Mum sadly had to go in to a care home in December 2025. What a tough decision of where to take her to live. Such a difficult time for all of us but especially mum who wasn't able to make any decisions for herself. So much pressure for us as a family to make the right choices. Cornerways have been amazing.
Helping us all to make this huge transition. The communication has been fantastic. Their care for mum amazing. And they are doing their best to make us all feel at home as much as is possible during this difficult time. A massive thank you to you all. I would definitely recommend this caring home and amazing staff to anyone looking for a care home. Especially for those with levels of dementia that means they sadly aren't safe to be in their own home. Thank you.
Reply from Louise Arnold, Managing Director at CornerwaysThank you so much for your positive review of Cornerways. We know how hard and emotional the decision is and strive to support. Thank you

My wife has been a resident for 9 months during 2025. During her stay the condition has deteriorated but the care she has received has been excellent. The carers have always treated her with dignity, courtesy, compassion, patience and with great professionalism sometimes during extreme stressful events.
Whenever
I have had to discuss my concerns about my wife's health and the treatment prescribed by the medical professionals the staff at Cornerways have always been available to provide answers and help to understand the issues.
Access.to Cornerways is available for families 24 / 7 and visitors are always made to feel very welcome. Visitors are always offered beverages and snacks during the regular rounds by the carers for the residents.
Family members can join their relatives for meals.
The bedroom and en-suit are always clean and well managed.
There are various daily activities for the residents.and periodically there are trips by coach to outside activities.
Reply from Louise Arnold, Managing Director at CornerwaysThank you so much for sharing your experience of Cornerways. The whole team appreciates the feedback and it helps those looking for a home.

When it was a significant birthday for relative, a cake was made and all the family were welcomed to visit. We were offered tea. The staff went out of their way to make it special.
As a family we are happy with the care she receives and will be informed promptly if there is a concern ie medical. There
are always lots of activities going on for the residents and they have a hairdressers. I would recommend this home.

I never thought that my husband would settle at a carehome but I am so pleased that he has. He is really happy at Cornerways. I like the fact that it is a large care home as there is always something happening and there are a lot of different staff to help the residents and chat to them.
Everyone
at Cornerways is kind, caring and understanding at all levels. Nothing is too much trouble. I visit a couple of times a week and the staff are really kind. Even other visitors are chatty with both me and my husband. There is always a lovely feel to the care home. which is why I chose Cornerways.
Reply from Louise Arnold, Managing Director at CornerwaysThank you so much for the review. We understand what a difficult decision it is but always strive to provide exceptional care and ease the decision.

The care is outstanding that my mother-in-law is receiving. She can have some very challenging behaviour and they are doing everything they can to try and help her.
The staff are attentive and patient and keep us informed of mum-in-laws care. There is a nice atmosphere in the home and the staff are
very friendly. They take the residents for a day out once a month, which is lovely for them, and have activities and events at the home.

We visited my sister today for the first time at Cornerways. Much to my delight she was more motivated and knew who I was even though we had not seen her sine before COVID approximately 3 years ago, at which time she apparently didn't seem to recognise me. We were so pleased to find how much better
she was. Thank you for looking after her so well.

My husband has been a resident in Cornerways since January 2024, the care from all the staff he has received has been excellent, it hasn’t been an easy journey for him or myself
Whenever I ring to check on how he is doing whoever answers is always kind and never too busy to tell me how he has been.
The home always tries to learn as much as possible about the residents their likes and dislikes and interests, my husband tells me about the meals he has had and seems to enjoy them. It means a lot knowing he is being very well cared for every day.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.820)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.820) out of 10 for Cornerways is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.820 for Cornerways is calculated as follows: ( (194 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 233 Ratings = 4.82
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cornerways is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Interim Home Manager

I joined Cornerways as a Night Senior, bringing over 10 years of NHS experience from various hospital wards. When COVID turned the world upside down, I moved to day shifts and gradually worked my way through several roles to where I am today.

Cornerways genuinely feels like my second home. I feel incredibly lucky to lead such a brilliant team and care for our lovely residents—each one with their own stories, quirks, and ability to make me laugh every single day.

When not at work, I am married with three brilliant children and grandchildren whom I adore.
