The warm and welcoming atmosphere is apparent when walking in the entrance. I have never seen so many smiling faces from staff and residents. My dad really loved being there and I should be so lucky to receive the same care in the future. There was always a space for parking when visiting and the location
in beautiful Kingsbridge is so close to the shops and estuary, which was a real plus. Thank you Quay Court.

From when my mother was first admitted with Alzheimer's in August 2016, the management and facilities have become much better. The food is good home cooking and there is plenty to eat. Activities do take place but are limited probably due to the residents broad, complex needs and a lack of staff. The
opportunity for some residents to be taken out would improve their well being but can only be achieved with more staff. The staff are kind, welcoming, caring and respectful. Both my mother and father were residents for over a year, and the end of life care given to them and us was exceptional.

Both my parents were resident, my Father for 9 1/2 years. My Uncle is still a resident. My relatives have been very well cared for and were/are treated as members of the 'Quay Court family'. All staff are welcoming and happy to discuss care. The current manager is extremely approachable and is very
concerned and caring of her clients. Visitors and relatives are always made to feel welcome.

My grandmother has been here since February and has recently passed a few days ago. The staff have all been so lovely with her and us. I would like to give an extra to mention to the three carers at they treated her as if she were their relation. They do an incredible job which at times must be so tough.
I cannot thank them enough for the time they gave to my gran in helping us make her last few months as comfortable as possible.

I have noticed that it smells fresher over the last three months when I go down to the lower floor which is where my mother is. I visit two or even three times a day as I live near - perhaps it is due to changing cleaning products.

Staff and management were efficient, caring and considerate. All the residents were treated with respect, courtesy and understanding. The food was all home cooked and of a very high standard. The atmosphere was homely and cheerful. All the staff went that extra mile to ensure the resident's needs were
met.

The care I received was sufficient for what I needed at the time.
I was suffering intense pain in my knees and relied on the staff to help with personal needs on the few occasions I needed.
The arthritic pain was intense as I am waiting for knee replacement/reconstruction. I could have been offered
more help rather than having to ask for it.

I found Quay Court very comfortable with friendly and proficient staff. The building offers very good views of the Kingsbridge Estuary to hold interest and daily activities are organised for those who don't want to "stand and stare".

I have been absolutely delighted with the standard of care offered by Quay Court. The home is very professionally and efficiently run, and the care given to my husband is wonderful. His dementia has been worsening quite quickly, but the atmosphere is so calm and relaxing, and the staff so attentive
and genuinely caring, that he is always cheerful and content. The daily routine is pleasant, with various appropriate activities taking place. Meals are well-balanced and nourishing; I sometimes join him for lunch so can certainly say that the food is tasty and appetising. I would like to take this opportunity to recognise the excellent work done by the whole team, and to thank them for their loving care.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.066)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.066) out of 10 for Quay Court Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.841 for Quay Court Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 69 Ratings = 4.841
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.225 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Quay Court Care Centre is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.6 = 0.625
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2022

I've worked in Health and Social Care since 2009 and in this time, I have progressed from a Health Care Assistant to my current title of Registered Manager. I have been at Quay Court since 2022 and strive on ensuring the care received is person centred and delivered to a high standard. I enjoy building relationships with the residents, their families and visiting professionals as I believe this is key to ensuring a better outcome, both physically and mentally for the residents in our care. Outside of work, I have two young children who love being outdoors so we are always exploring Dartmoor and the local beaches.
