Overview

The Review Score of 9.6 (maximum of 10) for St Petroc's House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 22 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for St Petroc's House Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.574 for St Petroc's House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (160 Excellents x 5) + (94 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 263 Ratings = 4.574

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Petroc's House Care Home is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 6 positive Reviews (30 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 16 Reviews ÷ 6 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

9.6 St Petroc's House Care Home has a Review Score of 9.6 (9.574) from 22 Reviews

Staff are extremely helpful - nothing is ever too much trouble. I am always kept informed if anything changes with my dad. If I have any worries or concerns I know the staff will do all they can to help and have done so on many occasions. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff or the home.

At a time when options for the appropriate type of care were difficult to decide, St Petrocs provided the very best solution and gave the family peace of mind.

It's always really great for our care teams to receive such public recognition as this for their hard work, and it will be their pleasure to look after your mum.

We could not have received better care then we did for my dad at St Petroc's. All staff were very friendly and helpful. On first visiting St Petroc's it had a lovely feel, a really good atmosphere. Although dad was only there for a month he improved so much due to the care and obviously the chef. We hear such horror stories about care homes but you all proved this to be one less worry for the family. Thank you.

Hello Cath A. Thank you for taking the time to write and publish this review of your experience with our Care Team and Care Home at St. Petrocs in Bodmin. We're all really pleased that your Dad was so well looked after during his months stay and that you and the wider family were able to rest assured that he was in safe hands. Feedback such as this is really important, not least as it provides great public recognition of the hard work of our care team members whose work, as you say, is too often tarnished by the horror stories that make the news.

Mum was extremely happy and comfortable here which allowed us to leave her without worrying about her care. Manager and staff always went out of their way to accommodate Mum's wishes.

Many thanks again, Nathan.

I have been in the care home for just over 12 months and during that time, I have been treated with dignity and well looked after by the kind and friendly staff. Despite their busy schedule, nothing has been too much trouble. If I need help or assistance at any time. The meals are excellent with a good variation. The recent addition of a fried breakfast (if required) once a week is proving very popular and something extra to look forward to. The laundry and cleaning services are a credit to the home. I would have no hesitation in recommending St Petroc's House Care Home to friends and family as it is a very welcoming and friendly home.

I visited my 98-year-old uncle whilst I was on holiday in Cornwall. I was very impressed with the home. The place was clean, smelt nice and the staff were friendly and efficient. They seemed to cater for my uncle's total needs, nothing was too much trouble. I was impressed, especially as I managed a 51 bedded nursing home myself until I retired.

Good morning Julia B. Thank you for taking the time to write this review following your visit to our St Petrocs Care Home in Bodmin. It's always really nice for the home and the care team to receive such public recognition as this. Of course, perhaps even a little bit more when it comes from somebody such as yourself who is well aware of the hard work that goes into running a care home:) Thank you again, Nathan.

I feel very lucky to have found such a caring nursing home. I was encouraged to make my room into a home from home, with some of my own belongings and furniture which made it so easy to settle in. All staff from managers to all care staff, down to kitchen staff, can't do enough for you.
The atmosphere here is wonderful, everyone is very caring, nothing is too much trouble for them. Whatever your needs, they help us to do arts and crafts, we are also helped to pot plants for those of us how miss our gardens. They are 100% behind you all the way.
My family know I am secure and happy. I bless the day I found such lovely new friends and carers. We have a weekly hairdresser and monthly chiropodist, which is a great help.

Mum came to St Petrocs House Care Home for 2 weeks respite which turned into 6 weeks! She was well cared for, all the staff were very kind and friendly and meals were excellent. Sometimes she would have liked a few more activities but she was happy to join in with most of the activities provided.
There was a trip to the coast on a mini bus which she particularly enjoyed. There are regular visits by a hairdresser and chiropodist.

Good morning Diana T - thank you for taking the time to write and publish this review of our Care Team and Care Home at St Petrocs in Bodmin. It's always really nice to hear that our residents feel happy and well looked after. A 'Happy go lucky' atmosphere is a really great achievement for our Care Team to have reached, in particular given the ridged rules and regulations that they must adhere to in their day to day working lives. Again, it's great to hear that you are happy and thank you for this lovely feedback which will be warmly received by our Care Team.

Mum has been well cared for in the time she has been here. She appears settled and content and the staff have been very kind to her. She appears happy to be here but sometimes says she misses having people to talk to, but maybe she likes to talk too much.

Your staff are caring both to residents and visitors. The recent refurbishment has been beneficial. (I'm amazed how the decorators worked without inconvenience to the residents).
When visiting my very elderly (102) dad, who is blind, deaf and frail, it can be difficult to sit near enough in the lounge to be able to communicate with him. The option is taking him to his room can cause him distress as he is immobile.

Good afternoon Ann W. Thank you for taking the time to write and publish this review of your experience with our St Petrocs Care Home in Bodmin. It's always great when our care teams receive public shows of appreciation and recognition such as this. With regards to the issue about being able to sit close enough to your Dad when you visit please do have a word with any of the team members to see if a suitable solution can be found. Kindest regards, Nathan.

My mother was a resident of St Petroc's twice as a temporary resident (respite) before becoming permanent in March due to deteriorating mobility and dementia. She was made very welcome and quickly settled in despite some apprehension. She was very happy with the staff and food at all times and had a very pleasant, bright room. On the occasion that she needed a GP, the home was very prompt in arranging it and became experts at spotting problems early. As she deteriorated and became bed bound, she was kept very clean with no pressure sore issues due to good care. I unhesitatingly recommend St Petroc's and it's staff.

Good afternoon Firstly, thank you for taking the time to write and publish this review of the care that you and your mum experienced at our St. Petrocs Care Home in Bodmin. We are all very proud of our whole care team at St. Petrocs. This is a care home with an outstanding local reputation earned through years of consistently high-quality care provided by dedicated care team members. That said, feedback such as yours is always very much appreciated and a very welcome public acknowledgement of the hard work of the care team there.

My mum moved into permanent care in March 2016. In her last month, she was really poorly. The carers made her life as comfortable as possible. They fed her at meal times, turned her to prevent any sores and went above and beyond the normal care to help her.

Hello Julie H. Many thanks for taking the time to write and publish this review. It's always interesting to hear the views of people who have been involved with our homes over a period of time. As such it's great to hear that you feel the home has improved in the past 12 months - we've always enjoyed very positive feedback in relation to St Petrocs and it's often the case that the better you are the harder it is to find improvement - it's great to hear that the manager and her team have managed it.

This is my first experience of a care home. I am full of praise for the way I have been looked after since I came here about ten days ago. My private room is very comfortable, the food is good and the staff are so helpful. Nothing is any trouble to them. I am here for a short stay and I will be sorry to leave.
