Mum has recently moved to the home, on arrival she was treated with kindness and care and is settling in well. The staff have been approachable and have dealt with any questions we have in a very kind manner. A lovely home for Mum to be in.

The care provided at The Hyde is fantastic, all the staff go way beyond being a carer it is family. Both my brother and I travel 130 miles to see mum and would not even consider moving her nearer to us.

The staff were exceptionally helpful and provided a level of support and care that demonstrated their genuine love for our relative. As well as being professional and diligent in their care towards our relative, it was all the "small things" that made it a special level of care eg. favourite music, belongings, pictures etc to ensure our relative felt special and was comforted during a difficult time.

The Hyde provided wonderful care to Mum over the years. They assessed what the hospital thought was an invalid needing palliative care in September 2016, got her walking again, appreciating food, leisure and love.
The thoughtfulness of the staff in recent days, leading up to Mum's passing, has been wonderful. We're glad Mum was at home (after hospital visit) and so was she. They enabled her to feel confident and peaceful.

The staff always ensured that mum was loved.

Owing to the Covid restrictions, it isn't possible to comment on all the categories. My sister has been in They Hyde since October 29th 2020 and I have never been into her room. She has gradually settled in and seems at home. She certainly looks very well, thanks to regular meals. However, she feels the quality of the food could be improved, also variety.

Reply from Diane Kerwin, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at The Hyde Care Home

Many thanks for writing a review. Thank you for your very positive comments about how your sister has settled into The Hyde, and that she feels “at home”. This is so important to us, we do try to provide a “home from home” atmosphere and experience for the people who live with us, so thank you. We...

My sister was suffering from dementia while she was staying at the Hyde, she had a series of strokes the last one making her bed-bound, from which she died. The care that your staff gave her was excellent. They were compassionate, caring and very kind. They are a credit to one and all.

During lockdown, the staff have been helping us keep in touch with family and friends in the Hyde using Zooms, photographs and updates. The residents are treated with great kindness and care. The staff at the Hyde put care at the forefront.

My lovely Mum has been a resident of the Hyde for the past three and a half years. I cannot praise them highly enough. Mum was welcomed like family and was cherished just as if she had been the granddaughter of the staff. Mum was very fond of her care worker who she called her best friend and I as a visitor was also treated like family. Everyone from the gardener to the maintenance man to the housekeeping staff, the kitchen staff, the care team and the office folk, were all without fail kind and courteous and helpful. Mum had a wonderful sense of humour and at the Hyde this was warmly welcomed and I loved to hear Mum laughing with staff and residents alike. The pets at the home and the chickens made it feel like a home from home and the wonderful country views and fabulous gardens were always a joy. Perfect for my lovely Mum, who was very happy there and now that Mum has passed away, I hope to maintain a link with my friends there and want them to know how grateful I am.

The Hyde is a wonderful and caring home for the elderly. It is in the most beautiful setting and all the staff and carers are so kind and thoughtful. My mother has been a resident here for nearly two years during which time she has had a few major health scares which have been dealt with brilliantly by all concerned. I can’t think of anywhere else I would want her to be for the rest of her life.

I don't get to visit as much as I'd like to whenever I do, it's an amazing, caring, friendly and beautiful home. My friend is very very happy and does more now that she ever did at home. The activities and the love shown to residents is fantastic.

Family and friends are welcomed for tea and meals. Lovely care home.

No comment. Too many "repeats" on the menu. Could do better.

The staff are all lovely and they make my Dad's stay enjoyable. The meals could be slightly bigger, not all elderly have a small appetite! The rooms are nice and big with a good size wetroom en-suite.

Introducing Rebecca Dawe

Home Manager at The Hyde, Bridport

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?

“Empathy, dignity and wellbeing.”

As a dedicated healthcare professional, Rebecca has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.

Rebecca closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She decided to work in the care sector because, as a young child, she helped her grandmother care for children with learning difficulties; this gave her a passion to improve the lives of others.

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Rebecca remarked:

“Working in an amazing team who are dedicated in providing the highest levels of care.”

Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family, including her sons, and she also enjoys travelling. She counts herself very lucky that she was able to go traveling to East Africa and worked in two orphanages and a maternity hospital.

If you would like to find out more about The Hyde, Rebecca would be delighted to have an informal discussion with you over the phone to answer any questions and provide further information.
