Parkland House

The staff go all out to make sure my mum is cared for. They give help when she needs it but will let her do as much as she can manage herself. It is a happy care home. The carers always have a smile on their faces and nothing is too much trouble for them. I would highly recommend Parkland House.

My Mother was moved to Parkland House during the Covid pandemic therefore my wife and I were unable to visit and get a feel for the place nor meet the staff, as you can imagine this was very unsettling. We relied on telephone conversations to find out how Mum's health was and how she was settling in. Each time we phoned, we found the staff extremely helpful, most kind and informative. Restricted visits, adhering to Government guidelines, have been handled with empathy. Mum always looks clean and very well cared for. She was recently most unwell, feared to be at the end of her life. We were kept up to date with the situation and our time spent with her on what we thought was going to be our last visit was handled with dignity. We cannot praise the staff of Parkland House enough.

Mum has been at Parkland House since November 2019; she is really well cared for in lovely surroundings by kind and thoughtful staff. The home is very clean, there are activities for her to do, and in the summer she particularly enjoys the garden. She's able to potter about and get involved with lots of things and I know that she is safe and happy. This last year has been so difficult as we've not been able to visit as normal, but we have kept in touch through video calls, carefully arranged outside visits last summer and now face to face visits with all the safety procedures. This has all been managed well despite the extra time and effort that's required to manage all types of contact and keep residents safe; I was delighted when I could finally hold Mum's hand again earlier this month. I'm so pleased that Mum came to Parkland House, I really can't fault it - Mum is treated with dignity and as an individual with likes and dislikes all catered for. I'm grateful to everyone there.

My parents were residents at Parkland House from 2014, and I visited unannounced on a weekly basis. I cannot praise the staff too highly, for their unfailing kindness in their care and the way in which they respect the dignity of each individual. Never once did I see something that could cause concern, and it was very apparent that just interacting with the residents and giving of their time to them was the most important job. It is incredibly hard to have to relinquish care of loved ones to other people, and not a decision that can be taken lightly, but I know now that in choosing Parklands it was the best I could have done for Mum and Dad.

She passed at the home and the palliative care she received was first class. A wonderful home with great staff. 10/10.

It was the hardest decision of my life to put my mother into care. However, choosing Parkland House turned out to be my best decision. The warmth, kindness and care shown to residents and visitors alike, from our very first visit, was second to none. The efforts made to include everyone in activities and special occasions was brilliant. I have lovely memories of Mum singing along on music day and shaking her maracas! As Mum slowly declined, and eventually slept peacefully away, I could never fault their attention to detail.

Parkland are caring, kind and attentive looking after dementia patients in a friendly, homely way. Knowing your parent is being well cared for is such a relief in a safe environment.

Parkland House carers were always friendly. Was impressed that the carers knew immediately who I was by name and who I had come to visit. Mum was safe and well cared for which put my mind so much at rest and I could visit Mum as her daughter and not her carer (which I had been for years before she came to live at Parklands). The home always smelt nice on entering, was welcome and warm. I would recommend Parkland Home to anyone who has to make the difficult decision to place their relative in a care home.

Mum became unable to look after herself just before Christmas and we were so grateful that Parkland House was able to find a place for her at very short notice. She had previously been a resident at Parkland House but with excellent care had recovered enough to be able to go home for 12 months. The kind and caring staff made her so welcome and she has settled very well. Although this has been a difficult time for our mum and the family we have every confidence in the staff and manager at Parkland House and it's great relief to us to know that she is being so well looked after.

My Mother spent the last 6 months of her life being cared for by the wonderful staff at Parklands. Her condition was very challenging and I can't thank the staff enough for their love and patience in dealing with her. The level of care was first class and the home, gardens and facilities were first class.

The staff and carers treated my mother with great tenderness and warmth. For them, it is more than a job, it is a real concern for the well-being of the residents. Recent improvements to the common areas and gardens have created a very nice space for the residents and really without going over the top. The care at Parklands House is as good as it gets and all the staff are to be commended.

The home was in my view excellent in every way. My mother was treated with dignity at all times by caring and committed staff. Her room was always clean and fresh as was mum herself. The activities were plentiful and greatly enjoyed by all the residents. I could not have asked for more from them - every query or concern was dealt with on contact. A big thanks to all at 'Parkland House' Exeter, that gave my mother a last few happy years. 'It's just like home here' - So what more can be said to that?
