It's hard to lose a love one, when there taken into care.
My Louisa was a loved one & we made a special pair. Mental circumstances brought about our plight, but Lou, thats what I call her, will continue with the fight. After 2 1/2, at Beechmount, with visits every week. I feel I am in the position to make a fair assesment, so please read ratings

My mum has been a resident of Beechmount for about 18 months and has always received good care. The staff are always available and caring. She seems happy and always joins in with the activities. Overall we find the home and staff suits mums needs very well.

Everyone at Beechmount have always been exceptionally caring and helpful. My father has felt happy and comfortable there from day one. I know he's safe and well. It is a great comfort to me to know that he is warm, clean, well fed and looked after.

Generally I think the care provided to my mother at Beechmount is very good. She is in the advanced stages of dementia and her health and cognition are now very poor. She is kept warm and the staff get her up in the morning and put her in her chair. Unfortunately, she is past the stage of being able to benefit from joining the other residents but she does spend a lot of hours alone in her room although I don't think that she'd probably benefit from more time being spent with her as she doesn't seem to recognise anyone and has no meaningful speech. It's difficult to know whether more interaction would be of any use. Sometimes she and her surroundings (her chair, the carpet) seem a bit messy and grubby but again this is tricky for the staff to manage given her lack of cognition and control.

Doing more activities for the residents which have increased for past 2 months. Majority of staff friendly and helpful. residents seem to enjoy the food that they are given and are given a choice of what they would like on the day.

I have been visiting my mum at Beechmount Care Home since her admission over 18 months ago.
She has received excellent personal care in my experience and has settled in well. I was pleased when a down stairs bedroom became available which appropriately meets her needs. She has expressed feeling safe and comfortable living at the home and no longer feels lonely.
Mum enjoys her food which is home cooked and with choice. There are always snacks and hot drinks available.
Improvements are in progress both regarding interior decorating and the garden area.
The staff are helpful and attentive and there is good staff retention which provides better continuity of care and a friendly family atmosphere. I always feel able to share any concerns and receive good communication by phone or email.

There are activities and entertainment for the residents and visitors are welcome to participate.

My mother has been in this care home for 5 weeks after a fall at home and hospital admission.
She was always adamant that she did not want to go into a care home !
The first week she was unsure, BUT these last 3 weeks she settled and is very content
All her personal needs are met
She is receiving hot meals & snacks throughout the day
The staff are fantastic!

She is cheeky to them and can be challenging but they genuinely love her which for a family is lovely to hear

My dad was in hospital and needed to go into respite care placement.

Mum was already in Beechmount, the manager held a room for dad so they could be together. Sadly, dad's health went downhill very quickly as he had congestive heart failure, within a few weeks of him being in Beechmount, the doctor said he only had a couple of weeks to live. He was soon in bed 100% of the time, we stayed with him. We were all treated with compassion and respect throughout. Drinks and food were constantly being brought up to us. All the staff were so kind, going above the expected standards, coming to chat and becoming friends with us in a difficult situation. Dad was so at peace with everyone, he was arranging for me to organise a coach to take the staff to Ireland on holiday. This gave him a great deal of pleasure in his last days as dad said "They have done so much for us all, it would be good to do something nice in return". Dad didn't know he was dying, he kept saying "I hope we can go, it will be such fun".

First, I have to say that writing a review for Beechmount is akin to writing a review about a family member because, in effect, they have become an extension of family and we are all in this together.
Mum's (mother-in-law actually) dementia became acute enough that the council determined she was a risk to Dad (father-in-law actually). Beechmount took Mum in, dispelling her fears and often confused anxieties with loving assurance.
When Dad's (father-in-law actually) health rapidly deteriorated to the point of needing care, Beechmont graciously made room for him. And whilst he needed to stay in a separate room (due to Mum's complications) Beechmount's staff made his last days incredibly positive and when he passed away, much like family, we all felt his loss.

Mum still resides there and whether it's sadness, confusion, tidying or just moments in need of a smile and a hug, love and respect are abundant amongst the staff in Beechmount Care Home. My wife and I are incredibly grateful for them.

My brother has been at Beechmount Care Home for over three years, I can honestly say it is the best care home and he is so very well cared for, I can tell he is so happy there.
All of the staff are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble, they really do go above and beyond their duties and are like an extended part of the family.
I have recommended this home to friends and they are very happy too.
I can honestly say there is nothing that I would change, it is the most happy place and I can see all the residents that live there are happy and cared for when I visit my brother.

The staff really are all angels without wings and work so very hard.

Beechmount is a really lovely home and has been a great comfort to our family during a very difficult time. The manager has created a real family atmosphere and together with her team of exceptional carers, cooks, cleaners and admin staff, has made very challenging situations bearable. The meals are frequent and generous and cater beautifully to the tastes of the elderly with lots of sweet treats and endless teas and coffees and biscuits. Their kindness to the residents also extends to family members who have been welcomed at all times with such warmth and friendliness.

Beechmount is a warm, friendly home where all the staff work over for all the residents, take time to talk to them and make sure they are warm and fed.

Everyone is clean and fresh, and the home smells of good cooking. If my husband can't be with me at home, then this is a good substitute.

This care home has put our minds at rest because of having to put our mum into care.

This is a family setting which has been thoughtfully put together for the best quality of life and care of the residents. I would definitely recommend this care home to others who want the best care for their relatives. Many thanks and love to all.

Beechmount is an absolutely incredible care home, I cannot fault them what so ever. The way they looked after my Grandpa made him feel so welcome at one of the hardest times in his life, the way they listened to his every need made him feel happy and safe right until the very end. I cannot thank the staff enough especially your manager he is the most hardworking organised person I know my Grandpa loved him, and because of that Beechmount is like a family to me to the point we are moving my Grandma there.

Beechmount is the best care home I have come across and I've seen quite a few in the Torbay area. Beechmount looked after my precious Dad until he passed away. He was always treated amazingly, everybody loved him, and the staff especially the manager spent a lot of time talking to him and making him feel welcome. My Dad was very happy here, so much so I am moving my Mum in soon as she is unhappy in her home. I know she will love it here.
