Overall Experience

My sister has been at Fair Havens since June 2024. She has dementia and advanced arthritis of the spine, unfortuantely due to reduced mobility and blindness she is now bedridden. She needs much care to meet her current condition and I am thankful that I chose this care community as the care provided is exemplary. On my frequent visits I am impressed with all aspects of the support my sister receives. All the staff are friendly and show great concern for her wellbeing. My sister is treated with concern and with dignity and there is always a willingness to engage in conversation with her despite her dementia.

I have always been very happy with the care and assistance that has been given to my mother, always been treated with dignity. Recently, my mother celebrated her 100th birthday. I said I would come up early before the family fathering and get mum ready. When I arrived, she looked amazing, all dressed up, hair done and wearing a tiara and sash. 14 of us celebrated with a beautiful cake and some fizz (non alcoholic) for mum and the drivers. The sun shone, photos taken, and a great day was had by all. The best bit of the day was the card from the King and Queen. These people who care are all worth their weight in gold. Fair Havens is the best. Well done to Tracey and all the staff.

My father has lived at Fair Havens for a month now, and he has settled in very quickly and is thriving well and is very happy there. All of the staff are fantastic, they are very kind and caring and are also highly professional in their procedures for caring for their residents. Residents are encouraged to be independent where possible, and support is given when needed. Family members and visitors are always welcome to visit. We could not have chosen a better care home for my father.

I had been my mums main carer for 15 months and could no longer do it. I was very worried about her going into a home. She has been in Fair Havens for 10 months now and I needn't have worried. Everyone is very caring, nothing is too much trouble. As soon as you walk in you are warmly welcomed and it has a really peaceful and friendly atmosphere. I can't thank all the staff and management enough for looking after my mum. I can now be her daughter again and not her carer. Thank you.

The home provides a safe, caring environment for my mother. She is treated with dignity, thoughtfulness and humour, all of which she, and we, are most appreciative of. Despite their heavy workload, the staff always seem to have time to chat and engage with her. They are aware of her interests and chat about them. When required, they have dealt with her medical needs with professionalism and understanding, allaying her fears and keeping us informed. There is always a happy and relaxed atmosphere whenever we regularly visit.

While at the home, mum has received very professional care, both for her physical and mental well-being. Staff are very friendly and have established positive relationships with mum and all of our family. They have supported mum and us with any decisions we have had to make, including those with outside agencies. They regularly organise events to celebrate birthdays etc, where we are all invited. A very friendly and welcoming home. We would and have recommended the home. It is the second time we have had a family member at the home.

Since my mother-in-law entered care at Fairhaven the staff have been excellent. She has Alzheimer’s and although she showed some challenging behaviour in the initial days they have worked very hard to settle her. Nothing was too much trouble and the manager has been very patient with us as well. We looked at several places for her but the manager sold us on Fairhaven by virtue of her enthusiasm and caring nature. We knew we had made the right decision after just a few weeks.

My mother spent two months in hospital following a fall which resulted in a broken arm. She now has limited functions she can carry out. It was finally agreed that she would go to Fair Havens Care Community. She had always had a fear of going into care but she is now so happy there and like a new person. The staff are so caring and attentive.

My dad moved into the home a month ago and has settled well after a few initial days of disorientation. The staff helped get him settled and were really kind and understanding with him. The staff are patient and caring with the residents and very helpful and friendly when I visit.
