My mother used to be a resident at Sainthill; their care was amazing. So glad my mother spent her last few years at Sainthill. Nothing was too much trouble. They go above and beyond. Would recommend them 100%.

I am happy with the care and attention that is shown towards m sister. More importantly, she is very happy at the cottage. More one to one with her would help her.
Reply from Penny Chudley, Manager at Sainthill HouseThank you, Keith, for your comments. I appreciate that your sister has not been accessing the community with support as much as we would like, this is due to the pandemic and the restrictions, but we are now able to support her back out into the community safely twice a week, and we are actively advertising for a full-time activities person in the cottage, which will provide more one to one time for all the clients living in the cottage.

Arriving for respite - a warm welcoming awaited me from friendly staff and fresh flowers in my room. Every attempt was made to make sure my diet was appropriate to my needs, and I am enjoying the varied food provided. Very comfortable - "non-institutional atmosphere".

My mother has been a resident at Sainthill House since spring 2019. She has a diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia, which means she has server hallucinations. The staff have always treated her with kindness, dignity and respect throughout this awful illness. She has been treated as a family member, and nothing
has ever been too much trouble. I cannot thank them enough.

My dad is very happy at Sainthill House and that means an awful lot to me and my family. Nothing is too much trouble and any medical problems have been dealt with in a professional way involving my thoughts on each step of the process. Again thanking all staff and especially the manager for making my
dad feel at home.

I have now been a volunteer at Sainthill House for the past year and in that time I have come to realise the true commitment that the staff and management give to all the residents of Sainthill. The care given is superb, if the need arises, I would not hesitate in recommending Sainthill as a perfect
residential and care home for those in need of care.

I came to this care home after the death of my wife and the sale of my house 3 years ago. There were many changes for the better between management, staff and visitors. Residents are happier. Meals are prepared by competent staff. There are no complaints and illnesses are treated by outside professionals
quickly and entertainment is for all living here. A lady hairdresser is here weekly and life here is a variety.

I am well cared for but without losing my independence. The good generally is very good and my appetite has increased. I have a good social life here and have made many friends. We always go on an outing once a week which is very enjoyable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I am offered various
activities if I wish to join in. I have a lovely room overlooking the garden so I can watch the changing seasons.

Since my mum has been in Sainthill I have seen a marked improvement in her well-being. She is more socially active and eats much better that at home. The staff are wonderful and caring but without making mum feel that she is losing her independence. They encourage her to join in activities and she helps
out with the washing up and ironing. I am able to relax in the knowledge that she is receiving the best care possible.

Colin has been in Sainthill for 6 months. I chose it because it's small. It has exceeded my expectations in every aspect. All staff dedicated, caring, kind and considerate without exception. Everywhere is always clean and tidy. At times I have meals with my partner, all is well served and hot enjoyed
by all. Staff willing to adjust when asked, Willing to please everyone likes and dislikes. Sainthill is a proper family where by everyone cares. All family attached are made welcome and supported. Then door is always open for discussion if problems do arise. Never seen anyone upset or uncertain. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sainthill. I'm well satisfied with my decision.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.597)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.597) out of 10 for Sainthill House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.947 for Sainthill House is calculated as follows: ( (89 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.947
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.65 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sainthill House is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.65
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 23 registered maximum number of service users is 4.6, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I began my career in banking before pursuing a career in Health and Social Care when my children were young. During this time, I achieved an HNC Level 4 qualification and started my first role supporting individuals with direct payments to recruit and manage their own care packages, enabling them to live independently in their own homes.

In 2005, I began working with people with learning disabilities and have since progressed through a variety of roles within the sector. Along the way, I achieved both an NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care and an NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management, building extensive experience in supporting individuals, leading teams, and delivering high-quality care services.

I am passionate about developing and supporting teams to provide outstanding person-centred care and ensuring residents enjoy the very best experiences possible. I strongly believe in working in partnership with relatives, colleagues, and healthcare professionals to deliver a truly holistic approach to care.

Although I am relatively new to Sainthill, I hope to bring a broad range of knowledge, experience, and fresh perspectives to the team—always with a smile and a positive attitude.

What I enjoy most about my role is supporting residents to achieve things they never thought possible. Seeing their confidence grow and being part of those achievements is incredibly rewarding and is what makes my role so fulfilling.

Job Title: Senior Night Support Worker Joined: 2023

I am a Senior Night Carer with an NVQ Level 3 qualification and three years of experience in the care sector. Before moving into care, I spent 13 years as a qualified Geography teacher. While I thoroughly enjoyed teaching, I was looking for a new challenge and an opportunity to work with people on a more personal level.

I chose a career in care because I felt I had more to offer in helping people feel valued, appreciated, and genuinely cared for. Supporting residents and making a positive difference to their daily lives is incredibly rewarding and gives me a real sense of purpose.

I am naturally caring, compassionate, and approachable, with a positive outlook on life. I am always smiling and enjoy being around genuine people in a supportive and uplifting environment. Building meaningful relationships with residents and ensuring they feel respected, safe, and loved is at the heart of everything I do.

I am originally from the Philippines, where I graduated as a Teacher. After moving to the UK, I chose a career in care because looking after older people is something that is deeply valued within my culture, and I have always been passionate about supporting others.

I hold an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care and a QCF Level 3 qualification, and I have worked in the care sector for over 20 years. Throughout my career, I have gained a wealth of experience and progressed into management roles, becoming part of the leadership team in my previous position.

I am hardworking, dedicated, reliable, caring, and empathetic, and I believe strongly in the importance of teamwork to provide the highest standards of care. I have also worked with people with learning disabilities, which is an area of care I particularly enjoy and find very rewarding.

I am passionate about making a positive difference to people's lives and take pride in ensuring those I support feel valued, respected, and cared for every day.
