Reviews

9.4 St Anne's Court has a Review Score of 9.4 (9.362)

The Review Score of 9.4 (maximum of 10) for St Anne's Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 11 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for St Anne's Court in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.362 for St Anne's Court is calculated as follows: ( (58 Excellents x 5) + (62 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 130 Ratings = 4.362

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Anne's Court is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 5.2 positive Reviews (26 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 11 Reviews ÷ 5.2 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Both my parents were residents at St Anne's Court from May 2015 to my dad's death in July 2015 and my mum's death in March 2017. During that time, I was very impressed with the way we were all treated as family by staff and management. I was especially impressed with my parents' end of life care - at a very difficult time, staff showed remarkable care and compassion. As a family, our every request was met with tenderness. I felt staff genuinely loved both my parents.

Janey Goulding, Manager at St Anne's Court responded to this review on 28 Sep 2017:

Thank you Annette for a wonderful review. It was our pleasure to care for your parents. You, your Mum and your Dad became very close to us all and became a part of our extended family at St Anne’s Court. We look forward to you visiting us again soon.

I found St Anne's to provide a friendly and safe environment where the individual needs of residents were met. Staff were friendly, considerate, kind and caring. Medical input was obtained as necessary. The end of life care provided was good and meant that the resident was able to stay in a familiar environment, rather than move to an unfamiliar nursing home or hospital setting.

My mother chose St Anne's Court on recommendation from a friend. She spent the last two years of her life there and was very happy with her choice. The staff were extremely kind to her and showed all their skills in her final months. The gold standard in end of life care is well deserved. Our family was always made very welcome at any time and we all got to know some of the new friends mum had made among the residents and joined in some of the activities. I would recommend St Anne's without reservation.

We, and more importantly my aunt had an extremely good experience at St Anne's Court where she resided for 3 weeks before coming home. Staff were very caring and even produced an amazing tea for all the family on her 90th birthday, including presents. Her room, as with the rest of the house was very clean and she enjoyed the food and company around the dining table. I would definitely recommend St Anne's Court to anyone in the future. First class.

St Anne's Court care home was a very pleasant place to be staying at.
The food was very good and plenty of it to enjoy.
The rooms were very clean and also very comfortable. In fact, it came like a second home to me. The staff and management were most kind and helpful to me.

After the hospital was unable to offer further medical treatment, my sister was offered a home at St Anne's Court. Her condition was extremely febrile and possibly we were aware we were talking end of life.
Such compassion, thoughtfulness (love even) shown to her by all members of staff is hard to imagine. She was fully aware of her surroundings and people and I know she felt secure and wanted by all. Being unable to leave her bed, every consideration was given to pressure areas and eventually unable to tolerate even fluids, concern was given to mouth care with special swabs. Pain relief was constantly received and changed if required, so consequently, she was at peace at the end of the day, thanks to the lovely staff at St Anne's Court.

Janey Goulding, Manager at St Anne's Court responded to this review on 24 Aug 2017:

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments - it was a privilege for us to be able to care for your Sister and enable her to spend her final days surrounded by the love of people that knew her and cared for her.
We are very proud of achieving Beacon Status within the Gold Standard Framework for end of life care and receiving your kind and generous feedback makes all of our hard work worthwhile.

My mum (86) fell at home in Feb 2012 and after a lifetime of being fiercely independent she lost her mobility due to a combination of arthritis in her knees and being rather overweight. I was sorry to have to encourage her to go into a home - but shouldn't have been. St Anne's Court is perfect for her. She has a lovely room and there's always a very warm welcome when I, and often my 10 yr old twins, come and visit her. Open door policy. The management share works very well and some of the staff have been there many years so they really care about their work. I think that the owner considers the residents as members of her extended family - she's genuinely caring and always warmly professional. It may sound superficial but there's no unpleasant odour in this home and excellent hygiene standards, my mum has never been ill since residing there. The fact that they achieved Gold Standard in end of life care is reassuring. Many thanks to them all.

Entering St Anne's Court, one receives the feeling that it is a home and not an institution. Staff and management are always welcoming. The dining room, in particular, is arranged in a bright, colourful manner which undoubtedly is cherry and conducive to conversation at mealtimes.
At one point in my life, I was a pensioner visitor and found the layout of chairs making the room depressing but St Anne's cannot alter the layout of the sitting room, however, most residents seem content to remain in their rooms. I visit in the morning but I hope in the afternoon games of stimulation are provided by staff - the newspaper is full of surveys which show using one's brain helps stave off dementia In summation, the staff are down to earth and friendly and I'm sure the resident's care is paramount.

St Anne's is a traditional style care home which has a homely atmosphere and a lot of the staff have been working here for many years and therefore experienced. The food is homemade and wholesome although lacks a lot of choices. The staff, in general, are very caring and helpful, although it is evident that they are short staffed over weekends which is a shame both for residents and those on duty.
