team at St Petrocs helped you both through the transition and continued to care for your Auntie for the next (almost) 3 years. It's particularly lovely to read that you felt that our team at St Petrocs provide a homely experience - that's exactly what we are seeking to achieve. Thank you for your kind words in reference to our Care Team - I know they will be greatly appreciated. Kindest regards, Nathan.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Chellacott House has been caring for my Mum, who has cancerous brain tumours since November 25 & during that time my family have found the management & staff to be kind & caring towards Mum & friendly towards us. The activities coordinator has been especially kind & supportive towards Mum & regularly
visits her to check on her and spends time talking to her & us if we are visiting, he also encouraged Mum to join in the Christmas activities so she had a change of scenery though she wasn't well enough to join in. The nurses have also been really supportive kind & caring towards Mum & have been willing to answer our questions & have organised reviews of Mum's care via third parties quickly which we really appreciate. Sometimes, the, cleaning is not perfect but it is still of a good quality and sometimes Mum has to wait a long time for someone to help her use the bed pan which can cause her distress but we realise the staff are busy.

I have been visiting a resident for almost a year. He is very happy here and exceptionally looked after. All the staff are warm and welcoming and very attentive, and management is fantastic and always ready to listen should a concern arise. We were very apprehensive about putting him in a home, but
I knew that he would be safe in Bluebells as I worked with Kathy a few years back, so I knew I could trust her management and her staff. Overall, Bluebells is beyond expectations due to Kathy. Thank you all at Bluebells.

Bluebell House Care Home

I question the recent communal room changes as this has caused distress to my mother. Was it necessary for this change to be made? Who does it benefit? The new view is lovely so why are the chairs facing the opposite way? There appears to be sufficient seating for the residents but not visitors.
I don't think being offered a wheelchair to sit on is appropriate. Nor is it fair to expect residents to leave the lounge and go to their room when a visitor comes to see them. Where is the inclusivity, socialisation etc.?
On a positive note the care staff show that they have got to know the people they look after, including my mother, which I find very reassuring, plus they have got to know us as well. The laundry service and food is very good and the home is tidy.
Reply from Nathan Stone, Director. at Bluebell House Care HomeGood afternoon EH. Thank you for taking the time to leave this review of your experience with our Care Team and Care Home at Bluebell House in Westward Ho! The Care Team have, at their choice, recently changed the way in which communal areas are used - this was done with prior discussion with residents and the care team. Feedback to date has been very positive. That being said, it is of concern that you feel that this has caused distress to your mum. Speaking to the Care Home Manager I am advised that your mum is now taking part in more communal activities, is interacting with more residents and is displaying no signs of distress or confusion. Noting what you say about visitor seating - we always see it as a positive when communal areas are busy with residents happy to leave their rooms and join in socially. Sometimes this will mean that there is limited seating space but we are fortunate to have a number of lounge areas that can be used. Kindest regards, Nathan.

My father in law has only been staying at Bluebell for a week so far.
Staff are friendly and helpful that we have seen so far.
Dad seems really happy and in his words had to much food to eat, which is a good thing.
