Rose Lawn is a charming property, a pleasant place to live and visit and an ideal choice for a wide range of care needs.

Carers are skilled in a variety of nursing needs, help residents to practice independent living and enjoy the activities residents wish to pursue.

The care provision is based on a strong Christian ethos, while carers are trained to take a holistic approach and in achieving best practice.

Rose Lawn hosts Holy Communion once a month, and is also able to provide support to those wishing to attend church.

Rose Lawn provides respite that can be booked in advance and allows carers or family some rest whilst their loved ones are looked after in a kind, caring way.

Rose Lawn overlooks the rugby field and has a shaded seating area where you can sit and enjoy the view or even watch a game of rugby.

In the garden, residents can sit and enjoy the water features and the lovely flowers that surround the sensory garden.

Rose Lawn offers many activities from weekly Pilates sessions to caking club and flower arranging

There is a wide range of entertainers who visit each month. Each year Rose Lawn holds a Summer Party and a Christmas Party, where all family and friends are welcome.

Rose Lawn has monthly visits from Grace the therapy dog, who is happy to provide big fluffy cuddles to those that want them.

As staff don't wear name badges, I find it very impersonal as when I visit I don't know when I'm talking to residents, might also have a problem as such a change over of staff. Sometimes I feel there is also a lack of communication between staff, residents and family members. On the positive Mum is
being well looked after and cared for.

I found the home very welcoming when we visited prior to my Mum moving in (August 2018). Since then I have made many visits and find all of the staff friendly and helpful. There are many activities planned for the residents to keep their minds and bodies active. Also, the events including family members
(eg., Christmas party) have been very good. My Mum is very happy to have support when required, and her general well-being provides me with peace of mind.

Rose Lawn is beautifully decorated very clean and fresh, the carpets are unspotted and the dining room laid out tastefully and carefully. The floors are perfectly clean everywhere.
The staff are friendly and willing to serve residents in every way.
The outlook is delightful over the rugby club and
outside seating very inviting. A very well run home.

Extremely good break at Rose Lawn. Well fed, no need to suffer in silence and moan afterwards! Staff organising games, fun or quiet time if required. I was fortunate enough to be booked in over Easter, to give my daughter a rest. Being restricted over chocolate and cheese I was given a beautiful bouquet
of flowers - not to eat of course but to put in the lounge for everyone to enjoy. Thank you so much.

I am 98 and have stayed here short term twice. I have no complaints, staff always friendly and helpful. I have passed this on to anyone due to come here. It is exceptional for staff to be arranging theatre and beach outings as well as shopping in the big stores in our local town.

Extremely happy with Rose Lawn and the care my mother is receiving. Rose Lawn is warm, comfortable, safe and very inclusive. The management and all staff members are very patient and caring and nothing seems too much trouble. The staff are knowledgeable in various aspects of care for the elderly. All
residents treated with dignity and respect. Activities are excellent as are the outings. Very clean and good food and beverages.

This home is situated near a holiday resort so it has both small town and seaside in walking distance. Those of us who can move around can go around town and beach with the assistance of one of the carers. Most of us have become friends as it is a smaller residence than some. Friends and family can
come by train as well as road so we are able to have easy contact with family and friends, very important to those of us who aren't very mobile. The staff, accommodation and food is excellent. We each have our own toilet and bathroom which is very important. This is my third home due to movement, so I have comparisons.

On the 31st of August, I spent half a day with my friend who is a resident at Rose Lawn. They were having a BBQ for lunch, then entertainment after - a singer. The staff fully engaged with the residents, listening, encouraging and involving the residents in both the meal and the activities. The activities
coordinator was first class, encouraging, motivating to both staff and residents. A wonderful afternoon.

I came here in November 2017 because my mobility was failing. They have been very kind helpful and caring. The food is excellent in fact too good and I have put on two stone since I have been here. There is a lot of fattening food. There is an alarm system which works fairly well. Sometimes some of
the younger carers don't always do what they say they will and in cases like this they do not always report back to say why they did not do the request.

My mother had always been an independent woman, however, dementia meant she could no longer live alone. She chose Rose Lawn. The last month of her life were full of companionship activity and enjoyment assisted by a caring and capable staff.
My sister and I live several hours away from Sidmouth and
we were reassured that our mother was well looked after. Never was there more time than during her final illness when the staff's care, compassion and respect for my mother's dignity made her passing as peaceful as possible for both her and her family.

My mother spent her final 16 months of her 93 years in Rose Lawn. She could not have been happier or better cared for. When her dementia meant she could no longer live alone, we never imagined we could find somewhere so amazing as Rose Lawn. We will be forever grateful that she was able to stay and
be nursed in Rose Lawn during her final short illness. All the staff are fantastic. Thank you, Rose Lawn.

I came to Rose Lawn after a spell in hospital to recuperate. After 4 weeks, I decided I would prefer to stay at Rose Lawn for the foreseeable future rather than return home relying on part-time daily carers. I have not regretted that decision to date.

I found Rose Lawn very welcoming - residents friendly, meals homely. My room overlooks the garden surrounded by trees. We are provided with entertainment which is varied. Also we can go out - walk along the seafront and imagine we are on holiday. Couldn't be better.

The care provided for Mum is very thoughtful and really excellent in every way- the staff are always so very considerate and kind and respectful. It is huge for me and my whole family to be able to completely trust that Mum is being looked after by the whole staff team consistently 24/7. I always 'catch
them' doing something well and have been unable to spot any problem issues. All the staff always speak to Mum directly as a normal person - they are always 'present' with the residents. Even when the staff don't know you can hear them they are always lovely with Mum and other residents. The team are very patient when Mum is forgetful as she increasingly is.
I speak to Mum at least once a day on her private room phone and she regularly makes a grateful and appreciative remark about the staff or the care - this is high praise indeed from a lady who is not afraid to say it like it is if things are not up to scratch. Well done Rose Lawn and all who make it what it is - excellent. Thank you.

My mum was in Rose Lawn for 2 years.
The care they gave her was exceptional.
In my mum's last days the care staff were so caring towards her.
Sadly my mum passed away at Rose Lawn but I know mum was looked after and cared for in a wonderful way thank you Rose Lawn staff.

Rose Lawn is an excellent care home. We visited over a period of 3 days and each time staff were friendly, positive and helpful. The home is spotlessly clean and fresh smelling. I was particularly impressed with the attitude that the staff displayed when interacting with the residents. It was respectful,
warm and they responded quickly and positively to any requests.

Christina is the manager at Rose Lawn and her positive approach to any problem is known to provide a calming presence over the whole community. Christina has 13 years of experience working in the care sector and has held positions such as Night Carer and Team Leader. Her biggest achievement would be completing her NVQ in Health and Social Care. In her free time, Christina enjoys taking her dog, Mambo on walks and attending concerts.

Kathryn

Kathryn Light

Job Title: Community Coordinator Joined: 2017

Kathryn is in charge of the activity programme at Rose Lawn, as well as social media. She has worked in the care industry for over 15 years, and in every department from Team Leader to Kitchen Assistant. Whilst Kathryn has an NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care, her biggest achievement was being able to support one of the Rose Lawn residents to visit Kew Gardens in London. In her spare time, Kathryn enjoys video gaming and spending time with her boyfriend and dog, Zelda.
