I visited my 98-year-old uncle whilst I was on holiday in Cornwall. I was very impressed with the home. The place was clean, smelt nice and the staff were friendly and efficient. They seemed to cater for my uncle's total needs, nothing was too much trouble. I was impressed, especially as I managed a
51 bedded nursing home myself until I retired.

I feel very lucky to have found such a caring nursing home. I was encouraged to make my room into a home from home, with some of my own belongings and furniture which made it so easy to settle in. All staff from managers to all care staff, down to kitchen staff, can't do enough for you.
The atmosphere
here is wonderful, everyone is very caring, nothing is too much trouble for them. Whatever your needs, they help us to do arts and crafts, we are also helped to pot plants for those of us how miss our gardens. They are 100% behind you all the way.
My family know I am secure and happy. I bless the day I found such lovely new friends and carers. We have a weekly hairdresser and monthly chiropodist, which is a great help.

Mum came to St Petrocs House Care Home for 2 weeks respite which turned into 6 weeks! She was well cared for, all the staff were very kind and friendly and meals were excellent. Sometimes she would have liked a few more activities but she was happy to join in with most of the activities provided.
There
was a trip to the coast on a mini bus which she particularly enjoyed. There are regular visits by a hairdresser and chiropodist.

My father, who is a centenarian, had stayed at St Petroc's several times in the past three months. He has been made very welcome and very comfortable. I have been made very welcome and very comfortable. I have been impressed by the efficiency and empathy of the staff, and by the range of services and
activities available. I am very grateful to St Petroc's for the care he has been shown and would have no hesitation in recommending this care home.

Your staff are caring both to residents and visitors. The recent refurbishment has been beneficial. (I'm amazed how the decorators worked without inconvenience to the residents).
When visiting my very elderly (102) dad, who is blind, deaf and frail, it can be difficult to sit near enough in the lounge
to be able to communicate with him. The option is taking him to his room can cause him distress as he is immobile.

My mother was a resident of St Petroc's twice as a temporary resident (respite) before becoming permanent in March due to deteriorating mobility and dementia. She was made very welcome and quickly settled in despite some apprehension. She was very happy with the staff and food at all times and had a
very pleasant, bright room. On the occasion that she needed a GP, the home was very prompt in arranging it and became experts at spotting problems early. As she deteriorated and became bed bound, she was kept very clean with no pressure sore issues due to good care. I unhesitatingly recommend St Petroc's and it's staff.

My mum moved into permanent care in March 2016. In her last month, she was really poorly. The carers made her life as comfortable as possible. They fed her at meal times, turned her to prevent any sores and went above and beyond the normal care to help her.

This is my first experience of a care home. I am full of praise for the way I have been looked after since I came here about ten days ago. My private room is very comfortable, the food is good and the staff are so helpful. Nothing is any trouble to them. I am here for a short stay and I will be sorry

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.664)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.664) out of 10 for St Petroc's House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.764 for St Petroc's House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.764
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Petroc's House Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
