Reviews

9 Parkland House has a Review Score of 9 (9.004)

The Review Score of 9 (maximum of 10) for Parkland House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Parkland House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.869 for Parkland House is calculated as follows: ( (74 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.869

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.135 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Parkland House is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.75

    2. Target of 10.4 positive Reviews (52 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 4 Reviews ÷ 10.4 Target = 0.385

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My wife moved into Parklands in October 2015 with Alzheimer's which continues to get worse.
The staff continue to adjust their care to suit her current situation.
It has a calm and content atmosphere and the maximum is done to make the house feel like 'home'.

My Mother spent the last 6 months of her life being cared for by the wonderful staff at Parklands. Her condition was very challenging and I can't thank the staff enough for their love and patience in dealing with her. The level of care was first class and the home, gardens and facilities were first class.

Our mother was a resident at Parkland for eight years. We have never been able to fault the care, love and consideration they showed her, especially in the last week of her life. She passed away peacefully in their care.
Excellent food, hygiene and general ambience. Kind friendly staff always.
We were so happy with our choice for her.
Beautiful gardens and lovely light airy rooms and communal facilities.
Thank you Parkland, we will always be grateful.

The staff and carers treated my mother with great tenderness and warmth. For them, it is more than a job, it is a real concern for the well-being of the residents. Recent improvements to the common areas and gardens have created a very nice space for the residents and really without going over the top. The care at Parklands House is as good as it gets and all the staff are to be commended.

So very pleased with Parkland House. Mum is happy and enjoys her food and company. The staff are very kind to mum and make sure she is clean and tidy. It's so good to know mum is safe and being looked after so well. Well done Parkland!

The home was in my view excellent in every way. My mother was treated with dignity at all times by caring and committed staff. Her room was always clean and fresh as was mum herself. The activities were plentiful and greatly enjoyed by all the residents. I could not have asked for more from them - every query or concern was dealt with on contact. A big thanks to all at 'Parkland House' Exeter, that gave my mother a last few happy years. 'It's just like home here' - So what more can be said to that?

The team at Parkland House are providing wonderful care. My parents who moved in in December 2015 are very private people and my mother has severe dementia with highly volatile mood swings. The staff have done a tremendous job getting to know them both and understanding how best to provide the care they need in the best way. The home is immaculate, the food is of a very high standard and there is a full range of activities to engage the residents if they wish. many thanks to a wonderful team. I have no hesitation in recommending the home to others.
