Without the wonderful care and support of all staff at the Lilac care home I could not have coped very well as my husband was really poorly. They were angels without wings not only did they look after my husband they made sure I was ok also I must say the food was excellent.

My wife has been in care for 19 weeks now. I think the staff do an excellent job. I cannot praise them enough my wife is well looked after and is kept safe and I like the entertainment in the afternoon rather than just sitting watching T.V. Overall very pleased cant thank them enough.

Very disappointed. My husband didn't like the hot food so only had a sandwich and yogurt twice a day plus some crisps and snacks. Consequently he has lost weight. The garden was lovely but what spoilt it were full ashtrays and flower pots full of cigarette buts. Some of the staff were helpful and nice
but when my daughter, son in law and grandchildren visited they immediately got scanned without any explanation. Obviously the children were confused at to what was happening. We thought this was very rude and unnecessary. I collected my husband the evening before I was due to as he had been very agitated and had been shouting, he felt like he was in a prison. When we left no one said goodbye and I felt we left under a cloud, quite uncomfortable. My husbands bedroom smelt of urine when we arrived and was worse on one of my visits. Overall very disappointed.

A friendly comfortable home for the elderly. My mother has received excellent care and attention when needed. I would recommend this home, the staff are well trained and show compassion and empathy. A very pleasant and happy environment for all who work, visit or live at The Lilacs.

The staff at this care home made a supreme effort to ensure my mum enjoyed her 100th birthday in July, decorating her room, making a special cake and marking the occasion with photos in their newsletter.
The staff at this home treat my mum with great patience and dignity and are very warm towards her.
A great deal of effort is made with her likes and dislikes. The home is not luxurious but it is warm and homely and there always seems to be something organised for the residents.

After living at The Lilacs for several years, as her Alzheimer's progressed, my mother died there on 8th February 2024. We were surrounded by care and compassion both during and after her final days. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble, and it was as though they were saying goodbye to one of their
friends. I have nothing but praise for all the staff who looked after my mother during her years of residence. They knew her moods, likes and dislikes, and acted accordingly with kindness and understanding. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the way you looked after her. I couldn't have asked for better.

Twenty-one months ago, I had to make the hardest decision of my life. My mum had dementia and I had to put her in a care home. I chose The Lilacs Residential Home in Old Tiverton Road, Exeter. On Sunday, Mum became ill and they started palliative care. Over the last couple of days and nights, Mum and
I and other family members experienced such love and care from all the staff. From the manager to the cleaner, they showed such kindness and compassion. I heard stories from so many members of staff about Mum, that confirmed that I had done the right thing. They knew Mum, they had seen beyond the dementia and had seen her as she had been. They had treated her with respect and dignity right up to this morning when Mum passed peacefully. The kindness didn't stop though. Their concern then passed to me, making sure I was ok and guiding me through something I have never experienced before. I cannot thank Mum's Lilacs family enough. You have gone above and beyond. Thank you is just not enough.

I am so pleased with the care my mum receives at The Lilacs. All the staff are friendly and so very kind, nothing is too much trouble for them. I had been so worried about my mum and she is now so much happier and I can relax knowing that she is receiving exceptional care. Her whole life has improved
and she feels safe and loves the company she now has. Thank you for making a difficult time bearable and even happy for us knowing my mum is so well cared for.
