Romans Care Home

Mum has been at Romans nearly 5 years and is still happy and content there. Several weeks ago, Mum became seriously ill but did not want to go into hospital. The Staff/Carers looked after her beyond their remit, and had the patience of Saints! Mum has now made a significant recovery, and the staff continue
to encourage and support her. They are so kind and friendly and treat her with respect and dignity.
Mum is mostly happy with the food and hopefully will enjoy participating in the quizzes again soon, as well as the Church visits and communion service. The regular residents' meeting, to discuss and iron out any issues and generate ideas from the residents, is a very positive aspect. We are so grateful that Mum feels she is in her 'home from home'.
Reply from Sarah Mainwaring, Manager at Romans Care HomeThank you for the feedback. With so many changes in care now, carers are going above and beyond and pleased that the staff have been acknowledged for this.

Words cannot explain the care love and dedication that every resident in this care home is given it goes above and beyond and they care and love like every resident to the maximum

Not only that they also care and give love to residents family during tough times. The special bond I have made with

the manager Andrea and the careers and activity coordinators over the last 2 years since my mum has been there has given me so much comfort and warmth in hard times.

No words can express how grateful I am to all staff at Alexander House xx

I have always been very happy with the care and assistance that has been given to my mother, always been treated with dignity. Recently, my mother celebrated her 100th birthday. I said I would come up early before the family fathering and get mum ready. When I arrived, she looked amazing, all dressed
up, hair done and wearing a tiara and sash. 14 of us celebrated with a beautiful cake and some fizz (non alcoholic) for mum and the drivers. The sun shone, photos taken, and a great day was had by all. The best bit of the day was the card from the King and Queen. These people who care are all worth their weight in gold. Fair Havens is the best. Well done to Tracey and all the staff.
Reply from Tracey Halley, Manager at Fair Havens Care CommunityWe are always pleased to hear when families are happy with their parents care, and we enjoy celebrating their milestones along with their families and friends. I will ensure that your gratitude is passed on to the carers as they do a good job .

Mum went into the Romans for respite care . She was afraid of being alone at night , she had lost the will for self care and was eating little . Her mental state was awful and she felt she had no reason to continue living .
Since her stay ( now almost 2 months ) she has regained some confidence, is
eating well and has made friends . The difference is amazing.
I see happy staff and a clean environment, I see enriched living with visiting churches and activities .
She wants to stay now . Thank you

My sister became a resident of Fair Havens in July 2024. I visit her regularly and have always found that the staff are kind and caring. Her dementia has increaded needing extra care, and she is now bedridden. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. I am thankful that I chose Fair Havens for my sister's
care.

Mum is very happy here, The staff are all fantastic, friendly and helpful, always have time to say hello and for a quick chat. The home is well appointed and well maintained inside and out, always clean and tidy and fresh. There are a good range of events for the residents, family and friends are welcome.
The food is very good, particularly their summer barbeques! I would not hesitate to recommend the Romans.

Our family have witnessed a huge improvement in mum's general wellbeing since she has been in the care of the wonderful team at Romans. She enjoys the quality of the food and participates in quizzes and other events. The staff know her well and are always helpful, fun and encouraging. She loves going
out in the garden in the summer.
Most importantly for us, we know that mum is safe and cared for in the best place she could be.

Dad is settled and his needs ate taken care of. I feel happy knowing he is safe and content. He likes the company, entertainment, church services and food. His room is warm, bright and comfortable. The staff are helpful, caring and friendly. On the negative side, sometimes his clothes go missing in
the laundry and he ends up with someone elses', but he doesnt seem to mind and sometimes we are late to hear news eg if he's had a fall or if he's given medication but this is not an issue to be raised. Overall we are happy.

Erith House cared for my Dad over his last few challenging years and are still caring for my Mum. Both joined the community during Covid lockdowns, which was far from ideal timing, but the staff made the transition feel safe and welcoming. Since restrictions have eased I've been able to see much more
of the care and attention the team give to each resident. They have coped brilliantly with the ups and downs of life, including my Dad's passing a year ago, and make Mum feel loved and at home in Erith House. The team works well together, performing their different roles efficiently, effectively and (importantly) giving time to each resident according to their needs. As she approaches 100 it's very good to know that Mum is content and well cared-for. A big thank you to all the team.

In June/June last year my father had a nasty fall and damaged his hip, that followed by mental health problems in hospital meant a massive life change for my previously independent dad. The staff and management of Erith enveloped him and us in their care. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Without
exception the staff are patient, personable, empathic, caring and best of all they listen to their residents. They treat them with respect. My dad is the healthiest he has been since my mum passed and his days are filled with laughter.

My aunt has been living at this aged care home for nearly four years, and our family has been consistently impressed with the quality of care and the warmth of the staff. One of the standout aspects is their excellent staff retention - many of the same caring faces have been there since she moved in,
which provides real comfort and continuity. The home itself is always clean, well maintained, and surrounded by lovely gardens that create a peaceful atmosphere. The staff are genuinely attentive, taking the time to know each resident and making sure their individual needs are met with compassion. There's also a great range of activities on offer, ensuring that everyone has opportunities to stay active, social, and engaged. It's clear that the team takes pride in creating not just a safe environment, but a true sense of community. We feel very lucky that my aunt calls this place home.
