Mum and Dad were admitted to Thornfield Care Home for respite following several hospital admissions. I cannot begin to express how amazing the staff have been during their time there. I feel that they could not have been better placed and I love the fact I am updated with anything I need to be. Unfortunately, my father had a stroke during this period and the staff went above and beyond to help us all through this very difficult period. A credit to the Cannon Group could not be happier that my parents were so well supported.
All the staff are obliging and caring.
The level of activities is really good.
All in all the patients are well looked after and always clean.
Thornfield is a lovely home, well run, with caring dedicated and professional staff who are always happy to go that extra mile.
The home is always clean and bright, with a wonderful range of activities and excellent food.
We know my mother receives excellent care and support.
They have done a lot of work in the last 18 months, improving the building and re-decorating rooms etc.
I wouldn't want my mum to be anywhere else!
The upbeat music and the bright colours create an atmosphere like no other.
The friendly faces (staff as well as the residents) makes Thornfield a pleasurable, relaxed and enjoyable location to be.
It is a home away from home.
The home is always clean, bright, well staffed and well maintained.
All the public areas are decorated in bright (but not too bright) colours and lots of pictures relevant to the residents (old movie stars, old advertising etc.).
The staff seem to care about the residents' welfare and they are all treated with respect.
One thing that stands out for me compared to other homes that I know of is the number of activities - apart from Sundays there is an activity (or 2) every day.
Oh - I mustn't forget the food - I've only sampled the cakes and they're fantastic but Dad loves the puddings - they do look good! - it's fortunate that some of my visits to see Dad coincide with afternoon tea time!
Excellent care for my aunt who has been in Thornfield Care Home for 4 and half years and I cannot fault anything. They keep me informed about her and I can rest assured she is in good hands.
Choosing a care home is both challenging and emotional. My Sister and I agonised over the whole process. We looked at the CQC reports, listened to personal recommendations etc. From the moment of our first contact with Thornfield Care Home, we were met with genuine friendliness, compassion and understanding. With their amazing help, my Brother-in-Law's move from his home was seamless and he is settling well into his new environment. The hardest part can often be for the family of the person with Dementia but here again, Thornfield scored highly, they care for us all.
My mum was resisting care, however as soon as she entered Thornfield she is so happy - a changed woman in fact. I couldn't fault the care provided. Mum has a new lease of life and all problematic behaviour has disappeared as has her stress. The home is full of love and laughter and activities abound with an emphasis on music, which all enjoy.
I have visited other residential care homes and this is by far the best.
Lovely big garden to sit and relax in the sunshine. Good choice of rooms even one with a nice bar inside which a lot of residents seem to use.
Location wise it is 2 minutes away from seaside which I found to be excellent and very relaxing to when taking my mother out for the day.
I have been very satisfied with the overall care my sister has received.
I cannot speak too highly of this care home. They are very professional in every way. The staff are committed to their roles and I am only too pleased my wife is living there.
There is a wide range of activities and entertainment. The food is top-notch. Everyone is most helpful.
My husband has settled in beautifully at the home because of the staff's professional attitude and kindness, everything printed in their brochure is exactly as stated and all the family are very happy with these arrangements.
Management have been very supportive and have kept us informed throughout. I would not hesitate recommending Thornfield's to anyone.
The environment is so beautiful, stimulating and relaxing. Staff are always cheerful, smiling and approachable, a real buzz there!
Nothing is too much trouble, even down to encouraging us to provide whatever we felt would provide as close to home from home experience for mother's room.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO THEM ALL.
When possible they take him out in the bus.
I hope he can stay there.
My husband was admitted to Thornfield directly from Sidmouth community hospital. The day of admission was his birthday and when he arrived in his room he was greeted by the manager and three staff and given a lovely Birthday cake which he was thrilled by. I have visited several times each week since and have been delighted with the care and consideration shown to all of the residents. Extremely warm and friendly staff and most efficient caring shown to residents and visitors.
The staff and management combine dedication, attention to detail and the utmost professional standards with relaxed, informal person-centred atmosphere.
It is of no surprise to me that it has already achieved recognition for its outstanding work and I can only echo this and recommend in the most glowing terms.
The staff are always friendly, caring and attentive. The activities and support for residents are many and varied.
It is indeed, a home from home.
