Gittisham Hill House Care Home is very good and the staff are extremely kind and caring. Everyone is treated with the utmost respect and my husband is very contented living there. I feel that for £1000 a week the room is rather small but it is comfortable. All the other amenities are very good. I am
always made to feel welcome and in these difficult times, the staff do their very best to be helpful. I feel we are very fortunate to have this amenity in the village.

The care for my husband is excellent. He has settled very well, thanks to the kindness and cheerfulness of all the staff. I always feel very welcome when visiting. I've met the other relatives at social events organised by the staff. I am so glad I found this care home for my husband.

My parents have settled in well to living at Gittisham Hill House. They are both well looked after in a sensitive and caring way. The staff are excellent and I am sure my mother would no longer be with us if she had not moved into the home.

Care home situated in beautiful grounds. The home and rooms are kept very clean and tidy. The carers are always helpful and informative, and it is easy to contact the home when needed. The atmosphere is quiet and positive. The residents seem settled and as happy as can be expected. The home takes all
interest in both residents and their relatives, which is very important. A smile goes a long way.

My father has now been a resident at Gittisham Hill House for three months. He is always clean, tidy and well dressed. Any requests he makes for drinks and food are always addressed. He is not an early riser but this is so well catered for that it no longer worries me. The staff are always friendly
and are always happy to answer questions, whatever time we visit.

I cannot be more grateful for the excellent care, consideration and love that all the staff at Gittisham have provided to both my father and us as a family since 2015.
The staff are all so caring and go above the call of duty in providing care. You genuinely get a sense of personal touch and that the
home and residence are a family unit of themselves.
I cannot commend this home higher for its service.

Management and staff very obliging and carry out their task with care and compassion.
Property needs some updating (décor).
Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Gittisham Hill House Care Home

Thank you for your kind comments about the staff which I know they will be pleased to hear. The décor in the home has been looked at and rooms are being refurbished as they become vacant, unfortunately, this will take some time to complete but it is a work in progress. We appreciate you taking the time to complete a care home review, as this is a good way for us to identify any issues or concerns you may have. My door is always open, should you wish to discuss this in more detail.

We have just returned from Gittisham Hill House where we were treated to Christmas Day lunch with my mother. The staff worked tirelessly to make this a really special day. There were masses of visitors, some staying for lunch and some just visiting. All were treated to a warm welcome from all the staff
who were calm and efficient despite being extremely busy.

I could not be more pleased with all aspects of Gittisham Hill House. My mother is beautifully cared for in every way, she is always clean, well dressed and despite having advanced dementia, is content. I eat with her when I visit and the food is plentiful and well cooked.
The staff make a huge effort
to keep everyone amused/engaged.

My uncle has had an average service from October-November. He moved rooms and can't complain as the staff have been extremely helpful. His previous room was very poor and far too small for anyone to live in, more like a rabbit hutch. In that room, the hot water is still not available!! Appalling.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.538)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.538) out of 10 for Gittisham Hill House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.638 for Gittisham Hill House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (68 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 105 Ratings = 4.638
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Gittisham Hill House Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 39 registered maximum number of service users is 7.8, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
