Cornerways is close to Preston Sands seafront in Paignton. The home is arranged over three floors with a number of different spacious and light day rooms on the ground floor. The residents enjoy many activities including cooking within their own kitchen. It has a lovely patio although also likes to take advantage of its proximity to the beach with its own beach hut.

The care for myself and my husband is amazing. I came away with very helpful information (peace of mind) knowing my husband is in safe hands.

The staff at Cornerways Care Home treat my dad with so much respect and kindness. We feel he is safe and well cared for. He enjoys having the company of the staff and other residents and they often ask him if there is anything they can do or supply to enable him to fulfil his interests. My dad said
he couldn't fault the food. His life is more fulfilled and knowing he has someone around 24/7 is very reassuring for our family.

Since Dad moved into Cornerways Care Home he has had nothing but the best of care. The staff are extremely attentive and I think this shows in their excellent management of the Covid-19 pandemic. Dad has always liked his food and Cornerways does not disappoint!

My father was resident from Sept 2017 until his death at 97 on 23/6/19. It was the fir4st home we visited - and it was head and shoulders above others we saw. The home is very clean and all the staff knowledgeable, extremely caring and experienced in dealing with dementia. It is a true home from home.
We were able to visit whenever we wanted and always made welcome and offered cups of tea. All the food is homemade and beautiful. They supported my father and us to his last breath. I could not recommend them more.

I found Cornerways to be caring, considerate of residents personal and psychological needs. High standards of professional behaviour from all members of staff. Very impressed with the standard of care given to residents. Visitors were always greeted politely and treated with respect, as were the residents.

My mother in law spent the last six months in Cornerways and she couldn't have been happier. The care she received was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble and she was treated with dignity and respect at all times. The staff always found time to make sure us as a family visiting felt happy and
relaxed. When we couldn't visit, as we don't live close, they were always happy to receive a phone call to reassure us all was well.
Every weekday they have a variety of entertainment/activities to help keep their minds and bodies active with fine motor skills games etc.
We as a family can't thank the staff enough for their support and compassion shown not only to us but to our mother when she was at the end of her journey.

My husband was well cared for and was happy despite the dementia. The staff I came into contact with were great to both him and me - even to the end. The night duty staff were amazing.


Staffing issues were a problem but that is endemic in the sector.

The care my father has received during this time has been exemplary. I have met at least fifteen members of staff and all of them have shown a sensitively and affection that goes beyond what I expected. I have shared a room with my father for a week given his terminal condition and have been overwhelmed
by the care and attention I've received also! The only problem is the labyrinth in a building which has been adapted for purpose but the carers more than make up for any inconvenience caused by that.

My father was very old (101) and he had excellent care. I live in Birmingham so my visits were not as frequent as I would have wished but every time I met with dad I was really impressed with the care there. I would not hesitate to recommend Cornerways because of these high standards in all fields of

Having observed the workings of Cornerways over a period of 3 months I have been amazed at the dedication of all levels of staff. There is an ethos, that flows from top to bottom and bottom to top, but always centred on resident satisfaction. How the staff maintain their cheery disposition in face of
all they have to deal with is beyond me.


My Mother is always well dressed and well-looked after. Her room is clean and tidy and well equipped with the aids necessary for her safety and well being. Her laundry is done on a regular basis and attention is paid to such as her hair, nails and chiropody. Medication is handled and a Doctor called whenever required. Mother is well fed and happy and assisted with her mobility. Residents are monitored on a regular basis and guests are catered for without any problem.


Cornerways is a nice location and residents are treated to music acts, trips out various daytime activities to keep them stimulated both mentally and physically.

My aunt moved into Cornerways in March 2017. She has been well looked after and treated with much kindness and respect.
I visit the home frequently and am always impressed by the cleanliness and high standard of care given to the residents.
The meals are well presented with a choice of dishes and
the food always looks inviting.
It is a great relief to me to know that my aunt is staying in such a well run home with such dedicated staff.

I'm very pleased how my dad has settled in, it is very friendly home and the staff are all willing to help at all times. It is also very nice to see the staff on hand if you need help There is always activities going on in the afternoon which they Can do or just watch. My dad is a very friendly and
sociable person and they seem to be able to get that out of him. It is just nice to know that the person who you love very much is well looked after. Cornerways is always very clean and tidy. My mother has been a resident of a number of care homes in the Torbay area. This has been by far the best one out of them all. The staff are always cheerful and work very hard to make sure the needs of the residents are their number one priority. There are all sorts of activities going on throughout
the day: quizzes, play your cards right, softball, bowling, etc. The meals are excellent and freshly cooked by the onsite chef and dietary needs are catered for on an individual basis. The dining room and living room areas are all nicely decorated with comfortable seating. There is a small garden area (quite quirky), for the residents to look out on or get access to via a staff member. The care home is very safe as all entrances and exits have to be facilitated by a member of staff. I would highly recommend Cornerways to any relative that wants the very best of care for their family member.

My family have always found Cornerways to be a caring, comfortable home for our mother who suffers from dementia and is partly bed-bound. The staff are always caring and attentive and manage to find time to talk to us when visiting, and to keep us informed as to any health matters and care issues.

Job Title: Interim Home Manager

I joined Cornerways as a Night Senior, bringing over 10 years of NHS experience from various hospital wards. When COVID turned the world upside down, I moved to day shifts and gradually worked my way through several roles to where I am today.


Cornerways genuinely feels like my second home. I feel incredibly lucky to lead such a brilliant team and care for our lovely residents—each one with their own stories, quirks, and ability to make me laugh every single day.


When not at work, I am married with three brilliant children and grandchildren whom I adore.
